I got a 2003 E46 320d (d for devil's fuel), bought it in May 2010 with 121.000 km and currently has 187.000 km. Drives great! Had no issues except for a broken exhaust (known issue). Mine has the M-pack but would not recommend that as it costs a bit more (lower fuel economy, expensive tyres). I've got a fuel consumption log, but I guess you never got the diesel over there.by Michiel 318iS - Community Forum
Electric would be the way to go if we could produce sufficient amount of electricity in a clean and efficient way. So far, we have not been able to do that. In the same way, hydrogen is not the way to go, yet. Hybrids are fancy and could prevent emissions locally, but in the end you're running a heavier car and polluting somewhere else.by Michiel 318iS - Car Talk

If you intend to drive the car for 15+ years, bear in mind that within a couple of years you will be less flexible, so try to find one you can easily get in and out, with most controls placed ergonomically. Would be a shame planning things financially and then have to change the plan due to having looked over that.by Michiel 318iS - Car Talk
E30 era 02 sensors give you a voltage. It switches from one level to another when going from lean to rich. (they can only tell if the car is running lean or rich) More recent cars will have wideband sensors that can actually tell the computer how rich or how lean they are running.by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum

Thought I'd take one. I'd love to drive a car I don't care about, never wash it, don't care about door dents or putting groceries on the paintwork.by Michiel 318iS - Community Forum
The 3rd brake light is this spot on the youth's face. Apparently Art's brake light was leaking a bit, so he wanted to fix it with silicone.by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum
Found this on Facebook (Classic and Vintage BMW Enthusiasts): 325i Challenge Went to buy new rear tyres for the E46 yesterday as they were worn out and one was losing pressure. Usually I'm nice on the tyres on this car (as those 255/35R18's are expensive) but as these had to go, I did a little sideways action myself. It had been a while and it was only a short drive, but I had a loby Michiel 318iS - Car Talk
I remember cycling home after school, met one of the flatmates (housemate actually) halfway, totally in panic, his mum had just called him to tell about a serious terrorist attack and made him go buy candles (in case power went down). Came home, turned on the TV and watched the towers go down. Spent the rest of the day behind the TV. Seeing the images again, ten years later, strikes me even moby Michiel 318iS - Community Forum

QuoteJohn Yust Now if you want to talk about expensive tires, try some road bike (bicycle) tires. I spent $40 each on a pair of tires that are about half gone now at 1000 miles, and I want to get some that are about twice that much next time. Ouch! I need to find a way to make that purchase look like a necessary houshold expense. John I noticed that a while ago, bike tyres are very expensive,by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum

QuoteArcheo-peteriX I am once again working in the high tech electronics business; designing printed circuit boards for radio modems. this has required me to be commuting about 50km each way in waht amounts to stop and go driving. I drove the 500 with the twinair two cylinder 900cc turbocharged engine (watercooled!), it was actually a nice little thing. Sounds a bit like a twostroke moped, very much fun to rev it (but that affects the fuel consumption), quick enough around town and on the occasional highway.by Michiel 318iS - Car Talk

Don't know about the auto box in E30's, are 2nd and 3rd on the same set of gears? Could be that a clutch or brake isn't doing what it should do. Or some hydraulic valve 'fluttering'.by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum
