QuoteJose Pinto There was a chart here somewhere where one could see how tire pressures affects handling. Something like: More pressure at the front >> less understeer Anyone recalls where it si? Thanks in advance! That was in a previous BEN carnation. You'll have to try the way back machine. If I remember correctly it was produced by Ove or at least he had input to it.by Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum

How many of you remember or even know where it came from? It was a special gift from a one time super forum member. Hid name was Vlad and he made this avatar just for me. Sadly; he wandered away from E30s and from our small community. I don't know whatever became of him but I have this avatar that will always remind me of a guy that I considered special Hey, Vlad; if you are out tby Archeo-peteriX - Community Forum
I would opt for the simple solution first...check/swap the relay. This is free and costs nothing...tracking down something sinister always costs money and angusish. Man oh man; you guys with your E30 woes just make me so jealousby Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum

Quoterkj QuoteBob in Everett Looks like a winner to me. Except for one thing...it is not an E-30...but then they are not making many of them any more. When I look at all the geegaws on the new car I get a whole new kind of nervous This is also a car you won't be doing much work on yourself either; they are far more complicated than the E30by Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
Quoterkj I'm thinking of buying one, 2001 330ci. I'm just wondering if there are any pitfalls or things to watch out for, even any things that I might be especially looking for on inspecting this thing. I think by and large it's a pretty good model Bmw and should be a nice car to live with. I got a small settlement for my army service in Vietnam so I think I should drive it well...by Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
QuoteBob in Everett Most gas pumps these days have a vapor return feature on the nozzle. The vapor from the tank is exchanged into the gas station storage tank as the car fills. Likewise when the tanker truck comes to fill the station tanks, it captures the vapor from the tank and puts it into the truck as the fuel empties into the station tank. There is some air but the fuel air mixture iby Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum
QuoteBob in Everett There is a new movie out about TWA 800 that might lead to a different conclusion. Gasoline vapor is heavier than air and the tank is full of gasoline vapor that is not a flammable mixture. Jet fuel is not very volatile so the tanks are vented with fresh air to a level below the flammabilty point. Just saying... Sorry; it is impossible to keep air out of the gas tank. QuoteBob in Everett The fuel vapor is heavier than air so it is not a flammable mixture. Fuel vapour by itself is not flammable but there is also air inside the fuel tank. No matter the air is on top of or under the fuel vapour; a spark woould ignite itby Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum
QuoteBob in Everett The contnuing saga of my leaking coolant has been diagnosed. It appears that the chinese made Stant thermostat failed in such a way that it allowed the enging to overheat while maintaining the fluid temp at the sensor at the correct level. There is an extension on the thermal actuator that closes the coolant bypass when the engine gets warm. This extension was stuck on withby Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum

Hi Kelly, Great to hear from you again. Sorry that work isn't so much fun Thanks for the great tutorial on RVM removal and installation. I know this will be a pain saver for anyone who has to do it. Sure hope you get more time in Beemie with all this great weatherby Archeo-peteriX - Car Talk
Quotealanrw Well, the interesting thing here is everything was fine until it rained. When you crank, is the tac bouncing? Are you getting voltage to the coil? Now it becomes a matter of tracing. I bet there is a connector somewhere in there that is damp and corroded. The art now lies in finding the bad component. Relays? I'm with you on the relays; particularly the main relay.by Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum
I think that repair shops would do something like a dynaflux test to find any cracks. It doesn't involve pressurization. If you have access to the penetrants and dyes; you could do the test yourself. Google 'dynaflux crack check' for details.by Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum
Bob, If it turns out the head is cracked; the only real solution is to replace it. Welding cast aluminum is tricky at best but nearly impossible to do successfully in the convoluted shapes and recesses in the head Finding a good donor at the wreckers shouldn't be a big problem but finding a good one may prove a little more difficult. A good rebuilder can analyze the head for cracks befby Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum

Unless the engine has been left to sit for lengthy periods; water in the oil won't hurt anything. It's when it's left too long and the bare metal becomes exposed to air that rust can form. Water(oxydation aside) is an excellent lubricant! Also; if the crank case oil doesn't look like milk; you have got at it before any real damage can have occuredby Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum
QuoteBob in Everett After my trip Memorial week end trip, I decided it has to be the leakage is going into the crankcase somehow. Took the plunge and ordered up the gasket kit and several other parts to change the head gasket. There sure are a lot of parts that have to come off. I have worked on it for about 4 hours already and have just about got the timing belt off. Discovered I probably shby Archeo-peteriX - Technical Forum
