Hello all, My garage queen '85 318i usually sits in its castle and plugged into the battery charger. Yesterday I went to back it out of the garage for a quick wash. It started but then stopped. Went to start it again and it span over fine but wasn't keen on starting. Eventually got it started to reverse 2 car lengths and give it a bath. Would not start for the return journey. Hello all, Thinking that my M10 E30s could be a bit smoother, but the 2 dr is rougher than the 4dr.. I have replaced engine and gerabox mounts, but not the little dampers on each side. I would think as BMW went to the trouble of fitting them they must make a difference, however has anybody replaced theirs- and did it improve ? How did the TD turn out Rick? Dad had TC, TD and maybe a TF. Mum loved the TC so much that they became my initials! Timothy Christopher is a bit of a mouthful but it got the right letters Later Dad had a Datsun 1600 (a 510 I think it was called in the US) An uncle needed some moeny to fund his wedding so a deal was done for Dads Datsun and my uncles BMW 2000 (Neue Klasse) - which is whereby TimH - Community Forum
Digging up an old thread but I did this job recently. Prepsolve is the stuff you want to get the gunk off. Put some on a rag and rub it in a bit. Leave it for a minute and then attack with razor blade scraper.by TimH - Technical Forum
I saw it mentioned earlier, but nobody seems to have to replace the ignition switch (and it's little bit of loom) . E30-1 was getting harder to start, and I would get out with a medium ratchet and hit the starter/solenoid in the hope of getting it working. After trying another starter and having no improvement, we looked elsewhere, and eventually settled on the switch wiring. Ordered theby TimH - Technical Forum
I thought the mushiness was more a problem for us RHD drivers, but it sounds like LHD have it too. For those who don't know, on RHD E30s the booster and MC are on our passenger side. A large tube takes the action from the brake pedal, under the dash, and then into the engine compartment from behind the glovebox. Not very efficient! Supposedly you can adjust it but haven't tried thaby TimH - Technical Forum
This happened on my 318i not long after I got it. The plug was still in the lead fortunately. I rang the NRMA (AA equivalent) but they wouldn't come because I didn't know exactly where I was. I rang a mate who arrived with his new girlfriend (later his wife) that we knew nothing about. I was too worried about my new baby to notice his ! Only after he arrived did I realise I had aby TimH - Technical Forum
I finally found y'all again! I had been searching off and on, but none of the obvious googly searches found here. Spending last year as webmaster for the local BMW club kept me busy. Still playing around with the 318i twins, and the 120i.by TimH - Community Forum
