2003 E46 320d 4dr. Not as much fun to drive as an E30, but a bit more comfortable and cheaper in fuel (though last refuel set me back 75€). Meanwhile I found out the tank on the E46 is 63l, so I had could have gone a bit further but this already was bad on the fuel system (not enough fuel to cool). The consumption figure could be lower as I don't drive like granddads do, I like to keepby Michiel 318iS - Car Talk
Great! I have been waiting for this post, I really wanted to know what was wrong as I was out of answers. Luckily there's a couple of guys here that really know the E30 in and out and you persevered, I'm happy your car hasn't turned into a scrap item because of this. You'll enjoy your car more than ever now! This post had to come to an end as well, I had to read far righby Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum
Well, kept on driving... 1117.3 km on one tank, 61.37 l tanked in a 60.0 l tank (don't know about BMW's but at Ford this is normal, the tanks sag a bit when they grow older), still had 90 km to go according to the OBC. That's 5.5 l/100 km (OBC is always off quite a bit, 4.5 it mentionned).by Michiel 318iS - Car Talk
Drove home from work tonight, approximatly 850 km since I last tanked, OBC says I can do another 310 km and I only need 220 km to get back and forth to work.by Michiel 318iS - Car Talk

The same is valid in the cash for clunkers program, the energy required to produce a new car doesn't match up with the fuel saved by this same new car.by Michiel 318iS - Community Forum
And how would you feel if the belt snaps in a couple of months? I'm not a fan of spending to much money, but I wouldn't save on a timing belt.by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum
We (= those living in Belgium) can hand in our old batteries in recycling parks (our local park required € 1 entrance fee) for free. We can do the same with garden waste, paper, plastics, bottles, cans, wood, metals, construction material (limited amounts of asbestos) etc. Keeping access easy keeps us from throwing it where it shouldn't be thrown. A trash can... What's that? I even have trouble getting rid of broken parts, let alone good parts that I do not really want on my car.by Michiel 318iS - Community Forum
No need to be jealous, that E30 of yours is much more fun to drive than any other modern machine, for a lot less money. We're having snow here at the moment and strangely I felt as secure in the E30 on summer tyres with no electronic aids as with the E46 on winter tyres with ABS/ESP. The E30 was a lot more communicative and responsive than the E46.by Michiel 318iS - Community Forum

Had this very discussion today at work. Most people around here get a loan for a car. As much as I like cars, I could not loan money for a hump of metal (largely plastic nowadays). They all want the newest and latest and all the gadgets and the government is just helping them, using CO2 emissions as an argument. Has anyone told those green boys how much CO2 is emitted producing an automobilby Michiel 318iS - Community Forum

QuoteFlyboy Rick, I have the M40 motor, and what a sweet little mill it is, it is seriously bullet proof, IIRC it is the same bottom end as the M10 motor which is the same bottom end that BMW used in their Formula 1 cars back in the day, stroked down to 1500cc and turbo charged, I will keep my eyes open for a cam though, as I would rather buy a later model 3 series than do motor swaps, I would liby Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum
And even if you could install it yourself, you're not allowed to. Who was it here that needed a new igniter (?) for his gas heater, who could install it himself but couldn't order it without a license and even when he did get it in the end had to pay a fitter to do a complete check-up of his installation? Now is my time to say hi to Matt. Hi Matt! Nice car in a - for me - rare colour. You're right, get rid of the window tinting (or leave it on, but then you'll need to go for chromed wheels and a stereo). Another guy from across the ocean on the board, looks like us EU guys are getting pretty lonely here. Not that it does matter, I like to read what's going on there. Hope yby Michiel 318iS - Community Forum
Now we're talking beer! Belgian beer! Probably the best beer in the world! I understand you made it yourself. Makes me a bit jealous but at some point in my life, I'm gonna try to do this myself. My uncle makes his own (has a small scale brewery), I like the taste of it but carbonation might have been a bit more.
