I thought the starting price is 138000€, well out of my range as well. Laserlight is a 9000€ option!
I was reading an article at a newspaper, the i8 quota for Portugal sold out, and the prices averaged above 145000€.

Hi Slim!
Feel free to drop by the "community forum" and present yourself and your car, if you want.
Do you have the shop manual of your car, like the Haynes, Bentley, RTA or equivalent? It is very usefull, if not an indispensable tool to carry out such a job.
I believe the m40 is similar in the BMW e36, perhaps that manual works in your case, in case you can't get the correc

Good thing the insurance company was their to cover the damages.
Painting one part of the car will always show a mismatch. Since you say the back side is not in great shape, I would go ahead and treat the whole car to a fresh coat of paint.
Well, the insurance only covered part of the estimate, due to low commercial value of the car. That's why I sourced some parts

The other Monday some woman in her old Fiat jumped from a "Stop" sign in front of my car, and the front of the Benz was crushed into the side of her car.
Just got the check from the insurance to pay for the repair, but it will only clear next Friday.
I have it running with a couple new headlights, plus bumper and hood from the wreck yard, still unpainted (donor car is dark grey).

We wound up with both cars in the judged class. The X5 won third over all agains a couple of garage queens and one that just came off the showroom a couple of days ago. But...it also won "Peoples Choice" award.
The E-30 cabrio was up against some really stiff competition so did not win anything. I thought I might have a chance since I am supposed to get 9 poin

Really, this group is something else.
The Portuguese Mercedes Benz forum a am participating sucks big time compared to this one.
Plus, few can write anything worth reading, most just brag how good their cars look, others about how they pour money into them and such...
Back in the day this forum was really busy, there were trolls as well and they were properly dealt with.

I bought a second hand shift knob and boot that says M3 on it and put it in my E-30 for my fantacy M3 driving experience.
...Still much closer to real than my fantasy experience.
Just as a side note, the M3 is rated in the game among some supercars Lamborghini and Porsche.
I know, it's a game.

I have no E30, so this is my one and only car:
(Valencia Orange 2012 F20 116i M-Sport)
This is however my daily commuter:
Wish my commute could be done by bicicle or train! :/
I need a new job, badly!

A rare treat for sure. I do not remember you mentioning an M3 before. Enjoy.
Is new, just bought it, you can get one as well:
Only problem is, it's not for real.

I guess a new odometer, but 1M km e39 525tds are still good cars!
The mercedes Benz newish electronic odometers (from w202 on) lock at 999999 and have to be manually reset to zero.
A friend of mine has a VW Polo 1.4L year 95, and it turned to zero after 299999km.
I guess nobody was expecting those to be driven that kind of distance!

I wonder if Bob P. might have surpassed that mileage?
Thats some decent mileage, over 30 years or so...!
My Mercedes Benz had twice of that when it quit counting anymore. So, I can't prove how far it has been driven, and I don't care...
I calculate the driven distancve from google maps now, untill I feel like fixing or replace the odometer.

In its sport setting, it is quite loud on the outside, thanks to a sound generator. Feels strange, needs some time to get used to but in the end you can appreciate it.
Lots of torque: turbo + electric boost + electric engine.
Just out of curiosity, what is the selling price for an i8 in Central Europe?
I know is way, way out of my league...
Over here, they are marketing

When measuring current (Amperes), you need to open the circuit and measure in line, like you do at the battery.
While measuring how much current that runs through the battery, try to remove one fuse after the other, and putting it back.
Check how much the current drops. This will tell you how much current that goes through that particular fuse.
If you want to measure over a fu

Basic multimeters have a manual knob or keys to choose the range and units to measure, as well as several connections depending on what you want to do.
Basic electricity now: to measure voltage, connect in parallel to where you want to measure (example: the posts of the battery should read 12V give or take, with engine on, a bit above that).
Current is measured in series with the circuit, a way

I came across this video while searching for electric cars...
I love the race at 5:10 ;-)
This electric E30 is even faster!
Plus it looks very good, with less stickers...
Wish I had one!

Just saw one i3 on the road.
It looks taller than i imagined, and very different from anything else (they made that on purpose, i believe).
I found it not as exciting as i thought it would be, perhaps i have conservative taste.
Perhaps i am getting old. Or both.
I am stuck with old cars for my life, probably.
Three of my local friends are driving i3.

With my E30s, I usually ended up with something like 2.3-2.4 bar up front, and 2.2 in the rear. Tires with soft
sidewalls will require higher pressures. The lowest I have used was a set of R-compounds where I started with
a cold pressure of 1.3 bar in my front left (outside) tyre.
If you have an agressive driving style, you might want higher pressures than if you drive very

Hello. :-)
There is usually a pressure for optimum grip, and going either higher og lower will reduce the grip.
If you have perfect pressure in all four tyres, you can go either higher or lower up front to induce understeer.
To create oversteer, go higher or lower in the rear.
If you go lower with the pressure at the back, the handling will be slightly more sluggish, but

If I had the money, I'd have the i3 for commuting. It's quiet, fast accelerating, nice bit of technology (had a 7 day training on it, never thought a car could be that different from conventional ones).
We had the chance to drag race it against a MB CLS 63 AMG at a redlight, up to 60 km/h we were ahead of that beast. The driver wasn't really plea

E30 are not fuel efficient, by today's standards. Even the frugal diesel versions.
If you like a cheap diesel two seater, build your own:
OTOH, how long would you drive the car you have NOW, with 150000 of fuel?

Thanks Dave. I guess I got used to not leaving spaces, since most credit card numbers are requested without spaces even though the numbers as shown on the cards do have spaces.
It is nice to be back, even though I don't drive an E30 anymore, after having driven one for over 30yrs. This forum has much more sympathetic members, compared to the E60 forum, which really h

Is true we don't need so big heavy cars, and we could live with much smaller and less powewrfull engines.
But still, we need to get more alternatives as fuel!

Untill you have hidrogen produced out of inexpensive nuclear fusion electricity, H2 will be the most expensive fuel there is.
Today, producing H2 will leave CO2 and other pollution, just as burning wood or gas or anything else.
There is no such thing as "clean energy". There is cleaner options than others, and technology must address the problems and bring better solutions for the f
