Professor Costa Pereira is bad ass, alright. I went to see the car, at the dealer. The little car is tuned to look and sound like a real sports car, in a very small and lightweight package. The car is used, and can no longer be leased for the company, plus the dealer is not really willing to sell and asks a high price. Our old boss lost mobility of the left arm in a bike accident. Before

You guys will like this. Where I work , the partners (who own and manage the firm) are shoping for new cars. One is about my age and choose the new Mercedes Benz C220 station, the usual. The other is older, is now about 70 and currently drives a Jaguar S-type automatic, because he has no mobility of the left arm. He came up with the idea for the new car, to be smaller and practical for

QuoteBob in Everett Have been tempted to modifications for increased power but have resisted so far. Planning only piston rings and bearings. Hopefully will not have to have the crankshaft worked on. I sure enjoy driving this car and hope to drive it until I cannot drive any more. More power is not always a good thing. You may tune the engine to better economy or smooth operation. Anyt

QuoteOve Kvam QuoteBob in Everett Yes a complete rebuild is probably what it needs. I plan to replace all the bearings and piston rings. Hope the pistons can be re used. The fluids are all drained today and most wires and tubes disconnected. I hope I can remember where they all go when it comes time to connect them all. That is what the mobile phone is for. Take pictures before removal.

How did you discovered the coise comes from crank bearings? I beleive you own that car for a while now, can you trace any previous problems that might have caused this? That's the kind of project that tends to escalate into a complete rebuild...

QuoteOve Kvam I found some statistics for electric car sales in Europe (and Norway) in 2014. 0 All electric cars: 56.393 (18.090) 1 Nissan LEAF: 14.658 (4.781) 2 Renault Zoe: 11.227 (434) 3 Tesla Model S: 8.734 (4.040) 4 BMW i3: 5.804 (2.040) 5 Volkswagen e-up!: 5.365 (2.971) 6 Volkswagen e-Golf 3.328 (2.018) That means 32 percent of the electric cars in Europe are sold in Norway, and

QuoteOve Kvam QuoteJose PintoAlso I think left and right temperatures must be equal, even when driving at a lot of roundabouts, because the round left portion is compensated by turning right to enter and leave the roundabout. Unless you would do the entire circle, to decide which way to go. Several times. And very fast. I have heard that the taxis in my area have around 20 percent higher wea

I settled for 2.4 Bar front and 2.6 rear at the Benz, the FWD citröen has 2.3 front and 2.1 rear. The new shocks in the benz made it much more stable and soft than before, the old sachs shocks were completely wasted. During winter time, I believe the tires must run cool for most of the time, unless I would use the brakes a lot, and I don't pound the brakes much. Just installed the second

That stunt would be impossible if you ere trying. I bought a small RC toy quad-copter for my son in Christmas. First thing in the 25th he went to test it outside, before reading the manual. Soon, he came to me telling how the thing just crashed in a saw-mell near the house and he had to go there to search it. I found it in the grass, we were very lucky as there were lots of places in the

QuoteOve Kvam QuoteJose Pinto There are countries willing to support the chaos, and bring down oil prices to serve their agendas. Saudi Arabia and Israel profit from this, because compared to IS, if you dim the light they almost look like decent countries. China is loaded with money, they are the beacon of progress now. I would think that Saudi Arabia are losing money due to low oil prices, jus

QuoteOve Kvam QuoteBob in Everett Jose, Your realization that money is required to run a war of any kind raises the question about "who benefits?" from all the turmoil. Many will say that there could not be a conspiracy that could do this. Why not? Someone is benefitting from the conflict and are willing to pay for those new trucks. Maybe the money is simply stolen, local governm

I agree with most of what was said above. "Sharia law" is not really a law, is what was used by ancient communities in the desert. This is an eye opener about the freedom of speech, and why we don't want to live in a world where there are people deciding what others can print or write, let it be the muslims, the Pope or an elected committee. Each one has responsibility on what

QuoteOve Kvam QuoteBob in Everett They have declared that they are at war with us. Who are "they"? The suspects were all born and raised French. It would be so easy to file all this under "Islamic extremism" box and forget all about it, only it is not so simple. Young men in Europe are gathering in gangs who praise lunatic beliefs and wish to drag all of us back into mi

Well, that's a prototype anyway. I don't think it will become available with those specs. The Tesla Roadster had 1/4th the power, and was fine. It sold 2450 units, for the kind of car i think it's an excellent figure! This "Qantum e" would be no less of a supercar if it had half the power, IMHO. They want to shock people with figures in a completely new level for e

It works, but is not cheap to build. :/ A sign of the times, they make a supercar out of it, and not some mid-sized car to be accessible and used by common people.

QuoteOve Kvam We are considering replacing the F20 116i with a new car. The facelift version of the one series will be launched at the Geneva motorshow in March, so this one is a hot candidate with the new 3 cylinder engine from Mini F56 Cooper. The Cooper will also be considered. It has is a lighter and more sporty car, but I it has FWD, which I am not convinced about... Great! So many

I have plenty of trees, I live in the country now. The "bad news" is the long commute... The e30 is no beast of burden, I would use the Benz, it has OEM towbar and is much more "expendable". The carpet rear of the Touring would be handy to carry the presents, though. Not that I need a lot of space for that anyway...

Why not use an older simple car, to explain basics, then escalate to the modern car? I feel most new cars don't "communicate" with the driver as older ones did, so don't blame the new drivers to be insensitive to the car inputs, they are deeply masked under several layers of power assistance and electronic aids. :/ Not sure if the industry has taken the right path, as new

QuoteOve Kvam Check this out: Could be done, but it greatly depends on how market will accept (or not) the new technology. Not that electric cars are "new technology", they have been arround for over 100 years. BMW was smart, marketing new electric cars as "BMW i", clearly separating markets from the emerging electric range and their leading "traditional" power

They look bigger in person than on pictures. I've seen some, both rolling and parked. BMW made an effort to look very different from anything else on the road. Over here, the basic electric version starts at 38250€, the hybrid 43250€. Still a lot of money for me...

QuoteBob in Everett Good that you had time to stop and take the picture. Must be a story in there somewhere. Too bad there was none of the owners nearby to converse with. There is a story in there. Those cars are parked in front of a car dealer. Apparently the black 325i is part of the collection, but not for sale. Not that I have the money in me to get a good 325i anyway... Some more

Yesterday, during my morning commute half way to work I found this by the roadside: The black 325i usually parks there, but it was very well escorted yesterday, by the 635csi one side and another late 325i with MTechnics kit. I had to stop, check that out and make the picture.

Searching a new BMW is not a crisis! All they said, plus you may want the AWD and look into E83 or E53, beware of their added complexity. It depends on how you want to use the car and how much you want to spend, if it will be your sole or primary transportation and the distance you want to drive every year. Older cars will break down when you need them most, but the maintenance and ini
