781. Shakedown
Shakedown is my least favourite part of the entire rally weekend. Shakedown is a necessary evil though. It gives us a chance to try several different types of tires to check the grip levels on various surface types. It's far better to discover issues that can still be corrected now, rather than on the first rally stage when it's too late. And it gives me a chance to adjust, as it&

782. Recce
Our weekend got off to a very rocky start when I made it only through the second pass of Old-Detlor, the very first recce stage, before having to stop and puke. At the end of the second pass, after crossing the Iron Bridge, we were supposed to transit right through downtown Bancroft, then 40 kms south all the way down to start the next recce stage at the bottom of Lower Old Hastings. As I w

I've got all my in-car video processed now for the 2008 Tall Pines Rally and will post up the stories, photos, and vids for each stage. The first few stages you've all seen already, but the stories got lost in the transfer to new forum site. So I'll start by reposting them, then add the new ones in order.

Remember to flush all the toilets so the tanks are empty. Porcelain will crack if the water in the toilet tank freezes. And pour a little antifreeze into every drain that has an elbow trap which holds water, i.e. kitchen sink, toilets, bathtub, etc. You don't actually want to drain the water out of the elbows, because you'll get sewer smells coming up the drains. There is a speci

QuoteDave_GUnfortunately the errors you're seeing are coded into the canned Phorum templates themselves. Some of the templates are worse than others, and I will probably simply disable the worst ones. I am in the process of rewriting my own template based on one that at least works out of the box with all browsers, even though it still shows errors when you run it through an HTML validator.

QuoteDave_G... doesn't work with Chrome or Safari. To reiterate, if it's something that doesn't work for one particular browser but works in others, then it's most likely an HTML code validation error. It's not the browser's fault, but a fault in the webpage's HTML code. Some browser's are better at handling coding errors, whereas others will choke on the

It's bizarre. Today all the snow is melted off the roads, as is all the traffic. I guess people were so fed up with the nonsense yesterday and the day before, they all decided to stay home today. Ottawa traffic webcams:

Traffic in Ottawa this week has been STUPID. First, one of the five bridges spanning the Ottawa River, joining Ottawa on the Ontario side with Gatineau/Hull on the Quebec side, was closed for fear of its imminent collapse after cracks were discovered in its structure. That of course created traffic mayhem as commuter traffic had to be rerouted. As if that wasn't bad enough, the next d

Quotenomis3613PS Cab, you have the coolest emoticon ever in your signature!!! If I hack it to put the stick on the left (for my Aussie Beemer), that wouldn't be plagiarism, would it??? Fixed.

QuoterkjIs there anyway I can delete one of my posts? In addition to the "reply" and "quote" buttons at the bottom of any message, on posts that you yourself have made there is an "edit" button. Even though you can't remove the message entirely, you should be able to "edit" the content to remove the bits you want to erase. But if someone else has

Quotedaniel Everyone share their favorite (perhaps most visited, perhaps not) website(s) here, other than BENN of course. You mean there actually are websites out there other than BENN?

QuoteDave_G And Safari does the same thing as Google Chrome. Firefox, IE, and Konqueror all work OK. I haven't checked Opera yet, but a quick search tells me it will behave the same as Chrome and Safari. Whenever a page works in one browser but not another, one should always suspect HTML validation errors. There are several online validators available that will accept a page URL and t
