Sad news - RIP Rick Jost (rkj) - 7 years ago
Hi old friends. Last night on Facebook I saw a post from Rick's daughter that there would be a memorial for him today. I'd been in sporadic contact with him over there on FB, but I don't know anything more than that. I don't know if he'd been sick or if this was sudden and unexpected. Since I know you don't do Facebook... Ove just posted pictures of his new 5-door 116i M-Sport. He said in his 116i he's getting around 6L/100km, which I work out to be about 39.75 mpg (US, not Canadian). To say I'm jealous is an understatement. I wouldn't necessarily go for the 116i, but I would LOVE it if BMW would bring the 5-door to the US. A 120d or 123d would be an idby Cab Treadway - Community Forum

There is no mass transit option for me to commute. There is a bus that comes to my plant, but I'd probably have to drive 20 miles to find a place where I could pick it up. There is a train station in my town, but it doesn't go anywhere near my work.by Cab Treadway - Community Forum

Quotenomis3613 I'm surprised they made it N/A. Toyota have said it's intended to be a base for tuning, and these days turbos are easier to squeeze more power out of. Looks like it will be a lot of fun, though. Hopefully it's like an MX-5 (aka Miata) but with a roof and a bit more grunt. I imagine there will be an STi version of the Subie at least. Wow, I've read of this car a few times in the last few months, but it's getting closer. A new car that I'm actually excited about in this day and age. 2700 lbs, RWD, manual, decent (200) hp... Yes, please! Scion FR-S I don't know if we in the US will get only the Scion version or if the Subaru BRZ will also come here. What EXIF viewer do you have? I just loaded one from Mozilla's site, and while it shows much of the data, there is more that is not shown, and also when loaded to Photobucket, some data may be stripped off. I checked on a photo on my site, and while I do not strip any EXIF when I upload to my site, the viewer I used does not display everything that I know is there on the original. I assume you've already taken the first step of thoroughly examining the EXIF data on the files, as sometimes the user puts in their name/phone/website/email/etc in there. I know I do. There is hidden data that isn't necessarily visible to a normal "right-click -> Properties" type of examination. Interesting, Dave. I did have a 97 Jetta GLX with the VR6 for several years, and I didn't consider it higher maintenance than the average car. Although doing the brakes on that was more of a PITA since the rotors have the bearings built in vs. a simple rotor replacement. Anyway, my experience with that car was not enough to steer me away from the brand. I certainly would still consider aby Cab Treadway - Community Forum

Similar to Dave, I have had a good experience with my Mazda. As a reminder, it's a 2006 Mazda3 hatch, 2.3L I4, 5-speed manual which I bought new, so I know all of its history. It's now approaching 90k miles. I've done a front brake job, pads and rotors, at something like 70k miles or so. I'll check my log for the actual mileage, but that sounds close off the top of my headby Cab Treadway - Community Forum

Rick, Here's hoping everything was okay for you guys. Up at Chez Cab it was a good rainstorm with some wind but nothing bad, which is really about what I expected. I didn't even notice any downed branches on our street, but just off of it on the next street there were a fair amount of small to medium twigs/branches on the road. Yup, like I said, I don't normally pay much attention to hockey, but from what I've been hearing over the last couple of months from the (admittedly biased) Boston press and fans, Thomas has had a very special season and playoff run. Is BC all stoked up for the little contest tonight? Do you have the parade route planned? I must admit, I'm not normally much of a hockey fan, but I do like the playoffs. Maybe you have one of those limited edition E30s with the adjustable rear camber? The good news re: my clunk is that it hasn't made that rattle/clunk in almost 5 years. The bad news of course being that the engine hasn't made any noises over that time, either.by Cab Treadway - Community Forum
