QuoteJose Pinto Are there pictures anywhere? Must have been quite an event! Lots of them! People are posting them here. Lots of armature shots, but there are some decent photographers that put their stuff up as well.by Earendil - Car Talk
I looked for you sitting next to one of your Black verts but never did see you. I would have needed the combination of you and the car though, I don't think I'd recognize either of you two if you were separated. It was wonderful weather. Sadly, the Saturday Portland crew ended up driving 3 hours in the rain, never saw a dry moment the entire drive.by Earendil - Car Talk
With a solid bit of luck and timing, I got myself on the crew of an E30 team that is in the middle of running the 25 hour endurance race at Thunderhill in California. It's past 3am out here, and the race ends at noon. So far so good. Miata spun out and we couldn't avoid it. No high beams on the right side so we're kinda blind. But we're one of the cheapest teams out here, butby Earendil - Community Forum
QuoteMichiel 318iS Electric would be the way to go if we could produce sufficient amount of electricity in a clean and efficient way. So far, we have not been able to do that. In the same way, hydrogen is not the way to go, yet. Hybrids are fancy and could prevent emissions locally, but in the end you're running a heavier car and polluting somewhere else. Since this place isn't exactly overflowing with new posts now that winter is threatening to show its self, and with the recent comments in other threads about the E30 scene being basically dead in parts of eastern Europe, I decided it would be good to toss this out there. QuoteArcheo-peteriX I wish I still had my Bentley and my mind but I have to caution against your logic. My logic should always be questioned, but in this case I think it was sound. Because most E30 models had were produced with multiple different and BMW compatible ECUs, than just because the ECU in your glovebox doesn't match something like RealOEM doesn't mean it is the wrong ECby Earendil - Technical Forum
QuoteMilo And another thing! My 325e has a build date of 6/07 on the door jamb. My ECU *should* be 0 261 200 154 according to Pelican and others, I've got the earlier 0 261 200 027 ECU in my glove box. Scratches head. I need some expertise. Some other guys can correct me if I'm wrong here, but there few about like 4-8 ECUs for the E30, and they are all compatible with eachby Earendil - Technical Forum
QuoteJose Pinto Most people comented on the Neon find, instead of the mint e30 M3! They will do some pre-emptive maintenace prior to turn the engine on. Anyone knows what needs to be replaced in such situation (aside aged fluids)? Gaskets, rubber bits. I can't say I have... But If it sounds like a rock hitting the quarter panel (and not a clunck you can feel in your seat) then I think you have your answer. Experiment and note what tank level it happens at, and don't piss off the local kids But really, if it's the tank expanding/contracting because it has a dent in the underside, it will make very different sounds depending on tby Earendil - Technical Forum
QuoteBob in Everett It was great meeting you today and I agree that your symptoms are odd. There is more than one "flat" spot during acceleration. Another thing I thought of besides the injectors is possibly the fuel regulator. If that was a bit erratic in pressure control, it might cause a temporary power loss. Just a thought. I forgot to mention the other thing I might suspect: A guibo with a manufacturing defect. It makes perfect sense that a guibo would be directional so that the side that experiences more torque can be reinforced. But that's the thing, it only experiences more torque with increased frequency, it's not as if the reverse direction doesn't experience any torque. Any time the car goesby Earendil - Technical Forum
I have no experience here but general physics, but I can't imagine a guibo installed backwards would fail in a matter of weeks. There is no reason it should do that. My thinking would be that it's experiencing increased stress. I'm sure someone would have noticed a bad transmission mount or center driveline support bearing? that would be my guess for quick guibo failure.by Earendil - Technical Forum

Quoterkj I can't believe these assholes in america have stopped making 14 inch tires, what a bunch of losers! There are a lot of cars that still run em Yeah, but none of them are anything close to an aggressive car. The last half way sporty cars to use 14" afaik are the E30 and the Honda civic. Quoterkj The latest car my darling wife is looking at is the cooper mini so I've been doing a little research in to the breed and while the older ones where mopars made in Brazil, the 2007 and newer cars (I think) are a Peugeot/Citroen item made in the UK. Mini has been owned by BMW for a little while not, right? I know a few people that track their mini. I don't know about reliability, but it seems to fall into the "sport with utility" categories that our E30s are in. I didn't like them so much at first, but they seem alright.
