The trucks are not 100% comparable, but still interesting to see.

All sensors hooked up? Timing belt on time? Spark plug wires in the right order? No air leaks? All fuses OK? No coolant spilled over some connector/sensor?

It largely depends on what the braking system was designed for. If ithas been made to handle 4000 kg, it will deal with 1000 and 2000 kg with little difference. Same for the tyres.

Sounds like the gas engines were a little different. Oil pullover happens when oil gets from the crankcase vent into the intake, making the engine run on oil instead of fuel, with no possibility to control it, keying off won't shut it down. Happens easily on a diesel. If your quick and have a manual, you can put it in a higher gear and dump the clutch. If not, bye bye engine. Youtube

That crankcase vent kit, was it any different than what already was on the car? i know on the diesels there's been a change from a foam filter to a vortex type filter, due to oil pullover and runaway engines.

Good to hear you're OK. Nice addition to the family as well, congratulations and enjoy every minute! You may start saving for his first BMW.

I was thinking of him as well, I just don't know what part of the Philippines he lives in. Maybe we should agree to drop a quick note here when we've been struck by disaster once power has been restored and most urgent things have been done. I remember last year's superstorm Sandy and Rick didn't log in for some days, makes you fear the worst...

I didn't know the iX sensors would be different, only thing I know of is a low surface grip sensor and different software for the ABS. As the sensors are magnetic, I'd measure AC voltage when spinning the wheel.

Oh yeah! I'll scare them to death. My father in law is always in for a little joke (just as I am), when my wife's sister presented her boyfriend, he got a tea for a drink. For the 2nd cup, he carelessly said the tea-bag could easily be used once more. The poor boy didn't date to ask for a new one and just put it in his cup... I guess I'll be a little something like him

Well, he's a she! She lets us sleep all night since her 6th week, good girl! She smiles a lot when you give her attention and knows how to cry for it (quite a different cry, sounds more like a cat). She's exploring and holding our hands and when she doesn't want to, she pushes them away. If you take her hands, she's trying to sit up. She eats well, she's a little fat

If you have a bit of time, you can figure out who was the OEM manufacturer and then source the part from them directly. You might be surprised. Mostly, it's just the box that's different.

Checking the '90 iX electric scheme, I figured out the E30 is not using Hall sensors, but magnetic coils (so no need for a power supply when testing). Have you tried reading the signal when rotating the wheel? Best would be to use a scope, but a DVM should read something as well (though not accurate) in the AC range. The ABS on the iX E30's is one of the better I've ever had o

Are you sure the wiring isn't broken internally? On my E46 I had the pad wear light on intermittently, flickering at times. The pads were pretty new, so no contact there. Checked the connector, nothing to see there either. Turned out to be the wiring broken, nothing to see at the insulation. Cut out a piece, soldered it together and it's still holding, no lights so far.

Well, at least the Benz served its time. Depending on your driving style, a 325 tds might even have better fuel economy. If it looks good, especially at places where you usually don't look, you might have a gooddeal. Do you know why it has been repainted? Try to make sure that shiny paint isn't covering a major crash repair.

Oh man that sucks, the most important feature on a BMW not working. A BMW that can't flash its brights just isn't a BMW.

As long as the pressure goes up when you touch the throttle, you're fine. QuoteJose Pinto As long as there is the right oil at the correct level, you should be fine Not really true. As long as you have good oil pressure, you should be fine. The lower the oil level, the higher the thermal load on it, so you should take care and drive carefully. When the oil level is fine and you

Last Tuesday the wife gave birth to our 2nd child, a girl this time. The name is Lena and both are doing well. As the boy she came to the world after a caesarean, which makes the dad is a bit more involved in changing diapers at the moment. Beer for everyone!

The mechanical stuff can easily be done, though a bit more work to be done than on an E30, lots more plastic to remove (even for simple maintenance, the E30 requires close to nothing to be removed) and take care not to break it. And as they're well build, he shouldn't have too many issues with it. I like the coupe over the 4dr, but that one was out of my budget. A Touring would hav

I have one and I'm quite happy about it. 270.000 km on it now, 150.000 by myself in the last three years. Most of the issues I know about are engine specific and won't help you (mine is a diesel). My CD player has died on me when I bought the car, that's about it.

I must take the advice of the experienced ones here, no matter how old they get, they keep asking for your attention in some way and I guess it won't stop on a short term.

No pressure indeed, I'm as happy as the first time, the uncertainty has gone, we know what to expect. But still it'll require some adaptation, the two year old is already able to do a lot of stuff by himself and there will be that totally helpless little thing... Life's amazing!

That's somewhat more difficult, as with any car make that's gone dead. VW/Audi (NSU was part of Auto Union) no longer supplies new parts. So the only way getting parts is through clubs, mostly salvaged parts from cars that are beyond a state that can be repaired.

Not an E30 this time, but a NSU Ro80. For those not familiar, it's a mid 60's to mid 70's sedan, Wankel engined, well ahead of its time. The seller has two and is selling his whole collection at once. Price has dropped a couple of times, one car came with pictures and looks pretty clean on them. One sells for €3500, the other for 4000. Maybe it can drop a bit more. Interestin
