They forgot the part where "my" robots are working on the car. Hint: Where did the body color come from?

Some years ago, the top guy in the local managent where I work had the ugliest car in the car park. He was driving a worn out, old Mitsubishi Lancer.

QuoteBob in Everett Yes a complete rebuild is probably what it needs. I plan to replace all the bearings and piston rings. Hope the pistons can be re used. The fluids are all drained today and most wires and tubes disconnected. I hope I can remember where they all go when it comes time to connect them all. That is what the mobile phone is for. Take pictures before removal.

QuoteDave_GIt's good to see someone else ice racing their iX, though. I missed our first local event here because of exhaust problems with mine. I'm hoping to get it back out on the ice in a few weeks. The iX is so totally at home on the ice, it's a joy to drive. My experience is that the RWD E30s are more fun to drive than the iX on ice. The AWD makes the weight balance very fro

I found some statistics for electric car sales in Europe (and Norway) in 2014. 0 All electric cars: 56.393 (18.090) 1 Nissan LEAF: 14.658 (4.781) 2 Renault Zoe: 11.227 (434) 3 Tesla Model S: 8.734 (4.040) 4 BMW i3: 5.804 (2.040) 5 Volkswagen e-up!: 5.365 (2.971) 6 Volkswagen e-Golf 3.328 (2.018) That means 32 percent of the electric cars in Europe are sold in Norway, and Renault has

QuoteJose Pinto My Benz is an ex-taxi, it came with both right side shocks completely shot, one wheel bearing, several suspension arms, etc... Bad suspension causes premature and uneven tire wear. I am inclined to believe it has to do with the hard life and neglect, more than the roundabouts... There are more bumps and holes at the right side of the road than in the middle, this is my experience

QuoteJose PintoAlso I think left and right temperatures must be equal, even when driving at a lot of roundabouts, because the round left portion is compensated by turning right to enter and leave the roundabout. Unless you would do the entire circle, to decide which way to go. Several times. And very fast. I have heard that the taxis in my area have around 20 percent higher wear on the right

There is however one catch with your 10 percent rule. The amount of heat that goes into your tires varies a lot with how you drive. Driving down an urban street at 30 km/h on a rainy day will hardly heat the tires up at all, while driving a few laps at ten tenths around your local gokart track on a dry summer day will cook your tires. If there are lots of roundabouts, you will find that the pre

Yup, the M40 has self destructing cams and rocker arms. I had mine rebuilt to M43 technology with roller rockers. Too bad it was completely destroyed later by a failing timing belt. Went to M42 after that.

The multirobot remote control technology is amazing. In Norway, there is a company making military helicopters. The weight of the unmanned unit is a whopping 18 grams, including steerable cameras. It has a range of 1.5 km. I guess it is not exactly a toy. It is used by allied forces in the Middle East.

QuoteJose Pinto There are countries willing to support the chaos, and bring down oil prices to serve their agendas. Saudi Arabia and Israel profit from this, because compared to IS, if you dim the light they almost look like decent countries. China is loaded with money, they are the beacon of progress now. I would think that Saudi Arabia are losing money due to low oil prices, just like Norway,

QuoteBob in Everett Jose, Your realization that money is required to run a war of any kind raises the question about "who benefits?" from all the turmoil. Many will say that there could not be a conspiracy that could do this. Why not? Someone is benefitting from the conflict and are willing to pay for those new trucks. Maybe the money is simply stolen, local government money that

QuoteBob in Everett Ove, You have correctly observed the large problem in the middle east. Sharia law is a pollitical system masquerading as a religion. Not only Sharia law, but mixing religion and politics. Israel is doing it too.

I think it is a disaster to mix politics and religion, which is done in most muslim countries. The separation of the two could also be better in countries like USA, which have claimed to have God on its side in wars. The Middle East is however the worst region when it comes to mixing it. Until they can solve this issue, there will never be peace. Turkey could be a template of how it can be done f

A German guy called Jürgen Todenhöfer managed to infiltrate and live with ISIS for a while. He has reported some of the goals from that group. They want to terminate all people with the wrong religion. This includes moderate Muslims, atheists, polytheists (Hindu), Shia Muslims and so on. Strangely enough, the only two religions that are considered worthy of living, are Jews and Christians,

QuoteJose Pinto It works, but is not cheap to build. :/ A sign of the times, they make a supercar out of it, and not some mid-sized car to be accessible and used by common people. That is acually a smart strategy. When the technology is new, it is too expensive for most people, but as a supercar, rich people a willing to pay for it. That way the company can finance the product developmen

QuoteArcheo-peteriX So, do any of you have potential new car plans in the new year? We are considering replacing the F20 116i with a new car. The facelift version of the one series will be launched at the Geneva motorshow in March, so this one is a hot candidate with the new 3 cylinder engine from Mini F56 Cooper. The Cooper will also be considered. It has is a lighter and more sporty car, bu

QuoteMichiel 318iS It will have to be a small tree, the touring its cargo space isn't that spacious... I once managed to get 5 complete wheels with tires and 4 wheels without tires into the trunk of my E30 318iS. And that wasn't even a Touring! How many modern cars can do that?

QuoteBob in Everett You must have a very big tree if those will fit. You should get the Touring before Christmas, so you can use it to drive the tree home.

QuoteFerdinand One of the things I used to stress was not cranking the steering wheel over even more when the car is already understeering. Come to a corner, turn the steering wheel, car refuses to turn and plows straight ahead, most students would instinctively crank the steering wheel several more times until it's at full lock, only making matters worse. When eventually slowed enough to

QuoteFerdinand I didn't know you that you did hang gliding. I had an opportunity to try a friend's hang glider once during university, on a very small gradual slope barely inches off the ground. But I was completely hooked. Other than skydiving in a wingsuit (which I would never try), hang gliding is pretty much as close as one can get to flying like a bird. But I also recognized ri

QuoteFerdinand There is always the chance of something unexpected happening. But, life wouldn't be worth living if we were afraid to get out of bed every morning. It's all a question of managing acceptable levels of risk. Even riding your bicycle is fraught with risk, no? Yes, bicycling is dangerous as well. I was participating in an off road bicycle race far beyond my skill level

With your background from crash analysis, and seeing these brutal crashes in the rallies you participate in, aren't you afraid it will happen to you? It is not only a big dent in the economy, but it could also do serious damage to your health. When I briefly tried rallying, I was rather surprised at the risk my competitors were willing to take. It almost seemed like some of them were embaras
