QuotesdpWould this be way over the top for a layperson like myself, who has done home repairs but nothing at this level. I believe it requires special tools and is not a Do-it-Yourself kind of job, but here's a document explaining some of the steps. http://www.members.lycos.co.uk/maxboost/docs/Gearbox_recon.pdfby Ferdinand - Technical Forum
QuoteKellyMy oil sensor does function correctly. (When I park on a hill, the light will appear.) That's reassuring. Before I replaced the leaky head gasket, my car used to have a slow but steady oil leak. The oil level warning on the overhead check panel used to come on when the engine oil level dropped below half way between the full and low mark on the dipstick. QuoteCab Treadway They do some non-oval racing, don't they? I think you're right. Back in the good old days, when they were called IndyCar, then CART, then ChampCar, it was a mix of low-speed and high-speed ovals and road circuits. Then they split with the Indy Racing League running only on ovals, and ChampCar still doing both until they went bankrupt. Now the IRL is doing bothby Ferdinand - Community Forum
QuoteKellyAfter, I unplugged the sensor and turned the key one click, then the light did turn on. The coolant level sensor is a small reed switch held closed by a magnet in the float when the coolant level is high enough. If the coolant level drops too low, the float sinks, and the reed switch opens triggering the overhead warning light. Unplugging the connector causes the same open-circuit, trby Ferdinand - Technical Forum

QuoteArcheo-peteriXIn a nut shell, all the burner is doing is taking the compressed image file *.iso and uncompressing it while copying it to the CD/DVD. In the uncompressed format, it is directly readable and/or executable. But how does it know to uncompress the iso file, rather than just copy the iso file onto the CD?by Ferdinand - Community Forum

QuoteKellyBrakes - ... What if I needed to apply the brakes as hard as possible for rapid stopping? Read the article linked by Peter. It explains everything. It's a good thing to use the brakes as hard as possible occasionally, as described in the article, to clean off any buildup on the rotors and properly bed the brake pads. QuoteCab TreadwayWhen you're going forward, the shape of the contact patch is less important (unless you're dealing with driving through snow/rain, in which case a narrower tire is better b/c it has less snow/water to have to displace) That's an important factor. A narrow tire will cut through snow, whereas a wide tire will tend to float up on the snow losing contact with the roadby Ferdinand - Community Forum

QuoteArcheo-peteriX The oil light comes on when you're a quart or more low even if the filter is not loose and leaking. The oil light in the overhead check panel comes on to warn of low oil levels.
