My dad was a drivers ed instructor for highschool students. So every ride with him was a lesson. I have reluctance to follow any truck with a load that looks the least bit unsecure. Stuff coming the other way is not very predictable so I was very lucky to have seen the tire far enough ahead to be able to do anything about it. A closing rate of 100 feet per second gave me o

The ultimate summer driving sensation! Had they retained the front window, it could have functioned as a water retention wall during hard braking.

Hi my dear All,
I hope that you are well! I'm still in zombie mode at work. I manage to work only 3 hours today and 3 hrs yesterday - that is Sat Sun. Oh the fun of it.
Well, the rear view mirror (RVM) fell down last week. I visited the auto parts store for the glue. I glued the RVM button onto the glass perfectly upside down - rotated 180 degrees. I called the store which recommend

Hi All,
Well, now there is a new Beemie mystery. It smells like gasoline suddenly.
After I drive to work in the morning, I park in a single car garage with a roll-up door. After the car sits for 3 hours or so, the garage has a gas smell. There are no drips on the floor. The gas lines were replaced maybe 5 years ago.
I stopped by the mechanic maybe 2 nights ago. The

Hi I am having a nightmare with my e30 325i convertible it has a original hardtop as well as the soft top and they both leak in the top corners. I don't get to drive the car as much which means when i go to the car after a while because of the damp conditions the leather has mould on it, the carpets are wet and I'm sure the water is causing other issues i.e getting in pl

Hi Guys,
I hope that you are well! I had a couple days of illness around the new year, but I'm better now. :-)
Question 1 - Clear coat and waxing
Yesterday I drove Beemie to the detailer for a "long lasting double hand wax." After the wash and wax, the man said that the clear coat was wearing thin. I'm sure this is true. Beemie is an 89. The detailer recommended that

The noise could be the guibo being worn and allowing the drive shaft to vibrate.
I would not recommend changing back to petroleum based oil once you have synthetic unless you change the seals. The reaction of the seals to the different oils may allow them to leak.
Hi Bob,
Good point. I'll ask the mechs to check the guibo. I had it replaced about five yrs ago when t

One caution on the Redline oil...it may cause the seals to shrink a bit and allow it to start leaking.
Hi Rick and Bob,
Well I have used the redline fluids in thr transmission and the diff for a few years now. I did not know they could shrink the seals. Should I return to the standard "dinosaur juice" version? I don't race my car. It is a beloved daily dri

Hello all,
Well, I've seen a few good movies lately, I thought that I'd send you the list. I use Netflix (streaming), but you may be able to find some of these at your local library and/or inter library loan as well. I suppose there is a thread which connects all these. Each focuses on groups or individuals who pursue their passions and skills toward the highest result that can be a

Hi All,
In responce to Peter's question about the trans fluid, I think it was changed a year and a half ago.
I'll ask the mechs about Alan's item as well.
Now I'm off to work again. For good or bad. I think that in 2 weeks that the worst will be over.

Hello long lost Friends,
I hope this note finds you well. I have been basically under water at work for the last 6 months. I have barely had time to eat or much of anything really. Good news is that I managed to drop Beemie at the mechs for an oil change 2 weeks ago. this has not occured since Feb. I know - bad Kelly.
So here is the odd transmission issue. The mechs told me in Feb that I s

Hey Kelly
Try going in to 2nd and then up to 1st. See if that works.
The shifter has bushings and rubber mounts that get loose over time but usually, if the shifter goes into gear easily or not depends on the transmission (not always though). A good tell is what's in the drained oil....

Yea, once again the easy way out...I looked in my manual for about 2 minutes and I couldn't find anything to show me how to remove the brake light assembly because yes, it was leaking into the trunk, I removed the obvious 4 screws but overlooked the other three that are not behind the foam but further forward near the edge. So I googled "third brake light removal bmw 32

The rear wheel bearing sounds right on. I had one replaced and the mechanic wanted to do the other but I was on a budget. The other one never made any noise and was good for as long as I had the iX.
As for the shifting; could be a couple of things. How sloppy is the shifter? If it is

Yeah, but none of them are anything close to an aggressive car. The last half way sporty cars to use 14" afaik are the E30 and the Honda civic. And that last one is questionable

I am officially green with envy, the engineering that goes into the new bikes is something to behold.
And to think that we used to think a 500lb litre bike, putting out 100hp was a monster.
It is nice to get in to the present century's engineering and to have more going for you on the road. This machine is sooo smooth and has pow
