$50 and they're yours. I was going to post them on the regional BMW board, CL or ebay. Fair?by Milo - Technical Forum
Witchhunter cleaned the i injectors, $130 + $20 shipping that I'll never see again....by Milo - Technical Forum
So, after copious self-flagellation I could have left them in and been OK after my dumb no-code-throwin' computer figured it out? I could have them back in in an hour, maybe I'll try it this weekend just out of curiosity.by Milo - Technical Forum
I rigged a 9V battery to pop the old injectors open while I sprayed carb cleaner through backwards (didn't see much in the way of crud) and reinstalled. A quick run around the block and its back to normal, not enough time to give it a good run to see if the half-fast cleaning did any good. Sparkly clean injectors in a canby Milo - Technical Forum
They're different aren't they? I got a free set of E30 injectors, spent the money to have them professionally cleaned/flowed and now my car runs like crap. I thought I read on the interwebs that they were all the same but I'm obviously a doofus. Old injectors were black/gray, new injectors are light blue.by Milo - Technical Forum
Sorry for being AWOL, had to fly to Texas for a few days to be with my mom (health issues) Thanks for the information guys, an LSD is cool. If I had enough power to drift on anything but snow it would be even better.by Milo - Technical Forum
Thanks RJK! IIRC it spins reverse. My car motors through the snow nicely, the rear wheels seem to keep churning not favoring one wheel over the other so I thought I had LSD. Are Open Diffs "smart" as well?by Milo - Technical Forum
My Diff tab says S2.93, which means bog-standard '87 325 spec right? How do I tell if it's LSD or Open? Mattby Milo - Technical Forum
Just my type, rattlecanned and hopefully cheap. I'll ping him, know where he lives? I hammered the fender back to where it will fit, everything underneath is hamburger. I'm debating just leaving it ugly and driving it as the fender mounting rail is tweaked and the new hood doesn't fit very good. Maybe I'll find a really nice car with big miles and a busted timing belt to put mby Milo - Technical Forum
Spent the weekend jumping into the deep end of the bodywork pool...I don't like it. Took the bench vise off my bench and with a couple of 2x4s in the jaws did a decent job of straightening the accordion out, a big hammer and various wood blocks backed by a sledge hammer worked well. the outer headlight mounting tab was a complete loss so I'll have to pop-rivet some angle aluminum to theby Milo - Technical Forum
Taking my son to his basketball game this morning a kid in an F250 decided to stop halfway through a left hand turn and try a U-turn instead...going downhill in the rain I didn't have a chance. My fault for following too close I guess. The last picture showing the caved-in inner fender is the most worrying for me, is that fixable? Having a bad day, my laptop woke up with aby Milo - Technical Forum
I do believe the temperature reading will show -22F if the wiring from the temperature sensor is disconnected. The temperature sensor is on the air duct (for brake cooling) below the front bumper. (left side I think) I'll go look, thanks!by Milo - Technical Forum
QuoteBob in Everett Matt, Did the engine temp sensor fix the power surges? On order, hopefully here on Monday. Thinking of new plug wires as well because they're probably original, is there a recommended set to buy? I can spend $40 or $140 on new wires...there's got to be a point of diminishing returns.by Milo - Technical Forum
I bought another 6 button OBC to replace my lava-lamp looking thing that beeps at me every hour, a lot easier to put in than I thought it would be through the glove box and aftermarket stereo hole. While I was in there I pulled the cover off the DME to see if I had the stock chip (I do). The OBC is stuck on -22f so something is disconnected or missing, otherwise it's a good fix for $25.by Milo - Technical Forum
Is this the Coolant Temperature Sensor on a 325e? If it is I think I found my problem, reading 86 ohms at ~100 degrees which is out of range (I think, my Bently is at work)by Milo - Technical Forum
I'm new to this so I don't want to sound like I know what I'm talking about but...here goes. Don't all the sensor inputs rely on changing resistance on a known volotage? Isn't the oxygen sensor an exhaust analyzer of a sort that changes resistance as the oxygen level changes. I haven't spent a lot of time driving (motorcycle commuter) but I can say that theby Milo - Technical Forum
