Most of the options you've mentioned would likely work but at the age of these cars; you could simply find a nice M20B25 or even better; an M50 to swap in. A little more work but no guessing about what you'll be getting at the rear wheels. The cost of a complete swap is likely to be a wash with doing a head swap and all that that entails to get the extra power. We're not about rby Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum

QuoteFerdinand The shoe is drying out, but still has a funny looking stain on it. I'm thinking of soaking the other one to match. Meanwhile it makes a good story. The fix went well. It really is MUCH easier to replace the heater core on A/C equipped cars. It's all buttoned up again, no leaks. The fix is good news but I have to warn you that every time that shoe gets warm from aby Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum
The shoe si toast but Ferd dodged the bullet...his new ride has the core down at the bottom so he didn't have to remove the steering shaft and pedals!by Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum
QuoteFerdinand I'm glad you're okay, Peter. The car too. Nothing mechanically damaged. That's just a beauty mark to give it some character. A little bit of primer to keep it from rusting is all it needs. Makes a good story. You, on the other hand, could have been killed. Yikes! QuoteJohn Yust That's really a terrible thing to have happen. I hope you called the police. John The police simply log your complaint and give you a reference number to provide the insurance company. Since nobody was hurt; they don't dispatch any officersby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
Some maggots dropped something heavy from a pedestrian overpass...it hit my car as I passed beneath. Fortunately; I was changing lanes when it hit or I would have been wearing in the middle of my chest It was three Asian kids of the 10 to 12 year old age. They were gone seconds later when I looked back...split like the little cowards they are(not all Asians; just these three). Tby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk

Rick, Unless you have an M3 or a chip, you do not need anything more than the lowest octane fuel you can buy at the pumps. I highly doubt that premium fuel sits around for long as there are way too many people who've been brainwashed into thinking premium makes their care go faster and their digits longerby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk

You guys are so bad...I am seriously thinking of getting another E30 and doing the vintage/collector thing and having a wonderful machine to drive on week ends. I can't take it with me when I die so why not enjoy something that has given me so much joy? Right; I know, I don't have all that much disposable income but we should all leave this life having experienced/enjoyed at least onby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
QuoteChandaSk 'm wondering how this would look with white LED's. The instructions say to use orange, but I don't see why plain white wouldn't be more like original. The original bulbs were just plain white. I replaced my bulbs once with white bulbs and they looked fine, but died already. Is a white LED too bright maybe? BTW, that's a good one to add to the tech links cby Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum
Hi Bob, Figured we could get you to drop in if I posted something you are well acquainted with I remembered what you had said about the manufacturers just remarketing the same product for more money...after I had done the oil change. No biggy; I did it myself so instead of $120 or more at the dealer; it only cost me $60 for the oil and a filter; including HST! Sad to hear the 325iS is gby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
The engine has over 100,000km(60,000mi) on it and I have no idea what was used in it previously other than it was always serviced at the dealer. I refilled it with the 5W30 recommended in the manual. Pretty sure it has hydraulic lifters since it is absolutely quietby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk

I did my first oil change on the Echo and used Mobile 1 Extended Service Synthetic. Now I know that Bob P. used to run his E30 for 15k to 18k kms between changes but I wonder if this new stuff; advertised as being good to 20k kms is really that much better than the non-Extended Service oil? Maybe Bob will drop in with some sage advice I will be running it out to the 20k mark anywayby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
Same here; they are all autos If/when I get another E30 or E36, it will be an auto and RWD. Saw one at road side yesterday and planned to stop for a look see when I returned but it had moved. It was a gold coloured 325i with one pre 1989 and one post1989 bumper. Otherwise; what I did see; looked pretty clean and solid. My Echo is a 2004 hatchback and is the same car as the Yaris, so you know what it's like. The front wheel drive is definitely not as nice as RWD; in fact, it is quite 'twitchy' when you let the engine go. I guess the open diff and the two different length axels make that happen. The right axel is much shorter and the right wheel breaks free much more easily than the left. It isby Archeo-peteriX - Community Forum
