I bought Pilot Sport 3 for my Z4 (because SuperSports don't come in R17...).
Quite happy with them for the first 3 months (before summer), but they either don't like high temperatures (we have 37-38 Celsius constantly lately...), or the local roads disintegrate at these temperatures, because they are slippy as hell, my DSC light is on almost all the time. And I'm alway

I too have just bought some new tires. I had some 6 year old Michelin all season tires that were nearly to the wear bars. They were not very good in any weather any more but the new set of summer tires are very sticky on dry pavement. Probably not so much on wet. Will have to go back to the snow tires when the rain comes back.
Over here new tires come with a tag where on

We can't pick plate numbers over here.
The plates are assigned when the car is licensed for the first time, and the plate will be the same forever, or until it is exported to another country.
There are companies with fleet cars with plates in sequence, if they buy the cars all at once.
OTOH, we can tell the year and month of the car just from the plates.
Is handy to buy spare parts, in

There is another Portuguese tire factory, but they have been struggling for a while now, and may be belly-up very soon.
So much for Europe de-industrialization.
Maybe the market for low end products is on the way down. People prefer premium products. I only buy Michelin tyres.
Michelin are very good. That is because you know better and can afford the good stu

Hey people!
Time for new tires for the Benz, the Continentals were starting to show the mesh inside at the shoulder, after just below 20000km.
I ended up choosing the Mabor, it's a Portuguese brand that was purchased by Continental. "Mabor Sport-Jet 2"
I gather those are made in Europe, and sold only in few countries outside Portugal, but quite popular over here. The pric

Very nice!
How can that be, the licence plates sequence?
Can you choose the licence plate numbers?
I'm in awe!

Oh, the stereotype!
I imagine California to be a great place to live, where people from allover the world move to make a living there.
Over here, we meet most foreign people as tourists, and is not the same.
All the best for you Kelly and the luckiest Ottawan.
Enjoy life!

"Only good news" is fantastic!
Here, on the contrary, both my cars have a "waiting list" of small things needing to be fixed.
Cheers!

As Daniel points out, when driving manual transmission cars most of the time, the left leg can be somewhat lead footed
for the purpose! :-)
This is the reason why, when I drive an automatic, I MUST keep the left foot away from any pedal, or I would press the brake way to much into the floor.
:/
I am used to 3 pedals in the car, and never recal pressing the wrong one by mi

I'm glad to see old cars get saved, no matter how far gone they are. My E30 is rough looking, but it has a nice new set of wheels on it and it's in great mechanical shape, so I guess I'm right on trend.

My old car will be on trend in a few years allright!
But perhaps there will be another new big thing then...

There is a trend to "renew" the mechanical parts and leave the car body rusted....
The kind of money put into that would be enough for a lot of different cars
The can make my crapy ex-taxi look good!
What do you people feel about this?

I like that kind of math/physics, but I disagree on many of the assumptions. A formula one will perhaps do 5G at high speed, but not at low speed. It lacks downforce.
They also assume constant acceleration, while most cars accelerate a lot better at low speeds than high speeds.
When I am driving on a twisty road, I don't finish the braking before the corners, and start acc

Number 21 is close to me. There are places along the route where you can stop and enjoy the
scenery. I have also gone up this road a couple of times on bicycle, where you have more time
to see the view.
Looks a bit steep to ride the bike! I prefer to ride in leveled roads.

The road in first place is over here near me.
The problem with driving in scenic roads is you can either drive or check the scenery.

This kind of problems usually routes to bad wiring and electric contacts.
We have too many old plugs and wiring, something may fail intermittently and drive people nuts.
All fuses and relays were checked.
Make sure the ignition wirng is good.
Leaky air or vacuum pipes may cause trouble as well.
Oil dipstick counts as a vacuum leak when removed.
An odd thing, when I first bought the old

Aloha, long time no see, hope everyone is well.
Posting update as I been trying to find the cause of "random no start when hot" condition.
The problem was a crimp connector on YL/BK wire under steering column, probably for p.o. alarm system.
It seems that the one strand of wire left was enough to send signal to starter when cold, not so when wire got hot.

The engine rebuild is complete and road tested. Running smoothly and much more quietly. New clutch, new trans seals, and all new bearings in the motor. So my oil leaks should be over for a while. Gasket sealer on all the flat gaskets. No drips, no runs, no errors.
Hope it lasts a long way!
Nothing worse than a leaky engine...

Oval pistons may be normal, they are supposed to be round when hot.
If you have the chance to compare to known good parts, it would be nice.
I hope you have all those psecs from the manual, the Bentley or the Haynes...

I couldn't agree more with this!
Before I moved out of the city I used to come to work by bus, and I didn't needed any parking space at all!
Sometimes bosses have certain points to make, and certain things to make up for, so...
My commute now can't be done effectively by bus, I would need to either move to another house or get another job, neither would be easy now.

Some years ago, the top guy in the local managent where I work had the ugliest car in the car park.
He was driving a worn out, old Mitsubishi Lancer.
He has nothing to prove or to compensate for.
Around here is a common practice for business men to lease a nice company car, and then purchase it personallywhen the lease contract expires.