Over on the right rear corner under the hood is the connector going down to the O2 sensor, probing into the rear of the connector with voltmeter leads the smart guy found .8V (rich). He adjusted the screw until it was .5V. My adjustment screw was all the way in, not the way it's supposed to be I'm sure.by Milo - Technical Forum
FIXT...Much better anyway. I finally brought it to Conaway Motors (great shop BTW) and they put it on their "decarbonator" that cleaned the carbon deposits off of the intake valves. They also adjusted the screw on the AFM with the volt meter attached...it was way off. It revs much cleaner and seems to pull harder, I'll know more as I put more miles on it. Thanks for theby Milo - Technical Forum
Window fixed Tried to clean the old motor but it was too far gone, bought another from a local E30 parting specialist and it works great again. After not being able to fix my running issue it feels good to have a small victory. Thanks for the offer Bob, I'm only missing three so I'll put that on the "to order" list.by Milo - Technical Forum
Are they a standard auto parts store bit or do I have to order them from a specialist? Digging into my door motor today, yesterday I verified 12V at the motor with no motoring.by Milo - Technical Forum
Last night I unhooked the tank pump and jumped the fuel pump relay again. The pump by the filter spun up nicely...so, both pumps are working but the pressure is unknown because I haven't figured out how to do it yet. I'm waiting for an opportunity to shut the car down for a few days and get the injectors cleaned. As of now I need it to haul kids around. Next week, maybe.by Milo - Technical Forum
Tonights efforts focused on a new fuel filter and cleaning the ICV. The ICV is an older one I bought after my wife broke the connector off the other one helping me with the Bosal exhaust fiasco, it has the adjustment screw on it. The fuel filter was pretty easy except for the mystery part that Google told me was a pulse reducer for the fuel pump. It's in the garbage now, replaced with aby Milo - Technical Forum
Quotealanrw As to the oil service indictator leds not working, the batteries on the instrument cluster need replacing, minor issue. alan When I bought the car the lights were pegged in the"change oil" position. The interweb told me how to short pins together on the diagnostic connector to make it go away...it went away and 2000+ miles later it's still dark. I think I reset itby Milo - Technical Forum
Stepping back from the abyss this morning. Sorry guys, I got on the wrong track yesterday. Once I jumped the relay to make the pump come on, noticed the power was daisy-chained to both fuel pumps and noted the car ran (which it wouldn't with no power to both fuel pumps) I should have heard a little bell in my head. I'll get back at it after work.by Milo - Technical Forum
And another thing! My 325e has a build date of 6/07 on the door jamb. My ECU *should* be 0 261 200 154 according to Pelican and others, I've got the earlier 0 261 200 027 ECU in my glove box. Scratches head. I need some expertise.by Milo - Technical Forum
I haven't thought to pay attention if it runs differently with a full tank...never crossed my mind but it does seem to run better sometimes than others. As an aside my oil change interval readout doesn't work anymore either, I noticed it but never thought much about it until now. This is probably obvious but the oxygen sensor heater relay doesn't click at the same time the fby Milo - Technical Forum
Progress of the depressing sort... Decided check fuel pumps: -The tank pump doesn't come on with the key. No voltage at the pump. -12V @ #30 on the fuel pump relay but no control voltage on 85 or 86 with the key on. - When I jump #30 to #87 the pump purrs happily. -Control voltage comes from MOTRONIC CONTROL UNIT. Sound logical? Now for the dumb question part (I get one aby Milo - Technical Forum
What should happen if I disconnect the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator? My idle will immediately rise a little (barely noticeable) and over a a minute or so will creep up ~300-500 RPM. Mostly a mental excrcise trying to wrap my head around a new set of systems and how they all relate. It sure would be nice to have a car smart enough to throw a code and tell me what's wroby Milo - Technical Forum
QuoteBob in Everett It was great meeting you today and I agree that your symptoms are odd. There is more than one "flat" spot during acceleration. Another thing I thought of besides the injectors is possibly the fuel regulator. If that was a bit erratic in pressure control, it might cause a temporary power loss. Just a thought.
