Not as powerful as the S50, but still powerful enough for an E30, and a lighter engine. Is the gearbox tilted to the right to fit?by Ove Kvam - Community Forum
QuoteBob in Everett Ove, You are correct about the different engines installed in E-30. At the "E-30 picnic" I have seen a lot of odd ones. Currently I have a S-50 in mine. Wonderful improvement. Yes, I have seen plenty of S50 converted E30s. That engine works surprisingly well in the car. Is it the S50B30 or S50B32? A guy I know has a tuned S54 in his E30, making it very fastby Ove Kvam - Community Forum
I think the E30 must be very high up on the list of car models to have had the most engine swaps worldwide. People have put all sorts of crazy engines into them. This one is one of the funniest ones I have seen so far.by Ove Kvam - Community Forum
Are you going to drive them to their new home, one by one?by Ove Kvam - Community Forum
In Norway, it is rather cheap to own and insure classic cars. It seems to have become popular to collect antique cars in Europe lately, as they grow faster in value than bank interest. Particularly old Porsches have become very valueable over the last few years.by Ove Kvam - Community Forum
QuoteMichiel 318iS The factory is really amazing to see, especially because they do so much on a relatively small location, some robots really have to squeeze body panels through openings to get them in the right position because of the lack of space. We struggle with space even in the production plant for the biggest cars in Dingolfing. In the paint cabins, the current 7 series is REALLY widby Ove Kvam - Community Forum
QuoteBob in Everett Ove, I am having trouble getting the video to play. How many E-30 were in attendance? I was recently in Munich and Vienna and saw three E-30 convertibles. Did not see any coupes or sedans. I am not sure how many E30s there were, but I would guess 50-70.by Ove Kvam - Community Forum

QuoteBob in Everett QuoteBob in Everett There was a nice BMW display going on in Tacoma, Washington. The Collection of Peter Gleeson was on display. Well, he said only part of it. Fantastic display included a Z1. That car is sooo cool. His is red and he says his wife used to drive it in England. I sure wish I could afford a nice one. QuoteBob in Everett Volunteered yesterday at the Oktoberfest event Michelin sponsored. It was a new M3 with Michelin Pilot Sport III tires on a autocross type track with a wet section for two laps then an identical M3 with some other brand high performance tires for two laps. I was pretty amazed at the difference in feel of the car and how well planted it felt with the Michelin tires compared tby Ove Kvam - Car Talk
QuoteBob in Everett This is the wheel I have and just wondering if putting a screwdriver to it is the right thing. Oh. That is a really rare wheel. None of the normal ones. I don't know how to dismantle that kind.by Ove Kvam - Technical Forum
QuoteBob in Everett My 1989 cabrio has an unusual stock steering wheel that appears to be a "sport" wheel with three spokes. This is a pre-airbag car. So, there is a large round horn button in the center of the steering wheel. I want to remove the wheel but am not sure how to get to the 22mm nut to remove it. Does the horn button just come out if I pry it out? This sounds like oneby Ove Kvam - Technical Forum
QuoteBob in Everett The cabrio has a smaller diameter flex disk than the sedan. My new S50 motor is more than the little guibo can deal with. 5000 miles and it needed replaced. Has anyone developed a replacement for such for a cabrio? Not sure what the issues may be. There may be volume integration issues with the larger diameter. For sure would have to modify the drive shaft. It has someby Ove Kvam - Technical Forum
Looks like fun. You were not tempted to try with DSC Off? That is what I would have been using all day at an event like that. Let me guess that you tire wear is mostly the outsides of your front tires. I see you get the steering rather crossed up here and there. That really scrubs the edges off the tires. It is better to go off the throttle and try to get out of the understeer. You may want to bby Ove Kvam - Community Forum
Tires can be stored for years without problems if you keem them in a dark, dry and cool place.by Ove Kvam - Car Talk
I did a tire search now based on the 195/64-14 size from my online tire supplier in Germany, and the best tire available was the Continental PremiumContact 2. If I had a set of 14" E30 wheels, that is what I would have gone for. They are decent allround summer tires.by Ove Kvam - Car Talk
QuoteFerdinand Here's a video just posted by my brother about his old car. He loves his 911. I did the aerial drone shots for him, and even got to drive his car for the first time while he did the external shots. https://vimeo.com/152094245 That video is awesome! Editing, sound, camera work, and the story are all top notch.by Ove Kvam - Car Talk
I agree, Ferdinand. But the drawing of the gearbox had me a bit confused. Isn't there usually a direct gear, where the green and yellow shaft are connected with no gears? So for towing longer distances, should we put the transmission in second gear, and ride the clutch instead? Or maybe at least some of the time?by Ove Kvam - Car Talk
QuoteJose Pinto I know nothing about the automatic internals, my advice is to walk to the gas station and bring back a can of gas, instead of pushing the whole car. yahoo Indeed, that is the normal procedure. I am also not familiar with automatic transmissions, but even cars with manual gearboxes can be hard to push, particularly if the brakes are slightly stuck on.by Ove Kvam - Car Talk
Nice video. When they like the 325i so much, just imagine how much they would have liked the 318iS! :-)by Ove Kvam - Car Talk
I have tried to answer several times, but the forum will not allow my messages. Says it will have to be approved by a moderater. Oh well, trying again. We have similar concepts of peer to peer car rental in Norway as well. Seems like most people want to rent a cheap and reliable car that is big enough for their temporary need. Some flashy cars like Porsches can be rented for higher cost. Seemsby Ove Kvam - Community Forum
We have similar rental concepts around here. I think most people want a cheap and reliable car, big enough for their temporary need. They will also charge extra for a flashy car like a Porsche. Vintage cars are probably in low demand.by Ove Kvam - Community Forum
I think most people who rent cars this way, want a cheap and reliable car that is big enough for their temporary need. The ones that cost extra are often very flashy cars like Porsches. I don't think there will be much of a market for a vintage car.by Ove Kvam - Community Forum
QuoteFerdinandThe guy I bought it from said he bought it from someone whose online name was "Drift King". Who knows what kind of life this car led before that. Sounds like a happy car life! :-)by Ove Kvam - Community Forum
QuoteJose Pinto QuoteBob in Everett That goes along with the concept that it is "hard to drive a bargain." Cars can be addictive. At least it seems like it in my case. Who really needs 6 old cars. Is not about needing, Jay Leno says something like "you would have too, if you could! Who wouldn't?" He has all kinds of old and new cars, big and small, fast and slow... Last 18 years I have had the same employer, been living away from my parents, and got no kids of my own. Changed apartment one time, and bought 4 BMWs. Sold one Volvo, and 3 BMWs. Good luck with new challenges.by Ove Kvam - Community Forum
QuoteFerdinand I put my snow tires on the car this week. Checking the summer tires as they came off I discovered one has a nail in it. No wait, it has a couple of nails in it. No, it has eighteen (18) little nail heads visible! What the heck? All just in the one tire, right-rear. I got my needle-nose pliers and pulled each one out. Luckily they were all just embedded in the treads, noneby Ove Kvam - Community Forum
QuoteMichiel 318iS Bicycle tyres are ridiculously expensive compared to car tyres. Actually high end bicycle tyres cost only about half as much as high end car tyres. And you only need two of them! :-) My Skike (roller ski) wheels are however rather expensive, considering that they wear out very fast due to the small diameter.by Ove Kvam - Community Forum
