QuoteFerdinand The first car in this video is Antoine l'Estage. He won every Cdn National event this year. First time that's ever been done. He drove that corner very well. I don't think the WRC guys could have done it any better. QuoteFerdinand We come to the scene of Martin/Nathalie's crash at 5:10 into our video. Do you actually say "That's them"?

In Norway they sell like cupcakes. All cars are very expensive here, except for electric cars, since they have no tax. The electricity is cheap, they don't pay for ferries or parking, no road tax, and they can drive in bus lanes. Several of my friends drive i3s, and both me and my wife have test driven them. They are very quick and responsive, and the energy recovery is amazing. If you want

QuoteMichiel 318iS Whatever your choice is, try to avoid N43 and N53 engines, they're a bit troublesome. The N53 was never sold in North America. I guess the N43 is rather rare over there as well.

QuoteArcheo-peteriX I have never really gotten over having to sell the iX and would early love to have another BMW. So, the question is...what do I look at? I'm beyond the days when I am willing to be a nursemaid to an aging E30 or E36. So what is out there that someone with meagre means can afford to buy and drive? The E46 is already an obsolete and aging model and likely has it's

QuoteJose Pinto I found many times AWD cars stranded in the mud or snow or whatever, more than 2WD, because they thought the car could deal with it and it couldn't. And while AWD cars can often pull 2WD cars back onto the road, a stuck AWD car will usually have to wait hours for some big tractor to come and save it!

QuoteJose Pinto QuoteOve Kvam Another test of AWD systems Those cars are sold for social "status", not for AWD ability. In Norway, it is a little bit of both. Four wheel drive can be an advantage when driving the family to the skiing resorts in the winter on snowy roads. There are 2WD versions of some of these SUVs, and they have the same status since they look similar. They

What are the three last digits in the part number of your engine computer? I think the 17X is a lot better than the 15X. The latter often fails pretty much like you describe here. I think it is possible to fix them by replacing the big output transistors for the ignition, but I don't remember exactly how or where.

QuoteArcheo-peteriX Were any of the cars tested in the video of the xDrive variety?u I don't know. The car I currently drive, an F20 1-series 116i, has a wheel brake operated differential brake system when the stability system is disabled. The differential itself is open. This system works surprisingly well. Compared to a real differential brake, it allows me to go earlier on the thr

QuoteArcheo-peteriX Even the new BMWs won't work like our iXs did. The new cars all have open diffs and open transfer boxes. All traction control is done by braking. Seems that the designers never bothered to check what would happen if two wheels on one side slipped Did anyone else notice the X3 or X5 that appeared to be FWD only The first generation X5 had open differentials, but the

QuoteBertOneis QuoteBertOneis QuoteJose Pinto Do you have tinted windows on the Nissan? It really helps to avoid the heat caused by "solar gain". yes these tinted windows are really very effective against solar energy.. I have got them recently.. Anybody else using tinted windows? Yes, our F20 116i has factory tinted windows, and it makes a significant difference in direct sunlight.

But this oil is mostly thinner when it is cold, which is a good thing. At operating temperature, there is not all that much difference between them.

QuoteJose Pinto You mean the drive shaft from the diff to the rear wheel or the one from the Gear box to the diff? What are the symptoms, the car can't pull when in gear? $120 sounds like a lot of money for a new drive shaft, and perhaps all you need is the consumables that go in it. Can't you search that part in wreckyards near you? Good luck! Isn't the one between gearb

As far as I can remember, there were never any useful workshop manuals for the M40. I had one, but I never did the camshaft work on it myself. According to the mechanics I used, it was easy to work on, but a rather flawed design when it comes to camshaft, belt and tappets.

I follow several well behaved forums. One of them is rather special. There is pretty much no moderation, and people write pretty much what they think, without filters. Still, nobody will get offended, as they know nothing is meant to harm. It is all for fun. Real trolls would get bored very quickly, since there is nobody to offend.

QuoteBob in Everett I bought a second hand shift knob and boot that says M3 on it and put it in my E-30 for my fantacy M3 driving experience. I think the euro M3 only has M stripes on the gear knob. But then again they have first gear down left, so you know it by the shift pattern. I guess the US M3 is different.

QuoteMichiel 318iS A fuse is a kind of resistance. Any current running through a resistance will cause a voltage drop. Put your multimeter in its most sensitive DC V setting. With open terminals, you'll see a fluctuating value. Connect both terminals directly, you should get a solid 0.000 V. Now, when searching a current draw, let the vehicle rest (modern cars need a couple of minutes,

When measuring current (Amperes), you need to open the circuit and measure in line, like you do at the battery. While measuring how much current that runs through the battery, try to remove one fuse after the other, and putting it back. Check how much the current drops. This will tell you how much current that goes through that particular fuse. If you want to measure over a fuse with multim

QuoteBob in Everett Not sure I understand what you are attempting. The nut that on the fan clutch is left hand threads so the 32 mm wrench needs to move clockwise with respect to the water pump looking rearward. . No need to be whacking the fan clutch at all. If the fan belt is in place to hold the pully getting the nut loose is usually not much trouble. On can use a screwdrive or some suitab

I don't think I have seen a multimeter without autorange the last couple of decades, so I am not so familiar with your manual settings. You say you measure DC current, and have scales of 2M and 20M? As in MegaAmperes??? I highly doubt that a multimeter can take that much current, so I don't quite understand. And the readings seem to change a lot (39 and 56) between the ranges as well, w

You could install a multimeter between your battery power and the car (either the plus or the minus side), and set it to amps. Then install one fuse after the other to read how much it draws. If you find a short, it can possible kill the fuse in your multimeter. If you don't want to risk the fuse, disconnect the battery, and measure each circuit (by installing fuses) with the multim

But the '86 M20 with a cold start valve could be a 320i with L-Jetronic. Anyway, my guess is that the engine is breathing non metered air. That means air bypassing the AFM somewhere. Search by spraying start gas on various parts of the engine while it is running, and listen for idle increase. It could be as simple as the oil filler cap not being properly on, or the dip stick not properl
