Wow. Now that right there is way cool. B) The watch is cool, too (I'd certainly wear it), but the computers take the idea to whole new level.

Thanks to everyone for all the encouragement and moral support for getting this new site set up. We are now hosted by a commercial service that has a good record, so we should do pretty well with reliability. Of course, this reliability doesn't come free. We are charged approximately US$100/year to host this site, which your admin pays for out of his pocket. If you would like to contribut

C'mon, give me a hard one. The Announcements section is configured so that if the admin posts a new announcement, it will show up on top of everything for a while. I will probably leave that function alone, since if I make an announcement, the hope is that nobody misses it. I can change the amount of time that it stays on top, though.

Yeah, I do. I was planning to get to that once I was sure that things were mostly stable, which it looks like they are. I'll probably post an announcement sometime this evening.

QuoteArcheo-peteriX Well we can already see the first two levels; 'newbie' until you hit 10posts then you become a 1st gear I'm betting 100 might be the next level Hee hee. This is fun. I'm not telling. (But I will say that the increments get larger as your post count goes up.)

QuoterkjDave, you get paid by the hour, right? Uh, yeah. Sure. I just haven't figured out what currency yet.

That's OK. We all have to build up our post counts somehow. (The forum is only two days old and already Peter is leaving us in the post count dust. )

I agree. I've fixed this so after you post you are taken to your post instead of the message list.

I have reduced the size of the default font. If it turns out to be too small I can always make it bigger again. It will take a little more work to reduce the amount of blank space to compress things a bit, but I'll see what I can do.

QuoteCab Treadway I have sent Gus an email, to the account where I've been most successful getting a reply. I let him know what happened, and I've asked him to stop by and check us out, make sure we're not stepping on his and/or Toby's toes, and extended him our thanks for many years of mostly trouble-free forum management. Thanks, Cab. I've tried to make this forum like

Woohoo! Our first actual E30-related post on the new site! I feel like we're really here now. In my iX, my long-term 2-year average is 23 MPG. This is mostly rural driving on two-lane highways, and in-town driving in a small town, but little city driving. I think the best I have gotten on a long trip has been around 25 MPG.

Quotedaniel the ability to embed a youtube video into a post would be nice/convenient. Like this? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="; type="ap

Quotedaniel i am not trying to bombard with suggestions, just trying to think of some basic things. Please, bombard away. That's the only way we'll get this thing improved. Links now open in another window. This behavior is not without its own annoyances, so I reserve the right to switch it back if people are bugged by nasty window buildup on their desktops.

Quotedaniel would it be possible to make a favicon.ico file with a roundel or something similar? i know this isn't of the utmost importance, but it is a suggestion. thanks. I did that about an hour or two ago. You might have to clear your browser's cache for it to show up.

More progress! I've fixed the quote feature so it looks better now. I've also got post count categories set up. No more junkies, addicts, and hos. I've cleaned up the neighborhood. The top post count is much higher than 200 now. I've raised it to 5000, though so far I've only come up with names for up to 1000. So nobody go writing more than 1000 posts until I can come

QuoteArcheo-peteriX Rick, your sig is just an addition to the message so pic size is not restricted but we should endeavour to keep the size down like we did on the old site for readability Yup, that's right. For instance, the pic of the Honda bike is cool, but it takes up a lot of screen real estate. Signature pics can be wide, but should be low in the vertical dimension so people don'

Please do let Gus know. (I have no idea how to reach him.) I can't guess how much of our little community we'll end up losing from this episode, but I hope we can get most of us back together. The only way to do that, though, is to get the old site back up so we can direct people to this one. Currently this new site is boasting seven members.

OK, user info is now over on the left. If you don't like it, you can change the template in the Control Center at the top of the page. Getting the current look involved a fair bit of code hacking on my part, so if anything is screwed up (which would not surprise me in the least), please let me know! Still working on the labels for post counts. I also need to fix the quote link so it be
