QuoteCab Treadway It's been 3.5 days and we're still without power at my place. Wow, that's rough. I know how trying that can be. You don't realize how much we rely on electricity until it all goes away. Hang in there!

Quotedaniel the "default" template still has a green theme on the home page That should be gone. If you're still seeing the green headings, your browser has probably cached the little green image. Try clearing your browser's cache. Quotewhen i switch the black and grey template, it gets all wacky in other ways Yeah, that's one of the original canned templates that doesn&

QuoteArcheo-peteriX Can't override the control center defaults any more...going to be pissed Fixed. Sorry about that. I had installed a mod that's supposed to allow anonymous users to use threaded mode like registered users can. It didn't work, but I learned that wasn't it's biggest problem. As you discovered, it broke the threaded option for everybody! So I have turn

QuoteArcheo-peteriX Wonder what's preventing it from showing up? I'm on FF 3.0.4 and XP pro SP3 Ah. I'll bet you're using a different template. I have enabled it on the default BENN template, but not all the other templates. Go to the control center, click forum settings, and make sure that the template is set to Default. Unlike other mods, the recent messages mod requires

QuoteArcheo-peteriX 'Recent messages' doesn't show up here??? It should be at the very top of the page, next to log out, control center, and private messages. If it's not there you might need to clear your browser's cache and refresh the page.

I have made a few updates to the default BENN template to improve the looks a little bit, and more importantly, to fix the annoying problems of different browsers displaying the pages differently, and in some cases putting in lots of extra white space. I have tested the forums with Firefox, IE versions going back to version 6, and Google Chrome, and they all look OK. I have not tested Safari yet,

Quotealanrw Are we going to have a sticky with critical links like the OEM parts catalog or the link to the dashboard swap or the online factory repair manual? I think there are a number of "How To" articles that should be linked. Definitely. But should they be stickies in the forum section, or links from the main page? Or both?

Quoteigor325 I would really like a feature where you can see all latest posts in one place. I know some other boards have a feature where you can see 'recent posts since last login' or "all unread posts by you" Good idea. I have found a module that will do this. I just need to configure the template we're using to make use of the module. It's coming!

I feel for you, Cab. I heard about the ice you guys were getting down there, and that's no fun. We've had a few ice storms up here that have knocked out power for a few days, but were able to burn wood to keep warm, and put food out in the snow to keep cold. It does get old, though. In the great ice storm of '98 we were without power for four days, but some places were out for week

Quotejordan_316iSome ideas: can we have a permanent link to the voy emergency forums somewhere? not saying anything will happen, but just in case, so new people can bookmark it.. Good idea. I'll see if I can decide where where to put it where it's noticeable but not too intrusive. QuoteAlso, will there be a site accompanying these forums? like the old BEN. If so, can we glean arti

QuoterkjI wonder what that will mean for all the articles, DIY's and archives. The forum archives may be history unless the old server is resurrected. But hasn't somebody collected all the articles and DIYs? If so, if they get them to me and/or Daniel, we can get them up on the main page.

Quoterkj I know Dan is a moderator but you're still the boss, right? Yup. So be careful. QuoteIs there anyway I can delete one of my posts? No, but if it's something you really want expunged from your record, send a PM to Daniel or me and we can delete it for you.

QuoterkjSo a few days ago I'm all set to sit down and watch Ferdy's new clips and the boom, the bottom drops out of the forum,,,, no more Ferdy, no more clips.... no more nothing! If the old site ever comes back up, it would be possible to move over all the past posts to the new site, but it would take some work, and likely some coordination between Gus and me.

QuoteArcheo-peteriX Dave has us being served by a commercial service and they won't allow crap like this to go unrepaired for more than a few hours at most. They are also much better equipped to handle these attacks than the lonely unattended server where Gus had the forum sitting. 'Zackly.

...about those Russian hacker UFO lowlifes. I was wondering whether Google had picked up our new site yet, so I searched for BWM E30 Network. First ,of course, was the old BEN site. But second was that stupid Russian squatter site. ARRggghhh!!:X Has anyone been able to reach Gus yet to see if he can make that go away? It would be really nice to let all the folks over there know about this new

Here are a couple of my favorite car-related sites: Jalopnik - a slightly offbeat perspective on all things automotive Bring a Trailer - a collection of some often amazing cars for sale, most of which I will never come within 100 miles of owning, but I like to drool over. (There's a nice BMW E9 on there now). And a couple of just plain weird sites that can be fun: Boing Boing - unc

And Safari does the same thing as Google Chrome. Firefox, IE, and Konqueror all work OK. I haven't checked Opera yet, but a quick search tells me it will behave the same as Chrome and Safari.

Quotedaniel in google chrome there is a ton of blank space, in IE8 there is not. I tried clearing the cache, but that didnt do anything. any other ideas? Hmmm. Because I forgot to check Google Chrome when I was developing the template? :undecided: Actually, it looks like Chrome has some strange behaviors when it comes to interpreting CSS styles. It does the same thing with some of the other

QuoteArcheo-peteriXHave you buried lots of hooks in the meta tag? That will help other crawlers find us faster too Yeah, I put a few in there, but that's not the magic solution it was in days of yore. These days most web crawlers ignore the meta tag keywords.

QuoteArcheo-peteriX Dave can apply to google to have the site put on their searxh engine or we can wait for a couple of months until the web crawlers find us. Yup, I've submitted our new domain to Google to speed things up, but it will still take a while.
