QuoteFerdinand The gap between the tip of the magnet and the toothed ring is critical. Because it is a magnet, it tends to collect bits of "stuff" on it's tip. Undo the bolt holding the sensor, pull it out, and clean the tip. Make sure the toothed ABS ring is clean too. i think this is why my ABS is messed up after the 5-lug swap. it works, but the brake pedal vibrates agains

A friend of mine flew up to Portland to drive to Oklahoma with me. Before we left we drove to the coast for a day, then the next day left for Oklahoma. Over 4 days we took I-84E to I-15N to yellowstone and the tetons (stayed in Jackson Hole), then I-80E to I-25S to I-70E to I-35S to okla hwy 412. I averaged about 25MPG at about 75MPH with the S52, ZF320, and 3.25 LSD. Respectable I think.

QuoteFerdinand Quotewodcutr earth has its own mechanisms built into it to keep everything in check. It's called "extinction". QuoteThe earth was created for man, not man for the earth. God is in control here. oh Anybody else notice it's getting hot in here? We may need to rig up a fan to cool things off -- mechanical, electrical, or otherwise. Well the earth is

QuoteArcheo-peteriX Quotewodcutr Daniel - my original post was supposed to be funny. Apparently my sense of humor is not politically correct enough for some people.... One little emoticon in your original post could have avoided this thread going sideways this is true. it didn't sound like you were just kidding.

Quotewodcutr So Daniel, if you are so smart why aren't you driving a prius? Your S52 is polluting just as much as my M20. Have you been sucking on your exhaust as you suggest I do? Your thinking is so clear but your actions are quite smog filled. You're another Al Gore preaching a good sermon, but unwilling to pay the price yourself to live what you think is so important. Until you

Now no one will believe me Side note, I actually made her car sick on the group drive after the picnic I'm a bad person... But a decent driver i actually didn't take pictures of your girlfriend out of respect, i guess. but i do think

Quotewodcutr So Rick, you must live in a house made of dirt, ride a bicycle to go anywhere, eat only organic grown food, and you must never fart. NOT!!! The problem with liberals is that they want everyone else to change so they can feel guilt free about their own skewed ideas. The truth is that our human existence is really survival of the fittest. As this economy gets worse and worse the

Quotewodcutr Here's a LINK. It is not the direct article of NASA, but it quotes from it so you should be able to get there from here! that extremely biased article links to this, which links to this, where you can read a summary of the NASA study. Quotejl1371 Quotedaniel jus to help with price comparisons, i just had a headers-back exhaust built for my car with a new cat and muffler (2.5in tubing) for $700 total. the cat and muffler were magnaflow, and i think they were about $200 each. When they built your system did they crush bend the tubing or use mandrel bends? I was just on partstrain.com they usually have good prices and I

Quoterkj Quotejl1371 Also don't buy a cat from the muffler shop you can get one a high flow cat at auto parts store much cheaper and have it installed at the muffler shop usually for less then their cat or especially a BMW one. Well, that used to be more true, these days a new front section isn't that much, last one I bought from BAV was 300 or so. You start welding all those pipes t

QuoteJohn Yust Looking at the pictures Ferd posted, and considering the symptoms posted under the "swine flu" thread, makes me think the whole swine flu episode was due to the stuff that's in the muffler now working it's way down the pipe. It looks like it might be a good time to start shopping for a new exhaust system. good thinkin!

QuoteEarendil Quotedaniel QuoteDave_G The difference between 2.0 and 2.3 bars is 29 vs. 33 psi. That may be enough to make a small difference, but not the WOW! dramatic difference that he's describing. Also, no one can see that small a difference in tire pressures just by looking at the tire, certainly not while driving behind the car. You can't see an underinflated tire until it gets a

Quotejaffar when you walk around the car, the difference is not obvious. but when you drive behind, it becomes :undecided: i agree that you probably couldnt tell just by looking, but, under the force of a cornering vehicle, it is conceivable that someone could notice a difference in how the tire deforms as you go around corners.

Quotejaffar ok - this is weird. i made a long(ish) drive during the weekend, including lots of twisty roads. i had someone drive behind me (i hope the movie turned up ok, didnt see it yet) and they told me that my rear-left tire seems not inflated enough. i checked and it was at 2.0 bar (i run with 2.2 front and 2.3 rear - so -0.3 difference from the right). i fixed it and ... WOW ! now the car d

QuoteEarendil If someone actually put an object up my tale pipe I'm going to start carrying a large stick around with me... this should be your plan, then. so if you go to the back of your car, grab the tailpipe and start swinging the muffler around, you can make the same noise, right?

QuoteDave_G QuotealanrwNah, if it is anything like my 84, you just remove the speakers, the back seat (no biggie) and then the fiberboard base should pop out. The carpet is glued to the fiberboard. I think the speaker screws are what keep the fiberboard in place, I don't think they use pop buttons like the door panels, but you can tell by looking from the trunk. OK, but once you've done

QuoteEarendil If your exhaust sounds like it has a golf ball rolling around inside of it, what does that mean? When running it doesn't seem to pose a problem (I don't think), but I was changing the back breaks yesterday and bumps the exhaust, and I could swear it sounds like there is a golf ball rolling around inside. Ideas? Is it just fine? Will it explode? Does this prove the ex
