My son and I were able to do it ourselves for the first time. Definitely a 2 man job. I found that you need at almost 3 feet of extensions to get to the upper bolts. The hardest part of the whole job was reaching the upper bolts for removal, getting the transmission back in and putting the upper bolts back. Need some patience.by sdp - Technical Forum
I've been driving about 30 years and I can't think of a time there wasn't a premium grade @ 91.by sdp - Technical Forum
I always went with the recommended tire pressure on the sticker that is usually on the inside of the driver door and then added a couple of pounds. If you fill to max pressure when cold, what happens when the you are driving and the tires are hot?.. You are probably over the max at that point. I also believe you are correct in stating that if you are a more aggressive driver then you needby sdp - Technical Forum

I know you can't zoom in as close as before. Probably the government and privacy groups making a stink about it. The map of my home has not gone back in time. There was a house being built next to it.. Originally it was an empty lot, then halfway built, now it is finally complete even though the house was finished 1.5 yrs ago.by sdp - Community Forum
Here is an issue I have to deal with so I'll throw it out here. Last summer we sprung a leak in one of the coolant hoses, I couldn't tell you which one exactly , but I believe it was attached to the head and then to a tee. One end of the T went into the firewall( to heater core) and the other end back to the engine compartment. Becasue it's wedged between the engine/intake manifby sdp - Technical Forum
I don't recall why but we didn't remove the intake manifold from the engine compartment. I think a German auto mechanic from whom my dad bought the gasket set, told him not to remove the manifold completely. We detached a few things but basically lifted the intake manifold off the head and then pulled it back and held it retracted with a wire. I think it saves you time from detaching aby sdp - Technical Forum
I've replaced the head on ours TWICE!!... The 1st head replacement was probably a bad head and didn't last the 1st year and it cracked... Maybe it was something we did.. I don't know. It'll definitely take you a few days especially if you are doing this alone. We didn't mess with the valves since the head was cracked, but once the head is off, the valves can't beby sdp - Technical Forum
Yes, buying a used one is easier, but there is always that risk. I bought one from a local BMW dismantler for $500. After installation, it had trouble with 2nd and reverse. I took it to a local shop and they replaced the oil and after some use, it's become much better. It's not what it should be though. No grinding but 2nd does stick a little sometimes. I bugged the owner for a replaby sdp - Technical Forum
You guys helped me out with a transmission replacement I did over a year ago. So I'll throw this one out at you. The transmission we bought for $500 is OK and works but 2nd gear (synchro) is... iffy. It'll probably go at some point down the road. So I still have the original tranny with a bad 2nd gear synchro (and maybe 3rd?? can't remember) sitting in the garage. Excellent idea!! The OBC display has been dimmed out for a long time on our car. I always wondered what it takes to fix it... I didn't know there were bulbs back there. Does anyone have info on pulling the OBC out?by sdp - Technical Forum
Hey there all... I was bummed when I ended up at that Russian site, but I found you all again and the new forum looks nice.. Kudos to those who organized/setup the new forum. My sons E30 "died" this week end. Something "popped-banged" in the engine compartment and started running rough. He stopped the engine and we towed it home the next day.
