Hey guys, I am getting a buzzing sound which is emanating from the fuel pump right under the frame just behind the driver's door. The curious thing is that the buzzing is coming from the hose which comes off the pump not the pump. When you grab the hose, the buzzing stops, when you grab the pump, the sound continues. It's kinda like the hose is acting like a violin string. Would this beby alanrw - Technical Forum
Well, I just got my butt off the couch and pulled my Chilton's Toyota Manual. Wasn't I surprised when the front cover said 1998-2002! It has a 4 page description on swapping out the timing belt. I can scan the pages and email them to you. PM me if interested. For openers, here is the pic I grabbed from the library data base. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Try the public library. Many are now online. Also, if there are any colleges near you, try the library there as well. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
A gynecologist had become fed up with malpractice insurance and HMO paperwork and was burned out. Hoping to try another career where skillful hands would be beneficial, he decided to become a mechanic. He went to the local technical college, signed up for evening classes, attended diligently, and learned all he could. When the time for the practical exam approached, the gynecologist prby alanrw - Community Forum
I did find a downloadable pic of the timing belt and cogs for a 91 Sienna. The picture shows how everything goes together and what bolt torques you should use but has no text explaining the procedure (nothing about where timing marks should be which would be critical for timing belt service). Let me know if you want the pic. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
Hmm, did you try ebay? They usually have the cd's on sale. Do you know a mechanic that has access to an online library? I know I got some materials for my 98 Sienna from the L.A. Public library. I think they have the Chilton manuals. I would try the public libraries where you live. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
.....and the fact that statistically, married men live longer than their single counterparts. Peter, just don't become a masterdebater, you will go blind......."can I just do it until I need glasses?" (sorry, I don't get to roll that old joke out too often) alanby alanrw - Community Forum
Peter, if everyone agreed on everything, life could get pretty dull. Nothing wrong with a dissenting opinion in most cases. alanby alanrw - Community Forum
Remember the Challenger disaster? That too had to do with low temps and an o-ring. What about putting the oil filter in your pants for 30 minutes before installing it? alanby alanrw - Technical Forum
I would think if all it took was a quart to put the light out then you had enough oil in the system to prevent lunching the engine. I would think at this point as long as the engine has adequate oil there is no danger in letting it run to warm and see what you got? Perhaps with the filter loose, the engine was unable to completely pressurize the oil system thereby getting the oil all the way up tby alanrw - Technical Forum

The e brake light works by the grounding of the circuit at the ebrake handle. Pull off the plastic cover and the boot on the ebrake and you should see it there, it is really kinda anti-climatic. alanby alanrw - Technical Forum

QuoteArcheo-peteriX Quotealanrw Peter, any plans to fit a blade on the nose of the IX? You could pick up a few bucks plowing driveways!!!! alan Wouldn't that throw off the perfect front to rear balance? Not at all, blade angle is everything!!!!! The sinking in the rear is offset by the digging in of the blade in front. alanby alanrw - Community Forum

If I offended anyone by my puckish comment, that was not my intent. No doubt, mankind's presence has affected the environment for the negative but sometimes I wonder if the case is being stated in more urgent terms than necessary? Global temperatures would seem to be dynamic as opposed to static. Some years it rains like crazy and other years, well, we have been in a drought here in Southernby alanrw - Technical Forum
Wasn't there a point in time when North America was covered by hundreds of feet of ice and then thru some mechanism,.......oh yeah, the environment warmed up, the ice melted and the plains of America, come to think of it, all of America as well as Canada emerged from the perma frost? alanby alanrw - Technical Forum

I heard a very interesting analysis tonight on CNN. This guy went on to say when Reagan took office, we were the biggest importer of raw materials, biggest exporter of finished goods and had a pretty big trade surplus. As the next 4 administrations evolved, all of the forementioned items did a 180. Today we are the biggest exporter of raw materials, biggest importer of finished goods and a huge tby alanrw - Community Forum
