Last saturday I was blown away. I was pacing in front of my house, and Fernando Almeida (http://youtu.be/1MpNWquNCTY) came with his red Porsche 3.0SC, waved at me, and entered the gate next door. There is a house where I knew he had some of his cars stored, but made no big deal about cause he is a car dealer... He said: "come here, you must see what I have here..." There he had aby Jose Pinto - Car Talk
http://youtu.be/cBoY5Pyc5aI Someone last summer made a video of part from my daily commute, and posted on Youtube. One can't tell from the movie, but it starts at 500m altitude and ends at about 200m. He drives slowly, use fast-forward...by Jose Pinto - Community Forum
I never used that sea foam you mention. My old beat-up Citroen has a carburetor, and shows several symptoms as your BMW, so don't go blaming BOSH for your trouble... I guess the oil use inside the cylinders is the main cause of all trouble. Knowing you need the BMW and money shortage (aren't we all?!), do you have access to the electric schematics and can you check all the connectoby Jose Pinto - Technical Forum
May be an intermittent vacuum leak on some hose, as well. Some distributors are controlled by vacuum, can't remember if yours is the case or not. Again, this kind of problems are the hardest to diagnose, specially for the DIY with limited tools and resources...by Jose Pinto - Technical Forum
Well done! While opening the lights to replace or glue the lenses, one may clean thoroughly the inside, and leave them shinny as new. Dull old scratched lenses may be polished to look as new. Sometimes a weekend project can make quite a difference on the car! Now the hood is begging for some attention.by Jose Pinto - Technical Forum
QuoteMichiel 318iS What I meant was that it's pointless to keep it in D, using a lot more fuel than needed to be standing still. Best solution would still be to turn the engine off at longer pauses. Define "longer pauses". I can't believe the feature "start-stop" in new cars is that much a worthy thing, cause the increased stress on the starter motor and bigger bby Jose Pinto - Car Talk
Interesting. Never had an automatic myself... Is the tear and wear of shifting to N and D every traffic ligh significant? Are there any savings in doing so? Most people I know who drive automatics (and I know few) just drop D and accelerate or brake.by Jose Pinto - Car Talk
QuoteArcheo-peteriX Boy how time flies! Seems like only last week they were still at home and they were deciding what to do with their lives. Interesting story! My car must have some stories that I ignore on it's 25 years of running around Europe... It has a fair share of rust underneath but no holes so far... And the paint is old, so no cover-up was done recently. Glad you found a good home for your e36! Time to enjoy the Z4 now!by Jose Pinto - Community Forum
Why are your car being cut in pieces? Are you restoring that rusted areas or dismantling it? Is the weather where you live terribly moist? Once I saw a parts Mercedes Benz w124 so rusted, if you locked a cat inside, it could find it's way out... The car happened to live near the sea all it's life.by Jose Pinto - Community Forum
You may be overthinking this. If you sat the cap does not hold pressure, then there is your leak! If you must add so little quantity every month, just keep doing so, and leave it untill something more significant happens.by Jose Pinto - Technical Forum
Hey Bob, the video is extremely biased ad tells just one side of the story. It mentions NOTHING about when the problem began to go ugly, during and after WW2. Is important to hear the other side, and to understand true is somewhere in between. The thing has gone for so long, is the kind of situation that brings out the worst of what people can be to each other. I am sorry, I don't believe tby Jose Pinto - Community Forum
Some poet wrote: "The age 40 is old for the young, 50 is young for the old..." It depends of each one's point of view. I feel great with my age, and I value the experience I got from the past while I feel physically as strong as I was like 20 years ago.by Jose Pinto - Community Forum
I just got myself a IBM Thinkpad, marked as R60e, with an Intel T2400 with 1GB RAM. It runs Win. XP, and sure enough the sound and all works fine. Perhaps I will need to go through this thread with more attention... It has years of use, and came to me as Education Ministry surplus.by Jose Pinto - Community Forum
Z4 are so sweet! Have fun. I can't see why the car is not practical. It has a door for each seat, boot space, convertible roof, everything... Life begins at 40.by Jose Pinto - Community Forum

Kelly, It's better to replace brake lines that look durable, than have them burst when you really want to slow down! Don't ask me how I know! And while we are into this, I will be 40 soon, and never felt better in my life!by Jose Pinto - Technical Forum
QuoteArcheo-peteriX I have one of those external hard drive boxes that plug into the USB port and it works fine. As mentioned above; the program called Akronis will allow the complete copying of the old hard drive without needing to reinstall the apps or the OS. In that case, the drivers of the new hardware must be installed on the "old" disk so the computer works right. Still much fby Jose Pinto - Community Forum
QuoteBob in Everett Can you take the hard drive from the old computer and install in the new one? Make it the D or E drive and just copy the files from it to the C. Could be done, but being a laptop it may void the warranty by doing that. There are those external drive boxes, to mount the old hard drive inside and hook up to the USB port, may be a way. The old programs have to be installed fby Jose Pinto - Community Forum

QuoteKelly Hi All, Well, there is news on this topic. After a few months of waiting for the whirring noise to appear when someone else was in the car, I now have video!!! It only took a mear 2 hours to figure out how to post this iphone video which a friend emailed to me. iPads are such a conundrum. So my colleague Lu and I drove north on Highway 101. The noise started. He thought my carby Jose Pinto - Technical Forum
