k i have pretty much decided my next camera related move. when it will happen, i am not sure. sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 w/ stabilizer. ~$530, (the nikon 18-200 is ~$650) sell my kit lens (18-55mm f3.5-5.6) ~$100 on ebay. i would've gone with the 70-300, but right now i need something i can leave on the camera all the time, and 250 is pretty close to 300. nikon is releasing a 35mm f1

Quotejaffar check this out, it's AMAZING i love the s2k's, but i would get bored really fast at that meet. i'm trying to find a picture of the e30 picnic from last year that is a wide angle group shot of the whole parking lot, but i can't find it.

QuoteBimmerBrad QuoteEarendil Bah! Nikon! Agreed. haha Quotedaniel the basic 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 lens i'd like to get the 70-300mm f4-5.6 lens Not enough bokeh for me. haha. f1.2 - 2.0 is more like it. Get that separation. Thats when getting good at manual focusing quickly pays off because at that aperture your focus is razor thin and auto focus isn't the best idea. (I'

QuoteCab Treadway I've recently discovered this link, which has TONS of great info, lens reviews, etc etc, almost all about Nikon stuff (which a few 3rd party compatible lenses thrown in). It's a great site, of course there are lots of great photo-related sites that I'm sure you've found already. I've been trading a couple of emails with the owner of that site, and he m

QuoteCab Treadway Quotedaniel well i bought a d40x body for a really good price, and am selling my current camera. Sweet. I'm sure you'll have a blast! What lens(es) did you get with it? just kidding. i found a d60 for almost the same price (successor to the d40 and d40x), so i'm going to have to sell the d40x when it gets here. the d40x body was brand new and didn't

Quotedaniel QuoteCab Treadway Quotedaniel I have started leaving my camera in its bag in my car (out of site, of course), so when that opportunity for a potentially ok photo comes along, I can take it, and possibly involve my car also, haha. Yup, I would totally do that as well. Maybe someday we'll get another body, and my wife and I can each have "our own" cameras. I could car

QuoteDave_G BTW, for those times when I need a bigger site than this to search for some E30 technical advice, I have found that e30tech.com has a more mature level of discussion than I have found on other forums. (And they have a nice 325iX forum, too. ) except now you have to pay money each year if you want to post, and they are not accepting new members. that sounds pretty silly to me.

QuoteEarendil Quotedaniel are you going to get a techII lower valence? I do not know what this is so I demand pics/links :-) this car has an mtech II kit - i suppose its about eight pieces: bumper cover and valence for the front and rear, and the side mouldings and sideskirts for both sides heres a pic of the rear (i swear to jeebus that this is really the only picture of the back of the

QuoteJUMPNYC If you are taking about the lip that goes under the front fairing, I have a brand new stock one that will go on when i get to painting it, what does the tech 2 look like? i figured you would know, since you have the mtech II front bumper as well as the mtech II rear bumper and rear valence. all you are missing is the side trim, sideskirts and the front valence. you could use the 325 bar, or find even thicker bars from aftermarket places. when it comes down to it, though, the thing that will reduce body roll the most is stiffer springs.

QuoteKelly Quoteakstraw Word definitions aside, this was quite an informative thread. That's why I enjoy this forum so much. Thanks to all who contributed! This thread has returned now with another question to provoke thoughtful discussion... My Brother returns to SF soon. From what I have read, larger sway bars also reduce predictability of when you will lose grip. What I still don't understand about sway bars is, if they reduce grip, why do people use them? being flatter around corners has to help handling somehow, right? I suppose loss of grip for an increase in under/oversteer balance is a good trade off, but then why do people with E30s upgrade both

QuoteBob P 325is 88 Quotedaniel if by correct "larger" size, you mean larger diameter, then sure, but the diameter of 215/60-14 tires is larger than the proper diameter for the e30. No, I mean that the 215/60-14 size is closer to the 195/65-14 size diameter than the 205/60-14 size, albeit on the high side. The 205/60 dia. is off by a greater amount, but on the low side. Quotewodcutr Andy, you are absolutely right if you are talking about the high beams. They do have a + shaped divider inside that is black and it functions as described. I am talking about the low beam light. The reflector on the low beam is not silver, it is black. That is what you are seeing when looking through the clear lens. If they smoked the lens then the light output would really suff

Quotewodcutr Kelly - I am sure it will function, but the red line in the tach is lower so that may cause fears that you are over reving the car. what? if the cluster is coming from a 325i, it will be the same, because they have the same (M20B25) motor. given that, I know there were a couple (or 3) different gauge cluster manufacturers for BMW at the time, VDO being one of them, and i can'

QuoteBob P 325is 88 Quotedaniel you shouldnt have trouble finding 195/65-14 or 205/60-14, which are the proper diameter. Actually the correct "larger" size is 215/60-14, which I have used often, when I could find it. salut, Bob p. if by correct "larger" size, you mean larger diameter, then sure, but the diameter of 215/60-14 tires is larger than the proper diameter

Quotewodcutr A smoked ellipsoid is not doing anything to the lens itself, it is blacking out the reflector surrounding the bulb behind the lens. So if what you are saying is true that smoked lights are sold to use regular bulbs in, then the reflector in my ellipsoids do nothing except look pretty! smoked ellipsoids have smoked lenses, not reflectors.

yes, mine only goes up when it receives a signal from the head unit. my stereo is always in "AUX" or ipod mode, so the antenna never goes up.

Quotewodcutr I don't know...form over function. They have smoked ellipsoids for sale from many companies so I don't know if those are all HID or regular bulb. All I am really after is whether I should even worry about the reflector part needing to be reflective or not. If all the reflector really does is look pretty then I will just replace the glass - no worries. If it helps projec
