Ladies and Gentlemen. This website has a lot of great stuff on it but utilization is low. It is coming up for renewal of hosting soon and I am wondering if it is worth the cost to keep it up. I would like some feedback from all you users to know what the decision should be. It is not a lot of trouble to administer but the annual cost to renew the hosting is the issue. There is no advertis

Connect pin 7 to pin 19 and turn on the ignition to position 2 (run, not start). When the service lights go out, turn off the ignition. Should take about 8 to 10 seconds. If held on longer it will reset the inspection interval. Best of luck. Bob

The E-30 sedan rear seal on the automatic transmission has been leaking for a long time. It was easier to tolerate than repair as most of you know. The exhaust has to come off and a lot of other stuff before access to the seal can be accomplished. The day finally came to replace the muffler so the requisite parts were procured to change the trans seal as well. New guibo, trans mounts and sh

I needed a new bulb for my fog lights so went to an auto parts store. The price of the H-3 bulb I wanted ranged from $16 to $22. I bought one and installed it. Then days later,I got a message from an online parts dealer with a provocative listing of "surplus" parts for my E-30. I scrolled through to see if there was anything I could not resist. Well, I was hooked by the sale price

Recently changed the timing belt i my 1990 sedan. It had been 5 years or so since I changed it last but not a lot of miles so it was not badly stretched. Just a little loose. After the normal struggles with the belt and etc. got it done but decided not to change the tension pulley. Did not have a lot of miles on it and it seemed ok. After about 50 miles on the new belt a noticeable clicking

It is possible but there will be extra costs. Price might be higher to offset risk of having to recover the car if payments are missed. Interest on the loan might be higher for the same reason. Down payment might be higher as well. Bad credit mostly means that to get merchants to trust that you will pay, they will charge you more of what your already do not have enough of. Best to try and a

Now that the noise of the bearing is gone, I can hear another noise that might be the differential. I did notice how much oily dirt was all over the diff when working on getting axle CV off it. Now it occurs to me that since it did not appear that the diff was dripping any fresh oil...it might have already leaked out. Maybe there is no oil left in it.

Another update...after 40,000 more miles, it is still going. It is showing some cracks though so have procured a new one. Might get installed this week. With the modified exhaust the new engine required, it takes a while to disassemble and reassemble. A plus is that the new rear seal on the transmission I put in last time is not leaking yet. So, do not have to do that over.

Removing the locking washer was difficult and destroyed it in the process. A chisel to get under an edge and bend it so some needle nose pliers could grab it was necessary. Definitely had to have a new one to install. The bearing change is finally completed. The noise reduction is amazing. The bearing was very difficult to remove. A slide hammer was not successful in moving it at all. I h

I have the new bearing in hand to replace the noisy left rear. The Bentley manual is not very clear on how one removes the locking washer from the CV shaft. Does anyone know of a UTube video on rear wheel bearing change?

Kelly, Good to see you are still driving that cabrio. I have changed the fan on one of my E-30 but have no idea why the connection to any other of the interior lights. Seems like some other gremlin might be involved. The instrument cluster is difficult to remove and replace so I cannot recommend exploratory surgery. One of my cars had a similar speedometer fluctuation and the "speedomete

I see in Bimmer Life Magazine that there is one in the Sonora chapter owned by Dave Becker. According to the article he has owned it for 20 years. There were only 1660 of the 323i built.

I have the recently refurbished head off the engine I replaced. Should be worth $300 plus shipping. The rework alone is much more than that these days.

Often the fabric has a foam backing that is glued to the inside of the car. This foam oxidizes gradually and turns to mush and cannot really bond to any new application of glue.

When I went to a shop to have the headliner in my E-30 hardtop replaced, they matched the fabric perfectly. The install of the new fabric left a little to be desired but the appearance was identical to the original.

Unfortunately, it appears to be the severe vibration type failure. I see on pelican parts I can get a new one for about $90. I might have to go that way. I checked a local pic-a-part place and they had none of the E-30 model cars within 100 miles.

My 1990 sedan heater fan has failed. The motor runs but is really noisy. I think the fan must have disintegrated while operating at the high speed. So I am looking for a replacement and some hints at getting the debris out of the AC. Is there a replacement for just the fan or must the whole assembly be replaced?

That particular Z1 was owned by Peter Gleeson. I just read in the Puget Sound BMWCCA magazine (Zundfolge) that the editor has purchased it from Peter. So it is definitely on the road again. We should see it at the E-30 picnic this year as David Lightfoot us usually in attendance even though he previously did not have an E-30 for quite a while.
