the limit for the amount of posts here? It's been quiet for a couple of days...

Sadly, as the number of E30s on the road dwindles; so does readership and interest sad smiley

Unfortunately, the glory days of the E30 are in the past and only we hangers on still keep it's memory alive.

Most of the remaining E30s in NA seem to have become riced up extensions of their owners with fart cans; extreme lowering jobs and paint that is so far removed from the original that the spirit of the cars has been lost sad smiley

One of the cool things out here (in the hamptons) is there was, and still is a great number of well kept old Bimmmers. 2002's (a few cabrios too) and all the models. 325 E30's are like everywhere. I've got a few too :wavey:

I wish I had one sad smiley

I miss the sweet sound of the inline 6 and I would really love to have one with a stick and LSD.

I wish you all could join us here in the NW for the E30 picnic. Known now as the largest gathering of E30 in the world. There are a few "ricer" E30s, and a whole slew of engine swapped cars (99.9% are BMW engines) and a lot are lowered. But that's out of 200 E30s. Plenty of daily drivers, garage queens, and track rats. All perfectly acceptable lives for an E30 IMHO smiling smiley

Is true there are fewer e30 on the road, but the interest on the car raised.
It was the cheap BMW one could buy second hand, now the e36 became cheaper than the e30.
There are very few beat-up cheap e-30 for sale, and good well kept or restored e30 sell for several thousand €.
Also the e-30 are not so much used as daily drivers and more as "project" cars to keep and restore.
I miss my old 323i. It is not insured anymore, but the licence is still active. I wonder what condition it is now, wish i could drive it again!

Maybe I should ship my cabrio to Europe and see if I can get a good price for it.

Shouldn't be necessary, those cars sell well anywhere:
[cgi.ebay.com]

This is the first from the lot, same year as yours.
Good thing is if you keep it, it will not loose value, and that is great news for cars.
Another ten years and a e30 cabrio will be a very sought for classic.

That's an early model, I like this model better. Facelift, shadowline, only the diamond black is missing.
June 22, 2011 05:51PM
Wow, I better keep mine in good shape. My insurance company just looks at the Kelly Blue Book value.

The E-30 picnic is Sunday at the LeMay museum near Tacoma, Washington. I entered my car and plan to attend and take a bunch of pictures. [www.bmwpugetsound.com]

This link has a collage of nice pictures from last year.

What Jose says is true on this side of the pond to, there are few old beaters left in e30 clothes, most get scooped up quickly if they are offered up for sale, and an e36 can be had for less than an e30, they are quite desirable here, unfortunately also makes them more vulnerable to theft and hijacking, also means the parts vendors want to start charging stupid prices for spares.
I need a new radiator for the little 318i and the cheapest I have found so far is R845 ($125) and it don't look like I am going to get better than that.
But I would not give it up for anything, once I am done with the bike restoration I will be keeping an eye open for a nice 325i, to add to the garage.
I will keep the 318i as a daily driver, as the 13km/l (30 miles/gallon) is hard to beat, even in the new Chinese econo boxes.
I think the technical section is just quite because they are so reliable, and seldom break down.

E30'S AREN'T BUILT, THEY'RE CAUGHT IN THE WILD!!!

When in doubt, use full throttle,
it may not improve the situation, but it will end the suspence.

Got my cabrio all cleaned up and shiny for the picnic tomorrow.

Take lots of pictures Bob and make me really sorry I had to sell the iX winking smiley

I've been cruising the local fs ads and see a couple of 1988 325(super eta) models that just might make my day. I can grab one of these things for about $1500 or less if I haggle smiling smiley

Man oh man, it's so tempting

This one sure looks like a good candidate. More than $1500 though.

Nice and clean like the iX was smiling smiley

I think I want to go with the 88 'super eta' and a standard transmission. Since getting the truck, I just couldn't go back to an auto

Also; I wouldn't get another red car...zinnoberrot fades so badly that most of the time it looks pink sad smiley
A nice silver colour would be perfect smileys with beer

Lechssilber is where it's at smiling smiley

I got to drive from Portland to Tacoma today with 8 other E30s. It was awesome to be among such Bimmer friends through a medium that isn't virtual. I still love you guys though smiling smiley

Yes, but it was white. I've always been a bit partial to black cars smiling smiley

I go through this about once a month smiling smiley

Sadly, a combination of not having money for the car, and having mechanically sound means that I have little reason to jump on the forums except to respond to others. I do check for new posts at least twice a day though smiling smiley

Actually, since moving out my Dad has aquired a 1991 325ix. She is happy to have me come visit with the excuse of helping with the ix. I'm happy to help for free beer* and to get that usual "wtf is this?! Oh, it's an ix..." moment.

But sure, I'll say hi for you winking smiley

*truthfully, I'd do it for free. I blame you guys.
