Quoterkj Oh well, I'm still learning and plan to buy a book and do some reading so I can get to the bottom of things (I've got a T43 that still has those same issues) so we'll see what I can find. Why buy a book when there's two friends to help you out. One is called Mr Google and the other one is BMWE30NETWORK.

I can't understand why the world keeps supporting that regime. I understand why Israel was created but what they've been doing to the Palestinians is no better than what happened to the Jews in the 1930's-1940's. If people would build walls and fences around my area, lock me up, keep stealing land and control whatever gets into the area, I would start throwing bombs as well.

But what was causing the battery to be dead? Was it the battery, or was the alternator faulty? Or would you have something grounding from time to time, drawing all the power from your battery/alternator?

QuoteKelly Michiel - sorry for misspelling your name. I was about to literally drop into bed when i posted. I just did not want you all to worry that I had been immolated. Don't worry about that, I'm quite used to it. English speaking people often call me that and I let them, as it is way more easy for them to call me Michael than trying to pronounce Michiel. Then they usually end

QuoteJose Pinto I don't know if there would be a good idea to turn BENN into some "e-30 facebook"... There is one, here. I created it once the site went down for whatever reason so we could meet up there and see when this site came back to life, there were some members but at some point the facebook groups changed and I was the only one left in there.

QuoteArcheo-peteriX It just goes to show how often we get totally false impressions...I had visualized you as having auburn or even reddish coloured hair worn much longer. Funny, I was having the same virtual image...

Pointles: an E30 does not need that: It even goes that far that a convertible can act as a snow plow:

Then you either lost it or you have manual windows. It serves to manually open a failed electric window on the earlier models.

Insurance is not the issue, I could get a classic car insurance for it. It's the government trying to beat the last penny out of us, punishing cars with high CO2 output, as the E30's. Earlier this week I was very tempted to buy a good looking (in pictures) 325iX touring, just 180.000 km. Price was a bit high (€5000) but the wife did say I could buy it if I wanted to. How is she

Sh*t... Next step you'll throw me off this forum... But I've got excuses! The brakes are blocked! And need to work on the house! And entertain wife and kid! And as it isn't an oldtimer yet (>25 year), I have to pay a lot to put it back on the road.

That's right, fuel leaks under the hood require an immediate fix. That's why my 318iS hasn't been started for almost 2 years now, it's got a fuel leak at the injector rail, leaking over the starter. Don't want to start it twice!

It all starts with clean stuff. Clean fuel and clean oil. If you have this, you'll have fewer problems. The thing is, modern cars are so finely tuned and such high demands, when they are slightly out of tune, they break down. Years ago, Land Rover Defenders were sold in Africa, first thing they did was throwing away the injection system and fitting good old trusty (and thirsty) carburett

I hope Nemo isn't bothering you guys too much. We have had about 2 weeks of snow, a mere 10 cm and 2 days of slow traffic. I'd like to have some more to take full advantage of my winter tyres.

Depends on the kind of tape being used: sometimes it helps using the same tape to remove the glue, like this one. Sometimes you have to use a solvent. Always test first on an invisible area, just as on clothes. I guess you used this kind of tape?

Welcome back Eric! Latest I heard about Ove is that he's driving a 116i. Seems there is some nostalgia going on, several former members are dropping in lately.

I think you'll need a hammer and approach from the outside. If not, I bet the right solution will be pretty similar. Honestly, no idea, we didn't get them in Europe.

I guess the 405 was the last Peugeot to be sold in the US. For its class I find it a good looking car, especially in the sportier trims (which car isn't?). The W201 2.3-16 is just a legend, just as the M3, still a very good looking car.

From the start it was clear he still had to practice, as he has no skills yet. Unfortunately it didn't take long before it ended in a disaster. I don't understand why he wanted to corner in front of that lamp post, there was a lot of fun lying behind that lamp post. Did he learn his lesson? I fear not...
