Don't sell the M10 short, it was the basis of some pretty high flying iron on the race track spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Yep; if I was going to chose a base for a light weight fire breather, it would be the M10. Any engine that can be built up to give out 1400hp(even for a single race) has my profound respect.
This little block can safely and easily be built to produce 300 to 500 hp with complete reliability.

You can be sure BMW hasn't over engineered a block like the M10 since.
