The thing is that you don't want it to degenerate into a situation like Iraq where people start strapping bombs onto their children and sending them on their way. The extememists seem to always be waiting in the wings for this type of event and swoop in when the vacuum is created. Remember, in Iraq, the good people were supposed to be dancing in the streets much like France after we liberateby alanrw - Community Forum
Is there a lot of variation of that part thru the model years? Are they calibrated differently? I bet they have a potload of them at the Pick A Part. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Other than physically cleaning the wiper and resistor track, are there any electrical readings one looks for at the plug connector? Or do you simply clean it and the ECU figures out the rest? alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Do a Youtube and/or Google search for BMW Throttle Position Sensor Just found this: alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Hmmm, in a carbureted engine I would say your accelerator pump shot is too weak but these are fuel injected engine so no accelerator pump. Possibly something in the main butterfly setup? Dirty carbon tracks? If it was vaccuum, the idle wouldn't be solid, it would hunt. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
And usually, they get the shooter who then earns an all expense paid 20 year vacation courtesy of the state penal system. What baffles me is the notion that having to make your point cost some poor soul his life and the shooter 20 years or more. It just doesn't add up. just crazy, simply crazy. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Well, it still is somewhat, it's just that a new element and new way of resolving perceived transgressions has emerged. It is a real dichotomy. I mean, I have lived out here my whole life, unfortunately, it has deteriorated IMHO due to increased population. Streets are crowded, people are frustrated with short fuses which can set the stage for really stupid behavior. Sigh, I guess the drby alanrw - Technical Forum
Pfffffttt, small thinkers. I want a Delorean with a Mr. Fusion matter converter in the back..where we're going, we don't need highways. alanby alanrw - Community Forum
Well, what I have read/heard is that if you amortize the battery cost, you would be surprised at what the real cost of the car is per mile. And surprisingly, manufacturing a Prius compared to a conventional car is not as green a process as manufacturing a conventional car. I believe hybrids are viewed as a transient technology, not the answer. As for the Volt, what I don't understand is howby alanrw - Community Forum
Sigh, you try something like that out here and it usually results in car to car shooting. Doesn't take much to set off road rage these days. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Hmmm, that complicates things. I guess you are definitely on the correct path given all the parameters here. alanby alanrw - Community Forum
Peter, what about trying to install the program on your linux machine and if it works, just transfer the data over? alanby alanrw - Community Forum
What was Windows Home? Will the app run on Win98 or Windows 2000? alanby alanrw - Community Forum
Peter, I am with Rick on this one. First, I pray she has backed up all of her hard work onto a flash drive or cd. If so, then format and reload is the way to go here. Many times, it takes less time to do that then to attempt to scrub the drive of the virus. Make sure she has all the drivers for her system before taking this step. What OS version of Windows is she running? I have everything bacby alanrw - Community Forum
I think lead will actually kill a catalytic converter which results in the car failing smog tests (bi-annual requirement here in Calif.). alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
900 HP? I'm impressed. What does the setup do to the all up weight as well as weight distribution of the car itself? alanby alanrw - Community Forum
Just found this: The MSDS sheet says it has naptha in it so it is very very flammable so hazardous shipping probably applies. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Can Seafoam be shipped or is it considered hazardous? I have seen it all over the place here in California. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
OK, just found this: It should apply here. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Hmmm, well, what else could cause a rich idle condition? Also, the ECU is still probably relearning it's map. Vac leak would cause a lean condition. Guys, how do you test for leaky injectors? Pull the fuel rail and run the fuel pump? Theoretically, the injectors shouldn't spill gas unless the ECU grounds them? alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Stan, at one point, you were suspicicious that your engine was flooding. Possible the injectors are still leaking? What do the plugs look like? Also sounds like a small vac leak somewhere? alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Ah, the Eureka moment. I am glad is was something that was simple. Great persistance, great follow thru. Open the beers!!!! Most important, how does she run? Great observations about human nature in the loop but hey, we have all done stuff like that. I was working on the pool a couple of weeks ago. When I service the leaf basket on the filter pump, I usually open the electric box and shut ofby alanrw - Technical Forum
The interesting thing here with Flyboy's issue and with Rick's no start is that a flow chart would be invaluable. A logical series of yes-no questions which would direct the diagnostic flow to the correct answer/diagnosis. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
In all of this, I sure hope Ferd is right. At this point, it makes the most sense based on the reported symptoms. I keep waiting for the "Eureka!!!!!" post. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Engine sound attenuation? alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Good points guys. We know that a marginal battery is havoc to these cars. Easy enough to substitute out a battery from another car and see if it starts and revs up as it should in the driveway. Heck, even jumper cables could help at this point. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Hmmm, interesting point Rick. Anything in repair manual that deals with that? I know small block v-8s, you insert a tool into the distributor hole and spin the oil pump until you see oil coming out of the lifters, install the distributor and away you go. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Hmm, you already verified the return line is clear when you blew air into it via your mouth and heard bubbling in the tank. Unlikely all 4 injectors would go bad at once, in fact, almost impossible. But that fuel pressure regulator still niggles at my brain. Is there no diagnostic for that one? Any average fuel rail pressure values that could be looked at? And for giggles, what happens when the pby alanrw - Technical Forum
I have never never seen a cam mismarked when it comes to timing and my experience is that cam drive components have locator dowels just to prevent mistiming/install issues. I was just trying to think way out of the box on this one.. Well, I guess we are back to the fuel pressure regulator in that case? Perhaps your initial theory that the fuel pressure regulator was in a specific place for a lby alanrw - Technical Forum
Well, I am not familiar with the four cylinders. My thought process was if it did have a cold start injector and said injector was raining gas into the induction system, perhaps that was the answer. If the ECU' handles cold start enrichment via the injectors themselves, then I doubt that is the problem as I have never seen an ECU lose it's program (partially anyways).
