QuoteBob in Everett I can comment on the oil level warning. The sensor is a float with a magnetic switch submerged in the motor oil After many years, the deposits of dirt from the oil cause the float to become sticky and it will not go up and down with the oil level. It is unreliable as a sensor. One could remove it from the engine and try to clean it but it is enclosed in a sleeve with very sby Jose Pinto - Technical Forum
QuoteMichiel 318iS Check rack, linea, pump, cooler for leakage. Check P/S fluïd level/top up. Steer from lock to lock à couple of time to get the air out. P/S pump belt OK and enough tension? No strange nonsens should be heard, effort should be even along rack travel. After the steering rack is checked, look at ball joints or the bearing on top of the strut towers, they may be damaged andby Jose Pinto - Technical Forum

I could use some of this myself. My current daily driver is a Mercedes Benz 250D (for the american readers, it is a w124 powered by a 5 cylinder normally aspirated diesel engine. It came new in 1988 with external thermometer, but the LCD display has gone bad a long time ago. I have an extra cluster, cause the odometer quit, and I am planing to do one good cluster from the two partially brokenby Jose Pinto - Technical Forum
The reason for the existence of that part is to avoid transmission vibration and noise. If the part is not flexible, any vibration will not be filtered. Any experiences form people using that modification?by Jose Pinto - Car Talk
QuoteBob in Everett Another great gathering of E-30 this year. Bought a few parts for my car and sold a couple of parts. Overall, a great day. Very nice! I thought there were no e30 touring in North America, some good specimens were there.by Jose Pinto - Car Talk
Finally went to see the thing. IT is located at a small garage, packed with other BMWe30 models, some being parted, others being rebuilt. There was a very good 4 door 318i, the daily driver of the owner parked at the door. There was also a mint 1989 Cabrio under a cover, in showroom shape. The touring was sitting there, the rear cargo space packed with separate parts. Interior seems correct,by Jose Pinto - Car Talk

QuoteBob in Everett Ove, I have not seen any S50 mods in cabrios myself. Mostly coupes. The cabrio body is different than the sedan and coupe. I have not googled it. Probably should look in the R3V website though. The E-30 picnic is coming up in a month where there will be over 200 other E-30 there. I may be able to find an opinion there. Probably should take some pictures from underby Jose Pinto - Technical Forum

QuoteBob in Everett QuoteBob in Everett The museum wants cars to exhibit for a special show which they occasionally do to keep their displays fresh. Unfortunately they want 1977 or older so the E-30 is excluded. Yesterday the Puget Sound BMW club had over 320 members bring their cars to the museum for a show and shine (in the rain) and to visit the BMW display of some iconic BMW on display.by Jose Pinto - Community Forum

I am searching those kind of app, cause my ex-taxi odometer quit counting a while back and i would like to have something doing just that function, from a tablet or my phone. My old car has no OBD, so no engine data can be displayed.by Jose Pinto - Community Forum
Beside what was said above, You may have installed a defective part, who failed prematurely. It seldom happens, but is possible, and in that case you are worrying over nothing. I had a V-belt snapping after only 3000km (previous endured 100000km), and an engine mount changed under warranty after few months of use. If you think the sedan part is stronger and is possible to fit, there may theby Jose Pinto - Car Talk

QuoteOve Kvam Tires can be stored for years without problems if you keem them in a dark, dry and cool place. They won't get any better after storage, though. There is a Mercedes 770 Grosser (1938) in the museum with original tires on, and it runs once or twice per year. The mircro-cracks are probably due to the aging of the surface due to sunlight or weather, if the tire structure isby Jose Pinto - Car Talk

I wnt through 3 sets of Continental Premiumcontact in my Benz, they work very well, the only "complain" I have is they wear out quickly. I have a Mabor set in now, suppose those are not available in the US, is a Portuguese brand that was bought by Continental Group. If your happy with the Michelin, I would say stick to it, unless they are utterly expensive or no longer available.by Jose Pinto - Car Talk
There is always some gear, when the ratio is 1, they have same dimension, number of teeth. Is a common practice to tow manual cars with wheels rolling, in neutral, with not much damage apparently. A manual gear box can actually run without oil in it for a while, before failure. and even so, the failure may be in just one gear and possible to be repaired by a skilled mechanic. QuoteJose Pinto QuoteOve Kvam Nice video. When they like the 325i so much, just imagine how much they would have liked the 318iS! :-) It would be too small engine for american standards. They are used to V8 with automatic gearbox, is too much of a cultural shock. Sometimes "Less is more" And pickups. QuoteBob in Everett Merry Christmas to you. Thanx, ...And happy new year 2016! With lots of BMW to drive around with loved ones and friends. The BMW was once defined as "the sports car for someone with friends" because they come with 5 seats.by Jose Pinto - Community Forum
Apparently the automatic transmission never disengages from the transmission, unlike manual transmission when in neutral. Manual transmission output shaft spins freely, when in neutral. So the automatic, even in N, have the internal parts working as the car was being driven, which causes friction, and holds back the car when it's towed.by Jose Pinto - Car Talk
