QuoteArcheo-peteriX I wonder who Veronica is? "Veronica" was the character played by 17-yr-old Winona Ryder in the 1988 movie "Heathers", from which comes the classic quote, "F*** me gently with a chainsaw." See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ-3rikUQ34 In the excitement of the moment, Martin forgot to mention the chainsaw.by Ferdinand - Community Forum
QuoteArcheo-peteriX I sure hope the car is fixable; this looks like a funeral procession... I get a little misty-eyed each time looking at that photo. We were soooo close... Targa is unique in that it's not necessarily the fastest car that wins, otherwise we wouldn't have had any hope of winning. It's who can run reliably all week and make the least mistakes. QuoteArcheo-peteriX While Martin seems mildly surprised; I can't help notice you calmly searching the notes for mention of that ditch It was an unfortunate mistake. This was the first time we've ever crashed together. We've broken stuff on the car before, busted suspension, flat tires, etc., but always managed to either fix it or limp on to the next service opportunity to mby Ferdinand - Community Forum

Hey Cab, This one made me think of your mysterious rear suspension clunk. My car has an annoying clunk coming from the right rear. It only does it on rebound, not compression. I can bounce on the rear and the suspension moves quietly with no noise. But when driving over any abrupt kick it sounds like something is bouncing loose in the trunk. It sounds exactly as though the battery is juby Ferdinand - Community Forum
QuoteCab TreadwayYour car's name is Herb? No, Herb's is this truck stop on the highway. BobP would know it, as his commute takes him past there. Herb's was the scene of several BMW rally adventures from back when I had my previous black 86 325. It was the start/finish location of the very first rally that Christoph & I won together. And after another rally run on the Quby Ferdinand - Community Forum

Quotealanrw What does the button behind the plastic plug do? It is for calibrating the fuel-remaining readout. Pressing the 1000-button and 1-button simultaneously on the OBC will display the amount of fuel remaining in the tank. If you run the car until it is nearly out of the gas, a low-fuel warning light comes on in the gas gauge in the instrument cluster when there are about 6 liters (1by Ferdinand - Community Forum
That all makes good sense. Star Specs are good tires. Martin got those for his Nissan 240SX for our 2,200 km Targa Newfoundland adventure. Those tres were amazing, wet or dry. And after a week of beating on them hard, the tires still look good enough to use again next year (if we had enough money to go again). You already have a 4.10 LSD ready to go? Here is the wiring diagram for the wiper/washer system. Click on that for an enlarged view. Power to both the wiper and washer systems comes from the 30-amp Fuse-5. Since the wipers do work we already know the fuse is good, and thus we know that the K10 wiper control relay is okay too. We also know that the Ground connection G201 (Ground on Steering Column) must be good too, otherwiseby Ferdinand - Technical Forum
Is it only the washer fluid pump that's not working, or are the wipers also not working?by Ferdinand - Technical Forum
QuotejamesAre you still doing the Targa? We did really well in the Grand Touring category with my son using our E30 in 2009. Last September I co-drove (navigated) for Martin Walter in his Nissan 240SX in the full-out Targa category, Modern Class. On the 5th and final day we were sitting pretty in 2nd place when we had an unfortunate encounter with a deep rock-filled ditch. We're goiby Ferdinand - Community Forum

Nice! What kind of camera and mount are you using? You're not using those through-bolted ice tires, are you? I mean yours are normal street-studs, right? Those can be real scary too. They work great on glare ice, but if you stray off line into the deep snow then the studs aren't long enough to reach through into the ice and suddenly you've got a whole lot less traction.by Ferdinand - Car Talk
We take turns marshalling, checking to make sure no one goes off course, gets stuck, or knocks over pylons etc. Each time after completing your run you're supposed to report for marshalling duty and you get assigned to a different corner each time until relieved by someone else when it's time for your next run. This time though we had to do it differently. We got split into two sepaby Ferdinand - Car Talk
We've had a dismal winter with hardly any snow in Ottawa. Our Motorsport Club has struggled valiantly to maintain our winter driving school facility, but it's been hopeless. Usually the track, plowed out in a big parking lot, has many different configurations possible. But this year we've given on up on most of it and concentrated on saving just one big loop. Quotealanrw Does the plastic cover just come off or does it entail the removal of the security bolts on the steering column? There are four screws holding the plastic steering column cover on. Two of them are accessible from underneath the column, but the other two are hidden behind the steering wheel. You have to remove the steering wheel to get at them, which means you need the key in the ignby Ferdinand - Technical Forum
The hazard warning lights and turn signal lights use the same flasher relay. If your turn signals are working properly, then you know the problem is not with the flasher module. That's a good thing because it's awkward to get to the flasher as it's mounted under the steering column and you have to pull the steering wheel to get at it. Are you sure you checked all the fuses?by Ferdinand - Technical Forum
QuoteEarendil Brand new water pump. I'll be inspecting the water pump very carefully for defects this time around. Any idea what the drainage hole is supposed to be draining? Assuming it exists It could well be a figment of my imagination. I dunno for sure. Maybe there is no drain hole. The point though, maybe your gasket seal is fine but the pump itself is leaking through the shaft seby Ferdinand - Technical Forum
I don't remember any of the water pump bolts on my M20 going through into the water jacket either. Maybe that's an issue on the 4-cylinder engines. Is it a brand new water pump, or did you put the original pump back on? I might be imagining this too, but I seem to remember the water pump has a small drainage hole at the bottom where it mates against the engine block. If the wateby Ferdinand - Technical Forum
QuoterkjHey Ferdy, Those are nice looking wheels on the red car, what are they? They are two-piece BBS RM rims. Not nearly as good as the three-piece BBS RS rims, but I quite like them. My main complaint about these rims is that the centre caps press on and are held in by a big rubber O-ring, unlike the better BBS RS rims which have centre caps that screw in. These go in nice and solid, no fby Ferdinand - Community Forum
QuoteMilo I bought my '87 325e a while back..., it runs good, stops good, doesn't leak and I love the RWD. I had an '86 325e. I loved that car. Much of its appeal came from the fact that it was relatively "boring", i.e. it was only an "e". But it was tons of fun. Although I took good care of it, I also frequently abused the hell out of it. Quotealanrw Is there a lot of variation of that part thru the model years? Are they calibrated differently? I bet they have a potload of them at the Pick A Part.
