Hi Kids, Well, about a week after resolving the disappearing coolant mystery (slow leak in water pump), another mystery appears. So Beemie and I driving to work, and usually it is fully warmed up after about 2 miles when we reach the bridge. HaHa, not today. No, the engine starts cooling down according to the temp gauge. QuoteArcheo-peteriX Hi Kelly, Whether the mileage indicates timing belt changing or not; the elapsed time certainly does. It would be a good thing to get the timing belt and pump done soon Hi All, Well, in 2 months I'll need an oil change. So might as well go for the full monty and have the whole timing belt/coolant pump complex addressed at the same time. Strangely, my car is gby Kelly - Technical Forum

Quotejames 2 problems with your theory. 1) Angles are too drunk on whiskey to bother with your coolant 2) Coolant system is a sealed system. You have a leak somewhere. Now on the M20 (which I'm guessing is what you have) coolant likes to leak from precisely 1 million places. A few quick things to check. 1) Throttle body heater gasket. Hi All, So, perhaps there is a thirsty angel in my coolant system. (I'm on an angel kick tonight. See my post on Peter's "I thought I posted this before" thread.) Quoterkj QuoteCab Treadway Kelly, I had a 1997 Jetta with the VR6 engine and a 5-speed. It had a few issues, but they were specific to the engine. I'm not sure if the 2001 GTI was a turbo I4 or the VR6. My issues were with the ignition system, in particular the coilpack had cracks and would arc to ground when the weather was wet and/or humid. I got around it by removing the coilpack aby Kelly - Car Talk

Quoterkj QuoteArcheo-peteriX QuoteEarendil QuoteBob in Everett Might want to check for loose bolts on all the suspension that you have worked on. Hi All mis Amis! I probably incorrectly spelled that, but I'm sure that you will forgive me. Big update - the accelerator hesitation was a whole other story. Read on. It rained all weekend. Happily I did not need to drive. Beemie (a convertible) was parked in its full upright and locked position – uphill with nose above tail to prevent leaks. Happily, there were no breaches. QuoteArcheo-peteriX [Hi Kelly, I just had a look at the gas filler door. Mine tends to be a little like yours when I close it; it doesn't seem to snug back up against the stops. From what I can determine, this is likely caused by either the spring having lost some of it's tension over time or that the metal to metal contact of the spring in the 'finger' notch is binding.
