Innovation is always good! The key here is fewer moving parts, smaller end lighter engine, higher compression ratios. Hidrogen, like electricity, can't be found in nature and are always more complex to produce and store than burning some sort of fuel. Gasoline (while there is some), Alcohol, or LPG, natural gas, etc there are a number of choices out there to exploit, and better engineby Jose Pinto - Car Talk

QuoteMichiel 318iS Ah those R4's... They had something special to them. Encountered one on the highway lately, Gordini blue with matching stripes. Bit of a contradiction, but still a special vehicle. Those had good brakes, and good mass distribution, the transmission is centered, once you get used to the lever. The soft suspension would let the car lean a lot on turns, but a sway bar coby Jose Pinto - Community Forum
QuoteMichiel 318iS Saw today at work the timing chain no longer is available from BMW for the M42. Time is ticking away... You own a classic now, BMW will get you parts under the "mobile tradition" program, or whatever they call it, with prices multiplied by a factor... Either that or the third party parts company who distributes parts from the factory where chains are actually prodby Jose Pinto - Technical Forum
Quoterkj Thanks for Bday wishes. Mine was actualy the 425 horse model ( in stock form) with a two four barrel carbs. At one point I handed the motor over to a famous machinist for some slight upgrades and to a speed shop for balancing. After that it was just a brute, and the best fun! Back in my early twenties we used to race towns (from one to another). Silly stuff but Hey, I was just home frby Jose Pinto - Community Forum
QuoteMichiel 318iS My only concern is... time... At the moment, the job, house, garden and kids are quite a handful... Not necessarily in that order! "tempus fugit" Sometimes there are just too many things going on at the same time. Good luck, keep us posted!by Jose Pinto - Technical Forum
Quoterkj So, being it's my birthday I thought I'd post this here too, it's the same car, color and motor. What a fun car it was (and still is I hope). Ford Car Headphones are the best for this "410hp" Is that for real? Can the Galaxie handle that power?! :oby Jose Pinto - Community Forum

This saturday i thought about this and witnessed befrore me the neatest way to solve the problem. My neighbor next door has a garage filled with over 100000€ worth of cars, one of which is a clean e30 320is ... This Saturday we had the first sunny weekend in several months, so he came to bring the cars out to clean the mould and recharge the batteries and overall enjoy the fine cars he has stby Jose Pinto - Technical Forum
Experimental... Those engines were used on early airplanes, I never knew there were cars equiped with those. Kind of leaky and noisy!by Jose Pinto - Car Talk
Quoterkj I would say a combination of both Bobs and Daves advice. Getting things that are frozen apart can be a test of strenght, will and, a few brain cells... (why won't my spell check work here!) Make sure the hand brake cable isn't holding anything like has been said and then get in there and take charge. I always have my torch handy (and a baby sledge) though. Quoterkj QuoteArcheo-peteriX Congratulations! Don't you just love the free fixes? I know I do! Is wonderfull when things go back to the way they sould! QuoteArcheo-peteriX In that case I can only assume it's operator error since that machine has a resolution of +/- 1gram! Should be something like that. Perhaps the wheel was not seating properly on the machine axle or hub or whatever.by Jose Pinto - Car Talk
Some more imput: Last set of tires I bought for the Benz, Continental Premium Contact 2, the new tires came with a dot marking the position of where the valve should align with the rim. That way, the balancing takes a lot less weight to be added than it would if the tire was to be mounted randomly or another way. At one wheel, the machine was giving high numbers, and the man rotated the tire 9by Jose Pinto - Car Talk

The mileage is low. In case it looks and drives good, is a great car! If not done recently, must do a thorough maintenance, with timing belt, filters, fluids, and so on... Same as any car of that vintage, only this engine can be destroyed if the timing belt snaps.by Jose Pinto - Technical Forum
Good story, and good car! You can't figure consumption average out of one tank or only 100 miles, unless you had the means to make very accurate measurements...by Jose Pinto - Registry
QuoteMichiel 318iS The trucks are not 100% comparable, but still interesting to see. This test is not made under scientific methods, yet some data can be used to our discussion. -The loaded truck stop distance is in the same order of magnitude of the unloaded, and the mass is 3 times bigger. -The loaded truck is about 40 times heavier than the skoda car, and stops in twice the distance. -Theby Jose Pinto - Car Talk

When cars had parts that would "last forever", those were stronger (and more expensive to build) than needed. Believe me, there will be somebody somewhere calculating all that. Example, before brake rotors would last for several hundreds of thousand km, and now thei are built lighter and last sometimes less than 100000km. The "engine swap under warranty" story is not muby Jose Pinto - Community Forum
The only different is the mass, and let's assume we have a flat leveled road, brakes are immune to fading, or tires are not wearing and all those minor variables. The friction of the tires against the road depend on the rubber/road surface material (a constant) and the normal force pressing the tires. The surface being horizontal we may assume the normal force equals the weight. The brby Jose Pinto - Car Talk

Quotejaffar Well, to be honest, my friend at the local BMW dealer is telling me - Dan, don't buy ANY recent BMWs, they are all crap. Which is true. Ok, Smarts are bad, Minis are bad, but outside it just started snowing. I need a small car. I don't think new cars are crap, new cars are more complex than ever before. Complexity brings more potencial problems and higher maintenance coby Jose Pinto - Community Forum
