I hated those boats at first, but hey, they're sail boats (I gotta like em!. And after I saw how those guys had to work them I had to give them credit. I wonder what they will come up with next, it's winner chooses I think I'd like to see a return of the J boats now that's a race boat! Cheerio Matesby rkj - Community Forum
QuoteJose Pinto The MB 250D is driving me crazy with small and not so small parts breaking almost every month, so I feel like buying a car kit. It has a list of about 1000€ worth of things I would like to fix to have it the way I think it should be. So, I am keeping an eye out for some deal to replace it before I am completely bankrupt. I don't know if anybody is interested in these races but they have been quite something... The final race is today on the west coast but you can watch it on the AC's website the evening after the race (that's how I've been following it), just go to video and I'm pretty sure all the races are there to see, it's a youtube thing. QuoteMichiel 318iS I was around as well, must have been in 2002 or 2003 if I'm right. That was a good group, a neat cross section from all over the world. I miss reading all that stuff, but Hey, This place is good tooby rkj - Community Forum
QuoteBob in Everett My dad was a drivers ed instructor for highschool students. So every ride with him was a lesson. I have reluctance to follow any truck with a load that looks the least bit unsecure. Stuff coming the other way is not very predictable so I was very lucky to have seen the tire far enough ahead to be able to do anything about it. After a few hundred miles yesterday, I have to report, It's all good. The car is a little on the stiff side (came with M suspension and 17 inch wheels) but that's fine with me. The 3 litre motor with the six speed manual is a dream to work with. Yeahh, just like the old days! Only with a more balanced platform Love this car...by rkj - Car Talk
I also think, these days, people really are not connected to their cars like years ago (when cars were not as good). In general though, I think americans just take crappy care of their autos period! Yes, the road is a scary place. I'm so glad I have some newer, faster cars so I can lead that dance out there... Rickby rkj - Car Talk
Yes, this was on the 330. Wow, what a load off that was! I saw my whole investment go up in smoke there for a momentby rkj - Car Talk
So, ever since I bought this new car I've been having nagging fears I bought a stinker. I've been doing work on it while I was waiting on the title (had to be noterized by the pervious owner and signed over). I finally got everything together last week late and made the dmv, got plates and was looking forward to a nice long drive. I took off and headed for some neat back roads out onby rkj - Car Talk
QuoteBob in Everett Was cruising North on I-5 in moderate traffic at the speed limit and saw a tire coming across the diamond lane headed South. It was going a bit diagonal into the rest of the traffic lanes, the next one of which was mine. Must have come off a car going South and jumped the guard rail. I was sure hoping as I got on the brakes that it did not hit the side of the car in frontby rkj - Car Talk
I don't know that much but from MLKs speech to now (having a black president) blows my mind. I don't think government is going to do much for getting people out of poverty (I think that has more to do with the people themselves and I don't hold much hope for that!). I do see things getting better in the private sector though, all kinds of things that translate in to hope. Weby rkj - Community Forum
QuoteBob in Everett Vent?? what vent? Is that where my leaking oil is coming from? Not the shifter seal or rear seal? The transmission has a vent on the top of the box, in the middle right behind where the bell housing would be (our transmission is a one piece casting as you know). The vent is a domed button you can put a bent paper clip through the middle, where the hole is. Sometimes the veby rkj - Technical Forum
QuoteBob in Everett Now I just have to tackle the leaky transmission. It is tempting to take it out and replace the clutch and front seal too. I am sort of into "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mode but the constant drops of oil on the parking place is annoying. If the front seal started leaking I would be really annoyed. Have you cleaned the vent?by rkj - Technical Forum

QuoteMichiel 318iS I must take the advice of the experienced ones here, no matter how old they get, they keep asking for your attention in some way and I guess it won't stop on a short term. I know Peter, the e30 is like working on the old Bmws I grew up with. I don't think mine is going anywhere for a while to come. After I bought Sam (the new guy) I was looking at my trusty 325is with renewed love and with the historic insurance it doesn't cost very much to keep it on hand, it's my only tow car too. Although, Sam has all the good stuff I need, ac and all, everyday. Jby rkj - Car Talk

QuoteBob in Everett Looks like a winner to me. Except for one thing...it is not an E-30...but then they are not making many of them any more. When I look at all the geegaws on the new car I get a whole new kind of nervousby rkj - Car Talk

QuoteBob in Everett So, to repeat part of the story...I found when I took the thermostat housing off the original head to put on the replacement head, it rattled...it should not rattle...so I inspected all the ports and saw that a part of the thermostat had broken off and was flapping up against one of the inner ports, not sure exacly which way the water flows through the port but I suspect thatby rkj - Technical Forum
Thanks Guys. After reading a lot of things about these cars I feel I know enough now to really look at these babies. Scott at BAV has also helped out, we've been doing business for close to 35 years now. QuoteBob in Everett It looks like disassembling the cam and rocker arms from an E-30 head may be impossible while it is on the engine. I'm thinking of buying one, 2001 330ci. I'm just wondering if there are any pitfalls or things to watch out for, even any things that I might be especially looking for on inspecting this thing. I think by and large it's a pretty good model Bmw and should be a nice car to live with. I got a small settlement for my army service in Vietnam so I think I should drive it well...
