QuoteArcheo-peteriX I did my first oil change on the Echo and used Mobile 1 Extended Service Synthetic. Now I know that Bob P. used to run his E30 for 15k to 18k kms between changes but I wonder if this new stuff; advertised as being good to 20k kms is really that much better than the non-Extended Service oil? Maybe Bob will drop in with some sage advice I will be running it out to the 2by rkj - Car Talk

QuoteMichiel 318iS That's what I wanted to suggest, check with a Volt meter, it should switch output level around lambda 1 (so if your car is running correctly, it should be switching constantly). If it is not switching, either the car is off or the sensor is shot. How would you check for this, and what values on the meter would you use??? Pleaseby rkj - Technical Forum

QuoteFerdinand Bad cat? I have a bad cat. Every night he jumps on my car with muddy or sandy paws. I'm hoping to get the car painted this summer, but I'm going to have to do something about that #@$% cat first. That could be a problem; cats get pretty attached to warm hoods!by rkj - Technical Forum
Hey Peter, I relayed your message to Zephyr and she said "Oh, the Peter in BC you always talk about?" she sends her best Peter. Hey Dave, It Was beautiful driving down in the day light but those roads don't give you much room for error; a foot off the shoulder is cliffsville, sometimes with a river at the bottom- a long way down. QuoteFastAndLight Thanks for all of the tips and inspection points. It looks like in most cases I'm going to have to have a shop conduct a PPI since I am simply not finding any locally. Hi, and thanks you guys for the good wishes. The trip up to Washington, Vermont was great and yes, we took the ferry across to Bridgeport and then headed north. We had a stop in Brattleboro for an Indian dinner just before they closed, great people and wonderful food. The car is working well and on the highway this car rules. I've been keeping the speed down around 65-70. I'll investigaby rkj - Community Forum

QuoteDave_G Oops, of course a 1998 should be using OBD-II, correct? Those codes are consistent among all cars made after 1995. So any OBD-II code reader should be able to give you both the code and the description. But in any case, I did find this: http://www.e38.org/fault_codes.html I have the predecessor to this OBD-II code reader and it does the job just fine (you need a laptop to run thby rkj - Technical Forum

Hi, Why are these mirrors distorted (especially the right one), "objects may be closer than ...." Why can't these things be just plain mirrors, flat and simple. The other day I almost got clocked by a huge truck because I used the right outside rear view mirror (I was in the 528 and I think it has more distorted mirrors than the E30) to judge if I had enough room to pull out inby rkj - Car Talk

QuoteBob in Everett I was refused once for having a tow hitch on my car. I was careful to not include a picture of the rear of the car, I didn't think the hitch would help matters! I took the policy out with Hagerty, not condon and skelly as previously stated. They have been very helpful so far, and as Jose states, you have to have a regular use car first.
