QuoteJose Pinto Several major projects at once: The e30, the starter motor and the baby. RESPECT! Some of those projects were just a matter of minutes :-) QuoteJose Pinto Next time you leave a car parked for a long time, (assuming your garage is leveled) don't pull the handbrake, just leave it in gear and chock two wheels. OK... Since I can't edit because I'm to slow (changed from iPad to PC after the first paragraph and took to long to finish my post) The E30 has been standing for 3 years now and that's left some traces. The E30 has been standing for 3 years now and that's left some traces. There's the fuel leak under the intake manifold and the handbrake is stuck. Thought I'd tackle the rear brakes first. Tried to pull the brake discs, no luck, the brake shoe is united with the disc. Thought I'd might be able to free it by moving the car. Since I have the massive fuel leak I don't waby Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum
I would guess you'd need a scope, DVM's are usually to slow to pick up the signals.by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum
I'd keep those parts, they'll be getting harder to get a hold off, especially as two of them are quite new.by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum
The pump in my E46 is under the driver seat, so fuel level doesn't have an impact on pump temp, except for warmer fuel when nearing the empty mark.by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum

That's s*cks... Do you mean the malfunction was already there from the start? And was it caused by Stant? In that case I'd try to make them pay for the head and labour.by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum

Fix your odo then ;-) The E46 puts on the low fuel light at a DTE of 150-170 km, way to soon. Don't want to run it past DTE 50 km though, especially at summer times, those common rails heat up the fuel a lot and when there's little left in the tank... Don't want it to fail before I've got 400.000 on the clock...by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum
Quoterkj Normaly the motor has to be operating temps for the crack to open (but not always, some will leak dead cold), and for you to see any coolant flow at the cam stands in the head casting, you might even have to run the motor while you're doing your pressure tests but I think it's worth a try and Hey, it's free! I meant I had never seen it until I ran so long that te low fuel light came on. I thought it was broken as I had never seen it when starting the car.by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum

Oh, and I'm not a fan of the X and GT series. They're for men with a small you-know-what.by Michiel 318iS - Car Talk
On my previous 318iS, the low fuel light never came on when cycling the key. I thought the light was gone, so I went to the pump in time. Until that one day I couldn't reach a pump in time, or so I thought, and the light came on, bright, it hurt my eyes.by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum
The new 4-series is just a new name for the 3 coupe, no new segment, just a new name. Odd numbers are sedans, even numbers are coupes. The next 1-series based coupe will be called 2-series.by Michiel 318iS - Car Talk

Is it really the muffler that did this, didn't you change anything else before noticing the mileage going bad? If it should be the muffler, do you have the right type?by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum
Imagine all the exhaust gasses in a city being emitted by just sitting in front of a red light, engines running for nothing. It won't make a large difference in your fuel consumption, but all tiny bits counted together, it makes an awful lot as a grand. As long as your battery is able to recover afterwards, it makes sense turning off the engine for any stop longer than 30 seconds. I donby Michiel 318iS - Car Talk
What I meant was that it's pointless to keep it in D, using a lot more fuel than needed to be standing still. Best solution would still be to turn the engine off at longer pauses.by Michiel 318iS - Car Talk
At red-lights I'd certainly put it in N. No need for the extra load on the engine, wanted to creep but being held by the brakes.by Michiel 318iS - Car Talk

OK. Still the first step: replace the cap. Your system needs pressure. When under pressure, the boiling point of your coolant rises. Luckily, you don't live in California, otherwise it wouldn't have held up for 8 years.by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum
Get the cap fixed first. Check the spark plugs. Is one of them much cleaner than the rest? Then you might have coolant leaking into the cylinder. But check the cap first.by Michiel 318iS - Technical Forum

Very nice! Enjoy it! And it's just in time for summer :-) What's the first project, turning it into a manual? ;-) I drove a 1M Coupé a couple of weeks ago, as the tyres had gone already I allowed myself some drift action, it had been years since I drifted a car and I never felt so confident, this one was really easy to handle.
