QuoteBob in Everett The snow has abated and now comes rain to melt it...all at once. We had abut 20 inches of snow over the past 6 days and had to shovel the driveway every evening after work. Due to low ground clearance, had to park the BMWs and drive the 3/4 ton Suburban. Hey Bob, I heard you guys where getting dumped on this last week, unusual, right?, wonder how Peter is doing. QuoteBob in Everett The old top does not look bad in pictures. It is just the rubber inner layer of the material that apparently has failed. Particularly along the stitching where it seeps water inside. I was looking for some "Raggtop" treatment for it but that probably would not cure it. I do have some white streaks in the window. I have read that a heat gun will clear them if itby rkj - Car Talk
QuoteBob in Everett I have given up on my top and put a deposit on a new one being ordered. I have chosen the "German" material for it in the hope that the slight differences are worth the extra money. The installation cost is almost twice the cost of the material. Instructions for the install are vague enough that I do not feel comfortable doing it myself. They say it is about a 10by rkj - Car Talk
QuoteMilo Taking my son to his basketball game this morning a kid in an F250 decided to stop halfway through a left hand turn and try a U-turn instead...going downhill in the rain I didn't have a chance. My fault for following too close I guess. The last picture showing the caved-in inner fender is the most worrying for me, is that fixable? Having a bad day, my laptop wokeby rkj - Technical Forum
Quotenomis3613 As someone who has just fitted 205/55R15s to my 325i, I'm starting to think that 195/65R14 is the sweet spot for grunt vs grip. On dry roads, the extra grip has greatly reduce throttle-steerability, so the car feels less agile and more understeery. Considering that the 15 inch basketweaves were an option for this model, I'm wondering if 25 years worth of tyre developmeby rkj - Technical Forum

QuoteDave_G My E30 just turned 21 years old. Should I throw it a little party? And, for the record, it's as solid and reliable as our "new" car, and way more fun to drive. Definitely, party that Baby! Maybe a little special clean-up, in the garage?, remember, you're throwing the car a party maybe a new chew toy (mudflaps for the awd come to mindby rkj - Community Forum
QuoteBob in Everett The E-30 is just about as complicated a car as I want. I was trying to determine why the sunroof on the spouse's 740 would open and not close...had to go to a shop and have the scan tool give it the once over. Turns out the motor module was not communicating with the car CAN bus. The switch on the sunroof panel does not control the motor, it tells the computer to tellby rkj - Car Talk
QuoteDave_G That's really cool. Oddly fascinating somehow. I could do the same thing out of my office window, but I think the ground-level view of a square meter of grass (or snow) and a transformer just wouldn't be as compelling. Worth one still Dave?by rkj - Community Forum
QuoteFerdinand I'm having fun with my new GoPro camera. It can do time lapse photos. To try it out, I stuck it to my office window and set it to snap a photo every two seconds. An hour and a half later, this is what I got. I get much more work done now. No longer do I need to stare out the window all day to keep track of what's happening outside. Thanks Guys, It was, and continues to be a wonderful Holiday time here; my younger daughter is here and has decided to stay longer to help with the apartment restoration I'm in the middle of and we are all missing Faith (my older daughter, who has to stay in N.C. this year because of work. Good Luck John, looks like a nice car. It's always tricky buying a higher mileage car but you'll find out soon enough what she needs... Cheers, Rickby rkj - Car Talk
To all the guys (and Girls) up here. I won't mention anybody in particular afraid of missing someone, but the warmest and kindest greetings to all of you. Quotealanrw Well, tell you what Rick, if I ever decide to part with my 84 325E, I will contact you. She is a true California car, no rust and just purrs (until you put your foot into it). alan Thanks Alan, but I think I'm giving up the E30 breed soon too bad really; to me they're the last of a simple breed of a fun car, easy to work on (most of the time) and great fun to drive andby rkj - Community Forum
QuoteBob in Everett It is a 55. The last year they had real gauges in the instrument cluster. Built like a tank compared to today's cars. I love those real dash boards (with real gauges. I still have my 47 ford coupe I drove for many years. You can get really attached to those old birds.... Thanks for your Olds picture, looks like a solid carby rkj - Community Forum
QuoteArcheo-peteriX That would be around 36mpg(US). And yes, it's FWD. Hmm, 36 is real nice....by rkj - Car Talk
QuoteArcheo-peteriX Well, I filled the little Echo up today. It produced a very satisfying 45mpg(IMP) for my first week of stop and go commuting with 30kmh being the average speed. I'll keep records for a while just to see how it goes. This car is fun to drive...even moreso than the iX was. Of course, I haven't had to drive it in the snow yet What would that be in usa gallonby rkj - Car Talk
QuoteJose Pinto There is a good movie on you tube: (they are speaking Portuguese with Brazilian accent) It is simple: one car, one track, two pairs of tires. When the pilot drives the track with good tires in the rear axle and worse ones in front, no problem. With good tires in the front and bad in the rear, the car oversteer and spins out of control. It's good for a FWD Ford or RWDby rkj - Technical Forum

Well fellow E30ites, I finally sold all my cars (well almost. I had a nice collection of Thirtys- 1989 325is, 1987 325is, 1986 325es (two) and a 1987 325e parts car. But I'm having trouble selling the last one, it's the 86 Grey 325es stick sunroof. I still have the two drivers that the tree fell on but plan to replace both of those soon (one at least. QuoteJose Pinto Quotenomis3613 Thanks guys. Since I don't know which corner of the car they came off, guess I'll go with Peter's method! If tyres are not directional, You should be OK. Just make sure to put the best couple tires in the rear axle, the worse at front. I'm wondering why the best go to the rear, usually I use the best in the front so the car goes straight andby rkj - Technical Forum
QuoteArcheo-peteriX Finally got off the pot and bought a replacement for the truck. After a lot of soul searching, car research and financial wangling; I have purchased a 2004 Toyota Echo hatchback...with the 5 speed manual transmission. It is a small car with a big heart.
