Quotewodcutr That is pretty cool to have that to work with. It looks to me that that size tire is about the same difference as having 205/60/15 which would effect the speedometer about 2 mph @ 60. BMW also says that 195/60/14 is an acceptable tire size too, but they are smaller and would effect the speedo in the opposite direction so you would really be only going 58 instead of 60 mph with thos

Quotewodcutr OK, I have been reading on some other forums and one thread talks about smoking ellipsoids by painting the reflector black. To me that is no longer a reflector at that point, but they say that the reflector does not reflect light it only blocks light. Now I am really confused. In one thread it says that putting foil in there really helps the light output and the other thread says

Quotewodcutr Hey I was looking today at a rim I have as a spare and it is a 14"x5.5" steelie with an et35. This is a stock BMW rim. How come an after market rim will not work for the E30 with an offset of 35? Is this because the rim is only 5.5" and not 6 to 7" wide? Just curious. yes, the wider the wheel at that offset could create rubbing issues at full lock, or make t

QuotewodcutrI think most of us know that the sport seats are referred to as recaro whether they are or are not... I wasn't aware of this, but it only sounds like a misunderstanding. Recaro is a brand who has made seats for BMW, not a certain "style" of seat.

Quotewodcutr If you are looking for sport seats I have some that are FS. It is pretty hard to find a drivers seat in good shape as it gets the most use obviously. Here is a link if interested! SEATS and there is a special BENN discount, right?

QuoteEarendil Oh yeah, one more thing. You mention the 320is as having seats that work. What other model/year combo has seats that are interchangeable with our cars, if any? not sure about directly interchangeable, but people have taken VW GTI recaros and put them in e30s, and you can also retrofit the "vader" seats from the e36 M3 into the e30 with custom seat mounts (there are DIY w

QuoteEarendil So did all of you guys end up with cars with sports seats already installed? Or did you get lucky locally with a pair? Perhaps stocked a junkyard for a period of time? ~Tyler the is and es cars come with sport seats standard (along with the M3 of course), and i think convertibles also.

they are bulbs paired with a ballast of some kind to output a greater amount of light. i don't really know how it works, but it is the superior type of headlight right now. i bet ferd knows how they work, though.

i dont think the normal e30 sport seats are recaro's, either.

Quoterkj QuoteFerdinand The new car has some odd wiring for the high beams that I'm not happy with. On my old car I did the H1/H4 Euro lens conversion and loved it. The outboard headlamps have a dual filament Lo/Hi H4 bulb. The inboard lamps have a single filament H1 bulb. Only the outboard lenses light up on low-beam. When switching to high-beam the outboard lamps switched to high, a

Quoterkj One of the most important things in any car is a decent seat, I'm a poor man but recaro, a true one, is a nice upgrade you'll always be glad you did for yourself. I choose an older model that looked right in the car and felt great too. Its an upgrade I put at the top of the list... if i remember correctly, there are some recaros that come out of the e21 320is that are pret

QuoteFerdinand Quotedaniel the wheels seem to be konig remembers. (unless they are real BBS RSs) I wish they were three-piece BBS RS wheels. But they're actually two-piece BBS RM rims. those are good too!

i love the e30 sport seats! and they are very comfortable in my opinion. find a nice used pair to put in your car. just remember that if you get them from a 2-door, they will be able to tilt forward in a non 4-door manner.

Quotedaniel looks very nice... what are the wheels on it? nevermind, i just viewed your entry. the wheels seem to be konig remembers. (unless they are real BBS RSs) do you have foglights on it, or not? your entry picture has them, while the one in this thread doesn't.

looks very nice... what are the wheels on it? QuoteFerdinand Another interesting, but less pleasing, characteristic I discovered is that when an engine mount fails under heavy braking, the engine will move forward far enough to stick the fan into the radiator. That made a mess of the rad and snapped two blades off the fan. i may have mentioned this before, but i had the radiator fan clip th

Quoterkj These days, as carbon footprints go, I don't think the M20 is all that bad. i dont think any bmw motor is that bad, save for maybe the v12s. even they are efficient in their own right.

QuoteEarendil Quotedaniel i'm not using any video editing programs, i was just curious what container it used. i am actually running windows 7 on the mac mini Oh come on....That is a crying shame, and totally uncalled for. Good grief, use XP, not 7 ;-) It sounds like when the time comes, you can use the OSX side to do some pretty decent video editing. iMovie over Windows movie maker

QuoteBimmerBrad Yeah, the HD videos will always be limited to 4gb because of the lovely FAT32 file system (the card). I wouldn't say that Quicktime is less versatile as it is just the container. I render all of my projects to .MP4 which is in a Quicktime container as well. What is harder to deal with are the .mov files and .mjpeg files that some cameras use for capturing movies. What exactly

QuoteBimmerBrad Quotedaniel That sony looks pretty sweet, but the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 I currently have is pretty much the same, except it does 720p video instead of 1080p (I don't even know if my video card can handle 1080p), it doesnt have the panoramic sweep feature, or that nifty tilting lens. The next camera I will buy will definitely be a dSLR, and as with any electronic product I
