Ouch! I feel your pain. But, you are in luck...nothing I see in your photos can't be easily and rather inexpensively replaced at your local 'pick a part' wrecking yard. I'm guessing that you'll have the E30 back in original condition in a short time. I wish I had the garage space to get a project E30 to replace my beloved isold to pay some of life's stupidby Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum
Simon, you are so BAD Now I feel so awful and guilty and like a douche I miss the iX even more after watching those videos Fortunately, I ahve a nice little 'peanut' that reminds me a lot of the iX...will get to test out it's snow handling capabilities within the next 24 hours. By the time I'm in a position to get another E30; I'll either be way too old or waby Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum

Congratulations John! From what I've read; the E34 was less of a trouble maker than the E30 but it will likely have many of the same little niggley things that we all love to tinker with. You will soon get used to the auto box; it is very smooth Taking a nice long road trip right out of the starter's box is a perfect way to get acquainted and to note any things that might need aby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk

That is strange...especially since the latches are purely mechanical. The electronics don't affect anything but the locking mechanism...hmmmm; could it be that kicking the front door open has activated the double lock and all the latches are actually closed and locked? Check to see if the latches are indeed closed.by Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum
I imagine I will get about the same economy when I travel on the highway and can get up over 30Kph Just filled up and calculated my second tank...46.5mpg(IMP). Apart from the super fuel economy; I love the little engine in this car. It is silky smooth and has a wide torque range. For example, I can easily pull up inclines in 5th gear that had the old S-10 shuddering and gasping for breathby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
Yes, and I'm very happy with this. In fact, I would be happy if it only achieved this on highway driving...but I think I can now safely expect over 50mpg(IMP) from this little gas sipperby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
I just realized my conversion was off a bit...it's closer to 38mpgby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
QuoteBob in Everett Peter, You probably do not have to work on it much either. You will not know what to do with yourself. Fear not; I have a couple of dozen mechanical wrist watches to revive!by Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
That would be around 36mpg(US). And yes, it's FWD.by Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
Well, I filled the little Echo up today. It produced a very satisfying 45mpg(IMP) for my first week of stop and go commuting with 30kmh being the average speed. I'll keep records for a while just to see how it goes. This car is fun to drive...even moreso than the iX was. Of course, I haven't had to drive it in the snow yetby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk

I picked up the car this evening after work. Holy crap; who knew these little peanuts had so much gusto?!? Compared to the truck; this thing is like a rocket; the throttle response is very nice and if you're not careful, the front wheels break loose This car is probably more like a Mini in the handling department than an E30 but it's still fun and I know I'm going to have tby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk

Hi Bob, Yeh, I surprised myself to with the 5 speed. But it just has so much more oomph than the auto box. I used the truck as a trade in and was given double what it's KBB value is; can't complain about that. So I figure I probably got the car for about 5% below KBB. The main thing is that it was half the price of the other cars I was looking at; Honda Fit and Ford Fiesta Wiby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
Finally got off the pot and bought a replacement for the truck. After a lot of soul searching, car research and financial wangling; I have purchased a 2004 Toyota Echo hatchback...with the 5 speed manual transmission. It is a small car with a big heart. The 1.5L engine is a treat to drive and it is silky smooth. I was a little worried about visibilty to the rear but as it turns out that isby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
