QuoteTo start with I'd like to thank you for your eloquent post in another thread that was very gay rights friendly. That issue hits close to home for me. My sister and her partner deserve the same treatment and rights as everyone else in this country. I'm glad you support that. Thanks, I guess. That's just common sense to me, though. Quoterkj The fact that you're against so much of what Obama stands for puzzles me Cab. If you look at what hes done already, in just one day, it makes all the sense in the world; and the way he speaks and what he sez sure sounds wonderful to me. QuoteArcheo-peteriX It's kind of sad that so many die hard republicans are such sore losers. I've seen no fewer than 6 threads locked and/or deleted on some other forums I frequent. QuoteDave_G Your explanation makes perfect sense from a physics theory perspective. However, does this imply that a monstrously powerful car like a 500-HP Corvette Z06 should accelerate in a straight line just as quickly with skinny 185s as it does with the 325s that it comes with? Experience would suggest otherwise, i.e. that more powerful cars need wider tires to put the power down to the road.by Cab Treadway - Community Forum

There is no intended flak from my viewpoint, I apologize if I've come across that way. In motorsports, bigger brakes are, in general, better than smaller brakes. It's certainly not something I would get rid of if my car came that way. I'm just saying that for my intended purposes, I don't think a BBK is necessary, or even desired. QuoteArcheo-peteriX On a street car, the tires are designed to maintain the same patch size and shape as much as possible so that tire life and handling are optimized. I doubt there is much difference, if any between the wide and narrow tires under acceleration as far as patch size is concerned. There may not be a huge difference, but I don't think the entire reason behind why high performby Cab Treadway - Community Forum

I've never felt any problem with the E30 brakes, and while yes, there's a lot more power from the S52, the car doesn't really weigh all that much more, so I would be willing to give the stock brakes a chance before deciding they need to be upgraded. Quotedaniel QuoteArcheo-peteriX I wonder if we need to revisit that old tire 'patch area' thing again? Or is this just about the macho look factor of the tires? yes fatter tires look cooler. why do they make tires of different width if the width doesnt make a difference? QuoteArcheo-peteriX I've never understood the contrary logic used to justify bigger brakes on a car just because it has more hp. If the weight of the care is basically unchanged, then the amount of braking power needed to stop the car from any speed will be the same irrespective of what the power is. Quotedaniel Well, having bought the car with the 5-lug already done, I didn't really have much choice. Agreed, I wasn't trying to say the 4-lug was necessarily preferred, just saying that when I ever find the money to do this conversion, I'm happy with what I have as far as wheels go. My wheels are 15x7.5, so I may be able to put enough width on there, if I run into the same prby Cab Treadway - Community Forum
Nice. A definite improvement over the old wheels! Wheel selection is why, when/if I get around to my own S52 conversion, I intend to keep the 4-lug E30 setup. I love my Ronal LS wheels, and have no desire for any wheel larger than 15". Plus, I already have the steelies with Blizzaks for ice racing. Yesterday, Molly and I took the most wonderful walk through our snow-covered dog park. The weather was perfect, around 15°F, sunny, and the trails were all snow-packed and not icy. Beautiful. Right now it's snowing gently, with about 5 inches having fallen so far, and another inch or two still to come. I love it. Long live winter!by Cab Treadway - Community Forum

I will most likely, in fact almost definitely not be at the Ice Race on the 25th. Other than the fact that my two choices for driving are either the FWD (ick) Mazda3 or the E46 (which I took to an ice race once and it sucked beyond words), my wife will work that weekend, which means I can't run off and play all day while she watches the baby. I've so far only tried one brew from Otter Creek, the Raspberry Brown Ale (their Winter brew). I can barely taste the raspberry, so it's not too fruity, and overall it was a very nice brown ale. Yum. Archie, I tried a new one last night, from a brewery in Syracuse called Middle Ages Brewing Company: Not bad at all! I may have to search out more from them, if my local shop carries any. I was trying to keep it local and get some Wachusett and/or Otter Creek (Dave should recognize that name, I hope!), but they were sadly out of stock of my favorites. Quotejaffar I'm considering upgrading to FWD at this point. That's a major downgrade!!!!! The best car I've ever driven in the winter, hands down, is my E30 (with Blizzak snow tires and LSD). RWD gives you independent control over both ends of the car. With FWD, if your front wheels start to slip, then you are totally out of luck; you can't accelerate, steer, or stop.by Cab Treadway - Technical Forum
