Jose, what do you have?by stirv - Car Talk
what a great story and video! the IRONY. i was just talking about Savannah GA today at work (I live in LA but visit GA often, never to Savannah). i drive an 87 too. so uncanny to see his inspection light on, just reset mine, and the brake light on the check panel! fixed that recently too. nice to see the reflectorless bumper trim (from Abrahams?) cuz i've been debating swapping to those. loby stirv - Car Talk
yeah, Cab that old thing is worn out! tape player doesn't function correctly anymore. plays superfast all the time now. Anybody have the old stocker radio/cassette laying around and don't need it? will pay ship + a few bucks! thankS!by stirv - Car Talk
any pictures of where to find this screw? on the throttle body? any write-ups on surging idle? I am so tired of this persistent issue on my 87ic!by stirv - Technical Forum
sounds like a bad top Bob.drum roll sound sounds familiar but that's livable. excessive noise is not. and i think the metal rods going across is standard, or should be. mine is still relatively new but haven't used in in a long time. my hard topis still on and i need to take it off before the summer is over! but i need to concentrate on some other nagging issued like my surging idle (siby stirv - Technical Forum

I love how you guys digressed on my post! lol here's the textbook fix from a guy on the E30tech forum: Yes, the reverse light circuit is the common cause for fuse 10 blowing. The quick, illegal work-around is to pop off the upper shift boot and unplug the wiring harness that goes through the lower rubber shift boot. The connector should be a few inches from the boot, just under the liby stirv - Technical Forum
thanks Rick. i remembered this. my back up lights were out before this too, must be it. THANKS!by stirv - Technical Forum
keeps blowing again. no TACH, no partial OBC, no gas gauge, etc. i forget the short list of potential causes and fixes. any help??? THANKS!!!!by stirv - Technical Forum
Doug S, i think you are my hero! i'm waiting to get money to tune her up, new wires, etc. thankSby stirv - Technical Forum
Are wheels studs and nuts to hold on the wheels better?? i had a full set, was given to me when i installed on the ProKit at Ireland and it was great and then some other shop swapped out everything!!! and put me back to regular luguts, which seem fine. they also removed my 5mm spacers in the front. sad part is, i don't know which shop it was and at this point know no one at any of my shopsby stirv - Technical Forum
thanks guys. have been driving fine since then. no problems. drives fine under hard acel, but i try not to do that much. I think i have one pump and i have not replaced it. it never buzzed when i stalled and i could not access the panel, no tools. but i think i still would have heard it. i do have a bad spark plug, i know from before. it fouls/smells of heavy gas on start up then goes away. thby stirv - Technical Forum
nevermind, looked at bimmerforums, as usual...by stirv - Technical Forum
crank angle sensor... what is/where is it? please see my post 'back from Vegas' above. could it be? thankSby stirv - Technical Forum
Yesterday I stalled an hour into my trip from Vegas back to LA. 15 South, 110+ degree heat. no AC. Sputters with major intermittent missing going upgrade, 65 - 70 mph. I get to shoulder. finally stalls. smell gas strongly but none visible anywhere. wait one hour. drive off, fine. stalls again same way after 50 mi this time i park next to a tree!! but still wayyy hotttt in the shade. thank hby stirv - Technical Forum
I'd been witnessing fluid on garage floor front left... put it up at the shop this a.m. and found the culprit. sure enuf, well -rubbed hose in front drivers well, fully breached. they quoted me $95 US. $30 for the line and $60 bleed and top-off. no! i went and got new line at the same place they ordered from for $20, then to AutoZone for a $3.50 can of DOT4, came home and jacked it up aby stirv - Technical Forum
thanks guys !! HAPPY 4TH ! Will check and get back to youby stirv - Technical Forum
crap. i noticed some serious brake fading a couple of days ago. today the pedal pretty much hit the floor on my way home home from a routine errand. less than two miles. front rotors and pads are almost NEW. rears have been squeaking for a long time when cold, even after the fronts were replaced but since the fronts do more than 80% of the braking, i know that the rear is not a problem. masteby stirv - Technical Forum
The steering rack is a manageable job. just need time and patience. there are write-ups around, do a search. if you find use the E36 rack even better. anyone can get used to driving without it, but that's the human condition. you'd be fine driving an Isetta if that's all you had. you do want power steering. and make sure you fill it with ATF when you do it. much better than reby stirv - Technical Forum
they head rests are from another car whose owner sold me the rear seats when i did the color conversion. they were already part of the seat backs. today i copied the wiring from the the red dome to my gray one to try to correct my brake light warning on the Overhead check panel, to no avail.:frown:. i don't know why this warning light stays on. at least the dome is wired properly now.by stirv - Technical Forum
thanks Dave! no airbag.by stirv - Technical Forum
i used a dime. just insert in the gap like you would an old school video game. works perfect for the center vents. now i need to do the end vents too. costs...a dime each.by stirv - Technical Forum
I assume you need to take off the steering wheel to get at this stalk.. or just remove the column surrounds? i found a couple of OBC version turn stalks at the bonyeard today but i didn't have the socket for the wheel so i couldn't get in there. i removed all the screws (or so I thought) and then tried breaking apart the column surrounds but that plastic is hard as hell. what sizeby stirv - Technical Forum
i found a third brake light today, with a very good gasket. from an 87. this car was great before they wrecked it. must have blown the motor or something because it was removed and the rest was just tip top. i grabbed the door panels. i had converted my entire interior to black from beige but i just painted the panels with some really nice black paint, but these are original black ones and in gby stirv - Technical Forum
...or keep trying the salvage yard. they're not going to go out every time and tell you if they have it or not. you need to go ... salvage... for yourself. you'd be surprised at what's out there, it just takes patience and perseverance. you'll find all kinds of things you didn't think you needed, and then you'll occasionally find just the thing you do need. if yoby stirv - Technical Forum

Did you fix your rack boot?? i did the Zionsville E36 rack in my 87ic, btw. let me know is you have any questions.by stirv - Technical Forum
you mean your plastic tab broke? this is a very weak link in older cars. my 68 '02 ate up turn signals all the time. hated it. i still get the click click when the wheel returns to straight ahead sometimes. maybe mine isn't really broken all the way off...by stirv - Technical Forum
yes. i have my original three spoke non airbag steering wheel. love this wheel , more than the Mtech II wheels/ so i guess i just need the stalk. boneyard. i'm not paying $170 for this part thanks Jaffar. good luck with the physics!by stirv - Technical Forum
