ECU,DME - is the electronic engine control unit or whatever you call the computer that controls the ignition and injector timing. TPS - Throttle Position Sensor mounted at the bottom end of the throttle plate shaft is not so much a sensor as simply two switches. With throttle closed one switch closes to tell the ECU that the Idle Control Computer should take over. With throttle wide open theby Ferdinand - Technical Forum
QuoteFerdinand It sounds like the end of the guardrail came into the car. Turns out, that's exactly what happened. Hitting a wall, as initially reported, and seeing what relatively little front-end damage there was, didn't explain how he incurred such awful injuries. Here are photos showing the guardrail all the way through the car. And onboard video from the following car coby Ferdinand - Car Talk

It's awkward getting at the wires to the reverse switch on the side of the transmission from underneath the car. So, I've never bothered trying to figure out where mine are shorting out. I simply unplugged the two-wire connector under the shift-lever boot inside the car, then ran my own wires from there to an illuminated rocker switch on my dash. QuoteEarendilElectric motors produce the same torque from 0 to max RPM. This results in the HP output not ring a curve, but a linear line going up and up and up I don't believe that's true. Electric motors produce the greatest torque at startup, i.e. at zero rpm. The torque falls off as the rpm increases.by Ferdinand - Community Forum

QuoteFlyboy I am just glad we still have choices here, and don't have folk like the EPA and the Govt. telling us what is and isn't good for me, and legislating what I can and can't use. QuoteFlyboy Any thoughts on anything before I call the mechanic... The mechanic will have to go through all the same diagnostic steps, and will charge you for his time. QuoteEarendil As soon as I start to question the merits of the e30, I give it some TLC and am blown away time and time again. You'd think I'd be used to what a good running E30 feels like, but I rarely expect what this car gives. I'm always happy to see another E30 owner experience the same thing Same here. Quotealanrw Well, you may very well be onto something here. What happens when you disconnect the vacuum line and suck? If the diaprham is ruptured, you should taste gas I would think. QuoteFlyboy our cars over here, well at least the ones of that vintage don't have O2 sensors, mine has never had one, the socket where the O2 sensor relay lives, next to the fuel pump relay has been sitting empty from day one. The O2 sensor relay is for the O2 sensor pre-heater. Absence of the relay does not necessarily mean you have no O2 sensor. You may have the non-heated 2-wire versionby Ferdinand - Technical Forum
QuoteFlyboyI did remove the vacum hose to see what difference there would be, it kept running, the only reason I knew it was off, was I heard the tell tale hiss of a vacum leak, pluged it back on, no change.
