Does that cooling system need to be bled like the six cylinder? An air bubble could cause that. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Done it 4 times. It is pretty easy. Disconnect the rear snap latch. Move the driver's seat belt out of the way. Pop out the circle at where the trim panel meets the black trim for the bottom mount. Remove the coat hook to access the upper bolt. Once you have removed the circle and the coat hook (might take a bit of tugging, don't be scared), you will see 2 small bolts. Carefully removeby alanrw - Technical Forum
Typically, when you bring the head into a machine shop, they can pressure test the head in order to make that determination. Always best to seek out a machine shop that is familiar with BMW heads. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Well, just make sure you have enough power supply to run all of that. For myself, it seems lately, power supplies have been the bain of my computer exhistance. Either under rated or simply blowing up (4 different machines). But computers are just like cars except you don't get as much grease under your fingernails!! alanby alanrw - Community Forum

The sensor system works when the pad wears to the point that the disc hits the sensor severing the wire embedded in the sensor. At that point, the warning light goes on. You could have a broken wire down stream of the sensor or possibly a bad connector where the sensor plugs into the body wire loom. I think there has even been a mention of the sensor wire not being routed properly and then gets mby alanrw - Technical Forum
Yep, coolant level sensor in the coolant tank cap could be going south. As for the brake pad light, did you change the wear sensors when the brakes were done? Most likely, you have a bad brake pad wear wire-sensor, again, relatively easy and cheap fix. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Everything I have read mirrors what you just posted. Not sure what grease to use though. Try this link here: and this for future reference, alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Why not just get them painted? BMW had a silver color and a beige-silver color. The color code for your car is right by the driver's side shock tower. Any body shop can do, slam dunk. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
If you get pulled over, tell him 1.you are going for that retro 50's hot rod thing. 2. there has been a rash of hood and trunk lid thefts in your neighborhood lately. 3. you read it increases airflow to the engine thereby helping the engine run better 4. your friends know no boundries when it comes to practical jokes. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Take the hood off of your E30, drive down and install the replacement. Same for the deck lid. PUt the quarter inside. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Well, in my case, the bios stuff looked fine. For giggles, I took out the power supply and opened it up. There was some ugly black goo oozing out of the capacitors which was my first sign all was not right. If you have a spare machine laying around, it is a pretty easy swap out. alanby alanrw - Community Forum
New server, well and good, don't throw out the old one. Had similar issues with my machine at work. Turned out the power supply was going. Intermiitanat voltage was wreaking havoc. On my home machine, tuned out my ATI video card was wreaking havoc. Found many people on the web with the exact ATI symptoms, no fix. no one knows what causes it. Got a new video card, reloaded, all is find. No mby alanrw - Community Forum
.....the Germans love that stuff. It was standard on MB and VW for years. Led to more VW engine fires than I care to remember. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
It would seem if the part numbers are the same, you are ok. I mean, if the part numbers are the same but the parts are different for 2-4 door, that would be an impossibility, no? My money is on the truck, can't really see how you could stuff the hood in the car unless you can fold it into quarters. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum

Something is not right here. We )United States Govt) decline any offer of assistance from countries with experience in handling this type of mishap, Bobby Jihdahl wants to build a sand berm to protect the wetlands and the feds are dragging their feet for approval, WTF is going on here? Is there an ulterior motive in letting this gusher continue to bleed? It is not adding up in my book. alaby alanrw - Community Forum
Vacuum leak? Is the boot from the MAF to the intake manifold torn like mine was (underneath where you couldn't see it)? Oil dipstick complete seated? If it isn't, it will cause the engine idle to "hunt". alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Don't know about you guys, but here in Calfornia, Air Quality Management District has pretty much mandated new formulas for all paints to decrease volatiles in the atmosphere. The problem is that the new formulas render the paint and varnish a really crappy product. Stuff barely lasts a year these days. House painters won't even guarantee trim paint anymore due to the new formulationby alanrw - Community Forum

First off, glad everyone is ok, sheet metal can always be replaced. You have a pick a part near you? There is an online place in northern calif. that has a lot of stuff and ships. Don't total it. Check these guys out. alanby alanrw - Community Forum

Quoterkj . On the ocean really describes it, I'm right on a thin part of the Island before it ends! The salt water is everywhere; puddles, air etc. Poor me right, the beaches are killer though B) Any pictures of that sweety of yours, sounds like shes ready for summer fun Here ya go: alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
You know Rick, I reread this thread. Initially you said you had smoke coming from under the dash. There is a stack of grounds that screw into the firewall behind the instrument cluster. I can't help but wonder if the issue here is multifactorial. You did fix the alternator so that is out of the equation. Peter mentioned how a weakening battery threw all kinds of symptoms, possibly time fby alanrw - Technical Forum
