I guess you had better find the rest of the car!by wodcutr - Community Forum
I had a car that suddenly started getting crappy gas mileage and I could smell fuel too. I found the problem was the fuel line connection where the hard fuel line goes to a rubber one in the rear of the engine bay. The clamp had worked its way loose and fuel was pouring out. Talk about bad gas mileage!by wodcutr - Technical Forum
I would dare say that you need a new O2 sensor. The computer will make the car run rich on purpose if it is getting bad readings from the O2 sensor as a rich condition is better than a lean one. Try disconnecting the sensor and run it like that and see if your mpg changes. If it doesn't then that is the problem.by wodcutr - Technical Forum
You are right, Beemie hasn't got any silver hair yet. Maybe you should go participate in bimmerfest 09. I hear the E30 picnic is the place to be!!by wodcutr - Community Forum
Kelly - I am sure it will function, but the red line in the tach is lower so that may cause fears that you are over reving the car. I guess you could always swap the tach from the old cluster into the E's. You also might want to check the odometer gears before install as they tend to melt together from the hot sun when not in use and won't function. How many miles does the odometer rby wodcutr - Technical Forum
Andy, you are absolutely right if you are talking about the high beams. They do have a + shaped divider inside that is black and it functions as described. I am talking about the low beam light. The reflector on the low beam is not silver, it is black. That is what you are seeing when looking through the clear lens. If they smoked the lens then the light output would really suffer.by wodcutr - Technical Forum
A smoked ellipsoid is not doing anything to the lens itself, it is blacking out the reflector surrounding the bulb behind the lens. So if what you are saying is true that smoked lights are sold to use regular bulbs in, then the reflector in my ellipsoids do nothing except look pretty!by wodcutr - Technical Forum
That is pretty cool to have that to work with. It looks to me that that size tire is about the same difference as having 205/60/15 which would effect the speedometer about 2 mph @ 60. BMW also says that 195/60/14 is an acceptable tire size too, but they are smaller and would effect the speedo in the opposite direction so you would really be only going 58 instead of 60 mph with those tire on. The antenna is only supposed to go up if the unit is turned on. There is a white wire that is for the antenna and it should be hooked to the aux wire of your unit so it only goes up when on. It sounds to me that you have it hooked to the ignition wire. To be really ingenious it would be even better if the antenna only went up if listening to the radio and not a cd or ipod, but that would haveby wodcutr - Technical Forum
I don't know...form over function. They have smoked ellipsoids for sale from many companies so I don't know if those are all HID or regular bulb. All I am really after is whether I should even worry about the reflector part needing to be reflective or not. If all the reflector really does is look pretty then I will just replace the glass - no worries. If it helps project light thenby wodcutr - Technical Forum
How much bigger is a 195/70/r14 than a 195/65/r14 and would they fit an E30?by wodcutr - Technical Forum
OK, I have been reading on some other forums and one thread talks about smoking ellipsoids by painting the reflector black. To me that is no longer a reflector at that point, but they say that the reflector does not reflect light it only blocks light. Now I am really confused. In one thread it says that putting foil in there really helps the light output and the other thread says painting blacby wodcutr - Technical Forum
Hey guys, I thought I would post this to see if anyone has ever had any experience with this. I had a broken low beam ellipsoid lens and have acquired a used replacement lens. I removed the old lens which was in there quite well with all the adhesive and all, and noticed that my reflector was dirty. I cleaned with a good glass cleaner and some of the reflective material came off in spots. Theby wodcutr - Technical Forum
Check out ebay...almost everyone that has a sport seat for sale also has recaro in their listing. They are obviously not recaros, but are assumed to be by most of the truly uninformed!by wodcutr - Community Forum
Hey I was looking today at a rim I have as a spare and it is a 14"x5.5" steelie with an et35. This is a stock BMW rim. How come an after market rim will not work for the E30 with an offset of 35? Is this because the rim is only 5.5" and not 6 to 7" wide? Just curious.by wodcutr - Technical Forum
OK - so you want me to admit that this seat is not a true recaro then I will! Are you happy? I think most of us know that the sport seats are referred to as recaro whether they are or are not, so we all know what is for sale now and we all know that technically the sport seats for the E30 are not true recaro! Now that that is settled I was just a little bit confused about Michiel's post.by wodcutr - Community Forum
If you are looking for sport seats I have some that are FS. It is pretty hard to find a drivers seat in good shape as it gets the most use obviously. Here is a link if interested! SEATSby wodcutr - Community Forum
If you are larger than most people the sport seats can feel uncomfortable. I prefer the sport seats myself, but my children do not like them. In fact they would rather have a cloth seat over leather. I am much larger than my children so that is not the reason. I guess women are smaller and the extra length of the thigh extension bothers them. To me it is great to have that extra support, andby wodcutr - Community Forum
Huh? Oh I get it now that I read Rick's post...I guess you did not understand rule #3 for starting a new thread! B)by wodcutr - Community Forum

Those are similar but the center portion is a bit different in that it is not drilled for two different lug patterns and does not require a hub cap type thingamabob to cover those holes. I have also found some old school five spoke rims that seem interesting just because they were the first ones to come up with that particular design. They are racing dynamic RGP and a guy locally has three forby wodcutr - Technical Forum
Try this one They are the team dynamics pro race 1.3 rims from bimmerworld.by wodcutr - Technical Forum
So what do you think about these wheels? I like these better than the five spoke ones from LTW made specifically for the E30 at Turner motorsport. There really is not much selection out there. I really like the BBS three piece rims but they are spendy!by wodcutr - Technical Forum
I can remember when you had a choice between unleaded and regular. Those were the good old days when the environment didn't matter! B)-by wodcutr - Technical Forum
QuoteDave_G QuotewodcutrSo is the proper offset 25mm or 45mm? I am looking at different rims and wanted to make sure which offset is correct! The sites seem to have all the 5 lug rims for BMWs with an offset of 38mm...is that just because the E36 and newer cars have 15" rims? The stock offset for E30 7-inch wide wheels is 24mm (28mm for the 6-inch wide wheels), but anything within 4-5mm ofby wodcutr - Technical Forum
QuoteArcheo-peteriX Quotewodcutr Hey everyone, I just acquired a new addition to my family a silver 91 318i. It came with some after market rims on it and when you turn the steering wheel all the way you can hear the tires rub somewhere. They are American Racing Estrella rims that are 14x6 with an offset of 35mm and the backside has a 4 7/8 measurement (what ever that means). Right now they haby wodcutr - Technical Forum

The shear bolt that holds the ignition housing to the steering column. If you look at the diagrams on oemparts.com you can see the bolt that screws in from the bottom of the housing. I would think that the actual steering column itself would be very difficult to get out, but once the ignition housing is off of the splined steering shaft all you need to do to get that out would be to unbolt theby wodcutr - Technical Forum
Thanks Michiel that is definitely simple enough. I did try to insert a tiny screwdriver in that hole at all of the positions and nothing so this is great to know. I ended up figuring out how to get the ignition encasement off of the column too. If any one wants to know you have to slice a slot into the shear bolt underneath the column and then take a screwdriver and back the bolt out. It comeby wodcutr - Technical Forum
I just installed a new radiator into the latest vehicle to join the fleet and had an interesting observation. After getting the radiator installed and purging the air from the system I took the car out for a drive and the temp needle stayed right in the middle as it should as I installed a 92 degree thermostat. When I got back to the shop I inspected for any leaks and all was fine. Out of curiby wodcutr - Technical Forum
