QuoteKelly QuoteEarendil Personally, my poor baby has seen 250+ thousand miles, and a problem I'm finding is that the wiring isn't holding up real well. I'm starting to see some really quirky behavior that is extremely hard to diagnose. Hi Earendil, Your statement above is giving me the worries. The easiest thing to do is just buy a new SI board. They now have some that do not have any batteries so it will never need replacing again. Also, I would guess that your brake lining light was probably burned out and since you replaced it you are now getting the warning. If your brakes are fine then you need to check the sensor connections and put some dielectric grease in there. They tend tby wodcutr - Technical Forum
Update - I took everything out of the trunk well and I could not find any D shaped area where there would have been a whole to drain the well. The way the car sits the lowest point of the well is right under the jack and there is not any indication of a hole ever being there. I could drill one, but that seems dumb if I can eliminate the source of water. The sunroof drain was connected to the fby wodcutr - Technical Forum
Quoterkj Hey Dan There are many ways water gets into the trunk but lets say, for now, its the taillight. Have you tried to R&R it, bend the tabs back in place, fix the rust and seal it; I use rope caulk plus the gasket, use the dum dum next to the body side. Works wonderful. There are drain holes on some years and they've blocked them on others. Rick I may be a dumb dumb, butby wodcutr - Technical Forum
QuoteArcheo-peteriX Quotedaniel Is your trunk seal OK? I know the sunroof has gutters, too, but I am not exactly sure where they go. The sun roof has 4 drain holes. The front ones have a tube going down the door post to a small drain hole in the bottom of the rocker panel. The two rear ones run tubes back and to the side wheels in the trunk. The tubes are attached to the flap mechanism andby wodcutr - Technical Forum
Question - Is there supposed to be some sort of drain in the trunk well where the jack is stored? I noticed the other day about a gallon of water had collected in there in one of my cars. I can only figure it got in there from a failing left taillight gasket as to me it would be near impossible for water to go up and over the main trunk seal. So now the bottom of my jack is all rusted and I amby wodcutr - Technical Forum
Quoterkj So you think max pressure is a good way to run your tires? thats funny! OK so I'm an idiot...I never had a father to tell me otherwise. I always thought that the pressure stamped in the side of the tire was the recommended pressure for that tire. I have now been given knowledge that I can pass onto my own son! I guess it's a good thing I don't buy high performanceby wodcutr - Technical Forum
QuoteDave_G Generally I run about 32-35 psi all around. The higher side will give you slightly better handling and fuel mileage, while the lower side will be a little softer and more comfortable. I like a stiff ride but I guess I will try the pressure at 35 and see how it feels. I wonder if that is why I get such good mpg...I will keep an eye on that too!by wodcutr - Technical Forum
Get the Bosch plugs...they are OEM and they don't cost too much comparatively. As far as the steering wheel nut, if you are really concerned you could put a little loctite on the threads or just order a new one, it probably doesn't matter to much. It is not as if we are talking brakes or anything here. You will know if the steering wheel nut gets loose as the wheel will have play inby wodcutr - Technical Forum

QuoteEarendil My guess would be that a high performance car does things that a normal car doesn't Is not the E30 a high performance car? I think that is why we have to buy H rated tires because we can go fast!by wodcutr - Technical Forum
Quotesdp If you fill to max pressure when cold, what happens when the you are driving and the tires are hot?.. You are probably over the max at that point. All tires are supposed to be filled when cold and yes the pressure does increase when they get warm, but they are not overinflated because the manufacturer expects that to happen!by wodcutr - Technical Forum
QuoteJohn Yust The numbers on the sidewall are maximums. BMW recommends 29 front and 32 rear in the book that came with my '87 325, so that's what I use. That seems to work OK for just normal around town driving, which is about all I do. It does look like the front tires wear a little faster at the outer edges, which indicates a little under-inflation, but it isn't bad. John Wby wodcutr - Technical Forum
Hey everyone - I have a question about what the proper inflation value is supposed to be for any given set of tires. Are you supposed to run at the maximum pressure stated on the sidewall or something less than that? I always thought that the max pressure was the proper inflation value, but every time I go into a tire store they always say my tires are overinflated. Are they stupid or am I? I was poking around s14 today and was looking at a pretty nice car that had a 2.5l s14 in it. The guy says he has over 16 grand into the motor alone. Thats a lot of money to keep something looking stock. the s52 would be a better cheaper build. Maybe I will just have to buy a roller to do the build.
