I'm just finishing up a graduate course on Alternative Energy Sources, and naturally we did a fair bit on solar panels. They are actually quite a bit more efficient in cold weather than when they're hot. Obviously the days are longer in summer and one tends to get more sunlight, but the fact that they have higher output when they are cold somewhat compensates for that. Quoterkj Hows school going Cab, anything interesting to report? School is going fine. I have another 2.5 weeks to go in this summer term and then I have 2 months off before the fall semester starts. I'm enjoying learning stuff and it's neat to be in school because I want to be, not because I have to be. Quoterkj Its sad, you'd think by now car manufactures would think a little in to the future about how cars are made and how well they last. QuoteArcheo-peteriX True but unfortunately most car owners will be tired of a car after 10 years and will use any rationalization to dump it for something new even though it almost never makes monetary sense. This is a big part of why the automobile is such a big polluter...not just the vehicle but all the industry surrounding it's manufacturing. Quotedaniel Quoterkj So, you went to turbines. I like the baskets better but they're hansom thanks. technically these are turbines, which i lust after: Oh, so you're the one who likes those wheels. Quotedaniel so why does every RWD sports car over the last 10 years have a staggered setup? Because it looks aggressive and sexy. Also because the manufacturers lawyers want the cars to understeer from the factory. That is the preferred "no lawsuits" handling.by Cab Treadway - Community Forum
Quoterkj Out here in the hamptons you have to turn right first, then you look for a place to make a left to turn in to turn around. Sounds like a lot of work but its the safest/quickest way some days. Of course you could sit there and wait for a break in the traffic if you're an idiot. What a lot of idiots here do is wait until the lane nearest them is clear, then pull into that and stop,by Cab Treadway - Community Forum
Quotedaniel QuoteCab Treadway Why are you going with a staggered setup? Do you like understeer that much? my car currently actually does not understeer unless done purposely. It may not now, but it will with wider rear tires! Nice that you can tune that out, though.by Cab Treadway - Community Forum
I think I was about, oh, 2-3 feet away from the flowers when I took those. I was really just playing around with the lens, b/c I've been reading various reviews about how lenses tend to not be as good wide open, so I wanted to take some pics not at the max aperture (I've been shooting a lot wide open). I dunno the answer, but I do try to plan my routes so that I make as many right turns onto busy streets as possible, and when left turns are required, that I'm turning from the busy street onto a less busy one. Quotedaniel nikon is releasing a 35mm f1.8 soon that i may look into for certain stuff, but for now the 18-250 is the one (once funds are achieved). I have the 35mm f/1.8 prime on order. I've recently discovered this link, which has TONS of great info, lens reviews, etc etc, almost all about Nikon stuff (which a few 3rd party compatible lenses thrown in). Quotedaniel I have started leaving my camera in its bag in my car (out of site, of course), so when that opportunity for a potentially ok photo comes along, I can take it, and possibly involve my car also, haha. Yup, I would totally do that as well. Maybe someday we'll get another body, and my wife and I can each have "our own" cameras. I could carry the P&S we just replaceby Cab Treadway - Community Forum
Cool, man. Thanks! I've been needing a good book or two. The manual that I have is about 10 years old, and barely mentions digital at all. I have heard that the D90 can really only be used for short bursts of video anyway, as it is really taxing on the sensor. I don't ever see myself as a "film-maker," I have a video camera just to capture neat things the kid(s) and dog(s) do. Thanks for the advice, but I'm pretty sure we won't be using it for video. As I said, if we want video, we use our video camera. I wouldn't expect a still camera to be particularly good at video, and vice versa, and that's not why we bought the camera. But I appreciate the advice all the same!by Cab Treadway - Community Forum

Quoterkj QuoteDave_G To me, the E30 M3 is an incredible car. Yeah, I'm a bit dated myself, but there's something about them that you just don't get with more modern cars.
