Quoterkj Wow, Martin is going through that wet fire road very smooth. What does he do for a living? I'm lucky to be teamed up with him. He really is a very good driver and I always feel perfectly safe with him at the controls. I'm not exactly sure what he does for a living. Something with software. QuoterkjHey Ferdy, what does it mean when they say "they greened" the road? After the organizer has finished the final draft of the route book, an independent "green crew" runs the course to check that all the instructions are correct and accurate. I don't know why they're called the "green crew". Very often a different set of eyes will discover problems,by Ferdinand - Community Forum
LHFR Stage-A4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hdndjc-vr_U It had been raining on and off all day so far. But, while waiting to leave Service to head for the start of Stage-A4, the overcast sky steadily became darker and darker with the approach of a massive thunderstorm. LHFR Stage A3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdRcfgP6BXQ On this second run southbound, the rain has let off a bit, we can see where we're going, and Martin is determined to improve on our first run. On Stage-A2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIl_lv0ya50, our first northbound run on the same road, there was something not quite right in our notes early in the stage. On this our first pass at speed, we discovered a couple of corners which we really should have noted during recce with a Caution, and several others that we hadn't noted accurately enough. Last weekend my buddy Martin and I competed in the Lanark Highlands Forest Rally in his Group-5 Nissan 240SX. See more photos It was an absolutely amazing event on a fantabulous road! We used the same 10 km stretch of road 5 times, in alternating directions. In-car video is being uploaded right now.by Ferdinand - Community Forum
In countries where we drive on the right hand side of the road, not the left like the UK, the right side of the car tends to be nearer the edge of the road while the left side tends to be nearer the centreline of the road. We get some nasty potholes in our roads as the frost comes out of the ground at the end of winter. The pavement tends to break up worst along the edge of the road, which meanby Ferdinand - Community Forum

Quotedaniel the wheels seem to be konig remembers. (unless they are real BBS RSs) I wish they were three-piece BBS RS wheels. But they're actually two-piece BBS RM rims. Quotedanieldo you have foglights on it, or not? your entry picture has them, while the one in this thread doesn't. The new car has some odd wiring for the high beams that I'm not happy with. On my old car I did the H1/H4 Euro lens conversion and loved it. The outboard headlamps have a dual filament Lo/Hi H4 bulb. The inboard lamps have a single filament H1 bulb. Only the outboard lenses light up on low-beam. When switching to high-beam the outboard lamps switched to high, and the two inside lampsby Ferdinand - Technical Forum
QuoteDave_G I ended up going to Pennsylvania to find a rust-free iX. I'm guessing you didn't find that gem in Ottawa. QuoteEarendil any highlights or interesting characteristics that you've found yet? The biggest highlight is no rust! I've been fighting the rust in my old car for so long, I had forgotten what a joy it is to have a clean car with no rust whatsoever. It has lots of other goodies too which my old 86 325e lacked, like horsepower! Holy cow what a difference the i engine makes. Plusby Ferdinand - Community Forum
I got a new(er) car! It's a 1990 325is, and is much better suited for our Targa Newfoundland plans. Our entry is officially listed on the website now. We were up at the cottage for the long Easter weekend, introducing the deer to our new car. My son commented it's a good thing that, unlike our stupid cats, the deer haven't tried to walk all over the car yet.by Ferdinand - Community Forum
Quotewodcutr I could be wrong but I believe that the OBC has its own coding plug. I think it uses the coding plug in the dash as well and that calculates speed and economy depending on inputs from the other sensors. The sensor in the diff can only sense each revolution, just like the crank sensor, thus with different gearing such as a 3.73 or a 4.10 the revolutions would be different so the comby Ferdinand - Technical Forum

QuoteEarendilSo, I am a little bit sketchy on the exact names of these parts, so I'll just use RealOEM links to make sure we're on the same page. And would I be wrong in assuming some of these parts of a couple different names for them? The "Stabilizer Link" is also known as a swaybar end-link. Quotenomis3613If people started describing engine noise as "the icecreaming" then I guess they would have to update the dictionary and wikipedia! That reminds me of one of Terry Pratchett's little gems, author of the brilliant "Discworld" series of novels. QuoteEarendilThe word "Warp" in and of its self can not trace it's roots back to the definition that you want to attach to it, but is instead from "Middle English werpen, from Old English weorpan, to throw away." Both of which come from the German "werfen", which means to throw.by Ferdinand - Technical Forum
Whenever people notice a pulsation in their brake pedal the mechanics automatically diagnose that as a "warped" brake rotor so they can charge you lots of money to replace them. I've never seen a warped rotor. But I do know that uneven deposits on the rotor surfaces can build into high and low spots, in effect unevenly changing the thickness of the rotor at those points.
