So, I'm still on the hunt for a newer car for the Misses. Yesterday we went to look at an E39 and fell in love, it was a 2000 and a stick car with a lot of options. Unfortunately it wasn't the car for us, just too many imperfections but that model, car, has captured our Does anybody have one of these or know about them? Thanks, Rickby rkj - Car Talk
Hi all, I'm trying to download a free video converter because all three video cameras of mine shoot with different file formats; mpeg2, mov and avi. Movie maker on my pc loves avi and the imovie on the mac loves mov. Neither likes the mpeg2 so I'm looking for a free download to a video converter so I can swap around different formats, on different computers. Looking at these sites haby rkj - Community Forum
QuoteJose Pinto We had one of those, the BMW600, from my mother in law (this is a factory picture). It is an enlarged Isetta, two doors (one in front like the Isetta, other to the right side for the rear seat), rear engine air-cooled flat, twin cyl. We had to sell caus it was very rot and would be lost before I could restore it. What a useful little unit, too bad they had such rust iby rkj - Car Talk

QuoteArcheo-peteriX No, no...a real car! Hey, that's my old car (screensavor), must have gotten it from you. You're such a good sharer Peter. Yup, it's no 246 but hey, it still looks cool. I had two customers that had 246 cars, I loved to see them come in for work.... Ferrari's first affordable sports car, what fun!by rkj - Car Talk

QuoteJose Pinto New digital boxes use the time from the network they log into, very useful to select the record times of your favorite stuff. DVD? Don't you have a zillion chances, video on demand, etc? Do you have time to watch DVD as well as cable TV?! Hi Guys, Lucky me, my cable company decided to go back to the cable box so I now have three remotes; dvd, tv and the cable box. This universal remote says it will do it all (if you program it right), Hah, hasn't so far! At least this cable box sets it's own time so I don't have that blinking 12:00 all the time staring me in the face Trying wwwuniersalromote.com, maybe that willby rkj - Community Forum

Quotenomis3613 After getting my hands dirty with my E30, my attitude to bells and whistles features (eg electric seats, rain sensing wipers, climate control, integrated GPS) has slowly changed. Whereas before I would think "wow, that's sooo cool, wish I had that", now my thought is "that's really complicated, would be a real hassle when it breaks, probably better off notby rkj - Car Talk
I probably won't be any help here Bob but I was wondering how living with a cabrio is like; Janet and I are thinking about buying one. I had an Alfa spyder in the 70's but I wonder if that's a car I can live with these days being loud and cold. I know we'll love it in the summer with the top down (especially in the evenings) but how bout the winter.... this car has to be a daiby rkj - Technical Forum

QuoteBob in Everett 195-60X14 is the stock size. I found my 195-65X14 Michelin all season tires at Costco about two years ago. Since I have a set of snow tires on plane steel 15 inch wheels that are on the car for 5 months of the year, my Summer tires have lasted quite a while. The larger tire is about 3% larger circumference than the stock size. It brings the speedo to a more accurate approxby rkj - Car Talk
QuoteBob in Everett I am also of like concern. The most maintainable ponies in my stable is the 67 Camaro. I have enjoyed the E-30 and hope to be driving mine as long as I am able. Just had a new top put on it this week so no more leaks. I know, I miss my old Iron (1939 Buick coupe and 47 ford coupe) but the Bmw is so much more fun and gets better mpg. QuoteBob in Everett I had to move up one size on the 14 inch wheels. I am running 195-65 instead of 195-60. The slight difference in diameter makes the speedometer indicate just about exact on speed. Have to be careful not to take too much liberty with the limits. Interesting, where did you find these and what are they?? 195x65 is the original size for a normal 14" E30, right?by rkj - Car Talk

QuoteBob in Everett Idle speed should give a noticeable fan speed. On thing you might do is take a little risk and put a gloved finger against the fan blade with the engine at idle. If you can easily stop it then it is not giving the torque it needs. Be careful though, as the temp increases, the torque could suddenly change. Reving the engine and watching how much air comes off the fan is aby rkj - Technical Forum
So, my car was close to overheating last week when I was at an idle, the fan clutch, I think is original, and has been giving me signs of rising temps at idle for a few months. Today I put a new one in and the temps are better at idle but if you shut the car off when its warmed up and at operating temperature and quick go turn the motor fan there's no resistance (like the old one).
