Perhaps you heard, the Pritzker 2011 was awarded to Eduardo Souto Moura.
I have some projects going with him, one of which is featured here: [www.pritzkerprize.com] The Tourism School of Portalegre. In general, his team designs the building with very clean and nice walls, and I plant the Natural Gas metering boxes facing outside... Among other projects, he has the new Hilton Bom Sucesso, an hotel built at a hill side, as part of a 5 star golf resort. [www.bomsucesso.net] |

The Hilton Bom Sucesso (*****) may turn out too expensive.
Perhaps you may be interested in something completely different: Near the capital, Lisboa: [www.palacioestorilhotel.com] After the world war II the place was crowded with exiled nobles and kings from all over Europe. There is a Casino nearby, a pleasant beach and an urban train to the city centre, an half our trip. At Porto: [www.pestana.com] This one (****) is next to the river, inside the "Word Heritage" classified area, is a XVII century building adapted for hotel recently. [www.hotelparis.pt] This one first opened in 1877 and is a lovely old hotel, recently restored. It is very well located at the center, within walking range from everything. And outside the city, two ideas: [www.wrcaramulo.com] Beside the hotel, there is a great automobile museum in Caramulo, and a hillclimb race every year: [www.museu-caramulo.net] [www.casadotua.com] This one is at the heart of the Douro Valley, where Port wine comes from. The Hotel is very small and cosy, only 12 rooms, and is just as expensive as staying home. The place is best reached by train, but the roads there are perfectly suited for a good BMW e30. There you can say I sent you, and they will treat you like family. Now you can browse the pictures and make your decision with time... |
